I had it playing on my phone at work today and it was very funny. Had to pause it a few times so I didn't burst out laughing! I plan on watching it this weekend because I was only listening to it with earbuds earlier.
 
There doesn't seem to be an ongoing thread for Amazon Instant Video, so I thought I'd add this here:

Amazon Instant (via PS3) has added two tweaks it was sorely needing -- you can now add movies or shows to a "Watchlist" for later, and when you select a movie from a side-scrolling list to get details, you no longer get booted back to the beginning of the list when you return, you go back to where you were browsing in the list. Much more user-friendly.

I think there was a thread somewhere for the new update of Amazon Instant, but yeah, I think it has less of a following. I'm actually surprised that the Netflix thread isn't posted in that often, since I would assume it is fairly popular under GAF members.

Although I suppose this officially isn't a general Netflix thread.

Weird Xbox 360 problem; I want to re-watch Breaking Bad on Netflix on my 360 but it starts on the last episode of S3, which is the last episode that I watched. I want to start on S1E01. For some reason however, when I hit the "more episodes" tab, nothing comes up. What is going on? Am I missing something, or doing something wrong?

There have been issues before on Netflix where episodes are presented out of order, but if you log in via PC and go to your recently watched list, you'll see there is a link by each show for reporting problems...maybe they can straighten it out.

Did they patch in better support for the older PS3 remote? (Booting now to try it out...)

Edit: Sure seems better. Yay! Didn't even need to patch it, AFAICT, which is kind of neat.
 
So I finally had gotten around to watching Apocalypse Now last night, and feel the need to apologise to the internet for not watching it sooner.

I will make reparations, and pickup the 3disc blu-ray set to rewatch it (when i have a spare 5hours) in all its 1080p glory.

Be sure to also watch Hearts of Darkness, the documentary about the making of the movie. It's really great.

Has Instantwatcher been listing the incorrect available until dates for a while now? I see a lot listed as August 16, 2036. There's no way that can be correct for so many.
 
Netflix acquired the rights to the teen drama series “The Lying Game” and "Pretty Little Liars” from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, which produces the shows for the ABC Family cable channel.

For Netflix, the deal is further evidence of its growing reliance on television content to attract subscribers.

The first season of “The Lying Game” will have its Netflix debut in early 2013 after the premiere of the show’s second season on ABC Family. The first season of “Pretty Little Liars” will launch on Netflix immediately and the second season will be available on July 3, a month after the start of Season 3 on ABC Family.

The agreement between Netflix and Warner Bros. comes several months after the streaming entertainment company struck a deal for shows from the CW Network, which is co-owned by the Burbank studio and CBS Corp.

Although terms of the deal between Warner Bros. and Netflix were not disclosed, typically the per-episode cost for a dramatic show can run from low- to mid-six figures. When Netflix acquired the CW fare, the price tag for “Gossip Girl” was in the neighborhood of $600,000 per-episode. Rights for AMC’s “Mad Men” was estimated to be between $750,000 to $900,000 per episode.

Dramas, particularly serialized shows, tend to do well with Netflix subscribers, which is good news for Warner Bros. since its programs aren’t traditionally in demand as reruns for broadcast or cable channels.

Anyone recommend any tv shows to watch? I've watched Friday night lights,Breaking bad (when will they put up season 4 btw)
Arrested Development, Mad Men, 24, the Office and I just finished chappelles show.

I started watching Archer but it's only funny in places, does it get better in later in the season?

Thinking of watching Firefly maybe as I've heard that's pretty good.

Also any other Korean/foreign films similar to oldboy,I saw the devil,man from nowhere and sympathy for mr vengeance that are worth watching?

Archer gets really funny season 2 and the latest season that just aired.

I wish we could get some more Korean movies in here. I've never seen the third 'My Wife is Gangster' flick and would love it if the movies got put up on Netflix.

I had that problem with nothing showing up under the more episodes tab and it only playing the last episode when trying to watch Law and Order SVU and High School of the Dead. So annoying but it got sorted out.
 
Netflix and Buenos Aries-based Telefilms Tuesday announced a new multi-year deal to make "Hunger Games" and other movies available to Netflix subscribers starting this summer in Latin America and Brazil.

