The movie was fucking gorgeous. It was worth a viewing just for that. It was ham fisted and not completely successful but I still felt it was decent. I kind of want to watch it again.

I'd say it was pretending to be intelligent, rather than actually trying to be. No props from me.

Let me ask you something are you a screenwriter in Hollywood who lost a job to Damn Lindenloff? You sure don't seem to like him or this movie (based on your post history)

You shouldn't give props to someone who tries to do something and fails miserably.

When most big budget sci-fi is so idea-free even a failed attempt to deal with big concepts is to be appreciated. If Prometheus does well enough it may result in more big ideas being explored.

I just saw this. It was pretty bad. lol @ trying to pass the main characters off as the perfect I still believe! The answers will lead us to god! "scientists" with cross necklaces and tattoos.

Unless it's your kid. And I bet some people in this thread invested enough hype in this film for them to consider it adopted...

Hey I'm a big Alien, Ridley Scott fan. I was really interested in this movie

And don't compare a little child trying to do something to grownup professionals that earn millions for what they do

Sci-fi could use a lot more films with awful characterizations and full of inconsistencies and plot holes? No wonder you dig Inception so much............

I don't judge movies based on what they try to do (concept). I judge them based on what they actually do (execution).

Avatar is a much better film than Prometheus.

Shit, I might even agree with that. Avatar is boring as hell, and occasionally offensive in its politics, but what's there is competent.

Prometheus is problematic on so many levels. The screenplay and story are pretty much incompetent.

I'd still rather rewatch Prometheus than Avatar, if only because it's way shorter, more visually interesting and has a couple nice performances.

Did this get shared? Spoiler-rific, but semi-interesting analysis.

Some things make a ton more sense now.

"Reader, that's not me pulling wild ideas out of my arse. That's RIDLEY SCOTT."

There may be a ton of mythic references and homages, and you may be able to force all the symbols to make some semblance of sense, but it's still retarded.

Im sticking to my guns. I enjoyed the movie.

Im hoping to get a chance to see it a second time to see how it holds up, but something tells me I will enjoy it all the same. There are definite flaws in this movie, but it has more to do with script than story, if things were tightened up more and the movie dealt with a few things differently it would near perfect.

I hope a sequel happens. I want more from this universe. A lot more.

Ok guys, Prometheus wasn't all that good, but worse then Alien 3? Goddamn, that's some hate

The movie shares a lot of issues similar to Lost. It's not a surprise if someone hated Lost for reasons particular to Lindelof's writing that they would hate this movie.

Poor Lindelof is replying to those abusing him.

It's amazing how much self-confidence this man has.

I loved the movie. I know nothing about Alien/s but this movie was just great. Noomie Rapace just killed it as lisbeth, she was given so much to do and she did an ACE job at it. Also Michael Fassboner <3. I am just in love with everything he does. At first impression I though Idris Elba would be terrible but he sells it as the captain. Everyone else is just meh, THeron was decent but her 'angst' against David and her father was too heavy handed.

I felt that is a theme that is going to carry when watching this movie again. It is too heavy handed in its music, religion and conflicts. The music was ok but the main theme was over bearing. Lisbeths religion conflicts with her and her boyfriend was not really well utilized, like whatever?

The plot of the movie was really awesome, the action that occurs in the final third was splendid and just amazing. Seeing the engineers being just brute soldiors was a turn I didn't expect. The mysteries that surround the film well. It was ok. I spent an hour after the film talking to my brother about theories, ideas and just talking about it. It was fun to talk about but in the end,the answers aren't in the film. The answers are in Damon Lindelofs head.

Did you discuss the plotholes, writing mistakes and character flaws?

There isn't much wrong with the plot of the film. Nor the character motivations. The fact that it was ambiguous if
David was following Weyland's direct orders or if he had he's own agenda was a great touch,
and he was clearly the most interesting character of the bunch.

I must've entered the wrong theatre and watched a different movie

How did you feel about the biologist and the geologist? Well written, believable characters?

No, that was dumb, the geologist launched those probes and can't find his way out? Both characters were bad, along with the two co-pilots. The bet the two had? who cares.

Didn't expect there to be so much hate for the film, saw it yesterday with my girfriend and we both loved it, really enjoyed the 3D too which is something I usually hate

I get most of the criticisms of the movie, and agree with a lot of them, that said, I really enjoyed the movie.

I think it came down to what was great about the movie outweighed the flaws for me.

Want to see it again.

Like the comment section says, the film makes sense on a symbolical level, but not on a surface level.

Yep. It's like when a 4 year old talks, they tell you all the highlights but never fill in the gaps. This movie was all highlight with none of the thought making it onto the paper.

Just saw it in IMAX 3D...

Best movie experience in a long, long time.

Crowd was great, quiet the whole time...3D was jaw dropping. I usually fucking hate 3D, and though the glasses were shitty reusable yellow ones, it still looked unbelievable.

Movie was fantastic, I do not get the hate at all.

Here's what you do:

Go to the spoiler thread, read detailed reviews of it, sleep on it, sleep on it some more, think about it when you eat your cheerios, and you'll understand everything.

Like any movie that I really enjoy, I will read all dissenting opinions and try and figure out where it went wrong for others.

I don't see this one faltering too badly.