Through Telefilms, a major indie distributor in the region, Netflix will get some films four months after their theatrical premiere. Netflix has been in Latin America for nine months and has more than one million subscribers there.

"We are excited to now have such a fantastic flow of commercially successful and critically-acclaimed films for our members in the region," said Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer. "Telefilms has great taste and a great track record that now extends over 50 years and we are proud to be working with such a distinguished and successful company.

"We are pleased and honored to be part of this strategic alliance with the number one player in content streaming," said Telefilms prexy Tomas Darcyl. "By choosing to work with Telefilms, Netflix is providing Latin American consumers the most appealing and prestigious films available."

"Hunger Games" will be available to Netflix subs Aug. 18th. Other pics under the deal include "The Artist," "Shame," "The Chernobyl Diaries," "To Rome with Love," "Ender's Game," "Beautiful Creatures," "The King's Speech," "Midnight in Paris," "Biutiful," "Million Dollar Baby," "The Fifth Element" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind."

Since when did Netflix start stretching 2:35:1 films to 16:9? I was going to watch Serenity but had to turn it off because it was cropped to shit.

Are you sure it's not an open matte version.

Edit: I just compared several scenes and it is cropped.

Netflix is testing a redesign of its website that would for the first time separate movies and television shows into separate tabs, each with dozens of subcategories to help users sort through their thousands of options.

The potential redesign is currently being tested with a small number of users. If the video subscription company finds that the design increases overall usage, it could deploy the new look to all 23.4 million of its Internet streaming customers in the U.S.

Currently, users can find movies and television shows to watch on Netflix's website by searching or via suggestions the company makes based on content the user previously watched. The only subcategory currently featured in a tap on the top is "Just for Kids."

The possible redesign, pictured above, features separate "TV" and "Movies" categories alongside "Just for Kids." By hovering a mouse over either category, users can then select from subcategories such as "'70s TV," "Reality TV," "Documentaries" and "Thrillers."

The new look could make it easier for customers to search for specific types of content. For example, if you know you want to watch a horror movie but don't know which one, the redesign would provide a way to browse Netflix's entire offering. Within a subcategory, customers can slice and dice even further. On the horror films landing page, there are listings for "Zombie Movies," "Cult Horror Movies" and "Supernatural Horror Movies."

The company's well-known recommendations based on algorithms remain for users who scroll down the home page. If you recently watched "Teen Mom," Netflix thinks you might like "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" or "Basketball Wives."

A spokesman for Netflix declined to discuss whether and when the new design might be rolled out to all users. “At Netflix we always work hard to improve the instant click and watch experience for our members," he said. "That includes testing new features on our service to see if results in increased viewing."

Customers who watch more video, Netflix has found, are less likely to cancel their subscriptions, making more user-friendly redesigns one of the easiest ways for the company to maintain its revenue.

What? I watched that movie a few months back on netflix and it was shown in 2:35:1 then. Do they just randomly upload different cropped versions of films? I do notice they would have films be 16:9 sometimes when they should have been 2:35:1.

My guess is that it won't be allowed on Netflix for a while, so as to not eat into the DVD/BR sales. But that is a guess based on no facts really.

I wish it would be soon though. I signed up for that 2 free months of Blockbuster Toatal Access '3-disc at a time' plan and the wait for disc one of S4 is 'very long.' and it's not on Netflix.
I doubt I'll be able to catch it before S5 starts.

This so much... sometimes it takes me 10-15 mins just to browse my queue. And if I want to compare something? Like find out which version of something I should watch, the order of it? Lol... takes forever.

Yes! Let people tag things. That way we could tag things with our own categories. For example, I'd like to be able to tag stuff I'm interested in, stuff my wife is interested in, and stuff we're both interested in. Then we could narrow the queue down to just the tags we want to see.

It's good and new anime I have not seen. Most Anime I find to be crap, so this is a nice surprise.
 
spice and wolf is awesome. they don't have season 2. noticed season 2 was on this station called Fun HD on U-Verse... $7/month later i have now this magical channel called:

Funimation HD! Mind. Blown!

My Netflix is free. Some one else pays for it. I just use it.
