What did you hate about MGS4? As far as I'm concerned, MGS2 & 3 are two of the greatest games ever made, and they're generally favored over MGS4, but it all depends on what turned you off about MGS4. MGS2 & 3 are much better when it comes to story and gameplay, but they still have the long, crazy cutscenes and the somewhat convoluted control schemes that the series is known for.

The amount of boring and pointless exposition, the nonsensical plot, the awful attempts at humour, the controls, the gameplay itself was slow and shallow, I spent hours with the game, and I didn't feel attached to any of the characters and mostly I just wanted them to shut up and get on with something that mattered. They are the points that stick in my mind, but it has been quite a while since I played MGS4.

Alright, I just got my LBP Vita Beta code via email.

Shame it came just before GD. I really want to play both.

If you registered for the beta, you might want to check your email.

Edit: Beaten like an old quilt by too many people ... oh well. See y'all in the beta.

I'll take your code if you are going to play GR...

What game are you guys getting tomorrow? MGS or Gravity Rush?

I bought Modnation racers last week from BBY, but Best Buy is having a 100% extra trade in bonus, so Modnation will trade in for $22, so that helps a little bit, I'm still torn though, only played a little bit of MGS 2. I really liked Twin Snakes and then I played MGS2 on a Xbox and then it broke and I forgot MGS but everyone is raving about MGS.

and Gravity Rush...well its Gravity Rush

BOTH! Just preordered both on Amazon (DLC for GR, -$10 for MGS).

Loved the GR demo - can't wait!

MGS - I beat 2 on the PS2 back in the day, skipped 3... looking forward to playing the 2 MSX originals the most though :)

Looks like a new firmware update is up. Ver 1.69 I believe.
Or was this already available? Haven't used my vita in a while.

Either way, downloaded and installed in less than 5 minutes. Take that, ps3!
Also a question: is there any way to stop it from 'installing' whatever game card I have inserted every time I turn the console on?

Its a new update to me too.
Anyone have the changelog or anything?

So I bought a Vita for $163 on Amazon(it was an amazon warehouse deal), I also bought a 16GB memory card, and MLB the Show. Everything should be here on Wednesday, and I'm so damn excited.

First order of the day is to get on PSN and buy Mutant Blobs Attack.

looks like they patched the super collapse 3 homebrew exploit with this new firmware just FYI...

leaning towards picking up mgs hd collection over gravity rush...never finished mgs2 back in the day and actually wasnt too impressed with the gravity rush demo...

Unfortunately, I won't be getting Gravity Rush tomorrow due to a bit of a messup with Amazon on my part, but that's the one I'm getting.

I enjoyed the little bit of MGS Vita I played at E3, but I've already beaten those games, and Gravity Rush needs the support (and the demo from PSN, and mission of the full game I played at E3 was fuck awesome), so I'll be getting GR as soon as Amazon can send it to me, and MGSHD I may get in the near future.

It's so funny. I used to be all over the homebrew scene with the PSP. Now I just don't give a shit.

Just got shipping confirmation from Amazon. Release day delivery for both MGS HD Collection and Gravity Rush. Didn't know they were offering it, before it estimated June 15th delivery date.

Listen to this man.

MBA is such an amazing game. I loved About a Blob on PS3, and this one is a much more refined and polished version. A lot easier to play (in terms of controls; you had this weird claw hand thing going on the PS3 version, because you had to hold down a lot of buttons to do things like absorb, throw, etc).

I beat it, but I'm tempted to download it again and play through a few more times. It's just good fun.

Thirded...? MBA is a great platformer and dare I say my favorite game so far. Can't wait for Guacamelee.

Both! Had em paid off for weeks now. I bought literally nothing for the month of of May except for the Humble Indie Bundle V and that cost me a grand total of $10. I've been steadily working on my backlog (finished Kid Icarus and Code of Princess in the last couple of weeks) and I am so ready for some new Vita games.

And I sincerely hope that Jet Set Radio and River City Rampage aren't far behind.

This is a really strange post to make since neither I, nor likely anyone on GAF give a shit but the new Ben 10 game isn't coming to Vita. While I'm sure many of you are like "Who gives a shit" I think it's a bad omen of signs to come. D3 Publisher, and the developer of the game, Vicious Cycle have released a PSP or Vita SKU of every Ben 10 game ever made. They made the launch title Ben 10: Alien Racing for Vita, and Vicious Cycle's middleware engine Vicious Engine natively supports Vita. This should've been a rather easy port, but it's not happening.

It's just like how The Amazing Spider-Man is hitting EVERY system but the Vita.

Going to jump on the bandwagon and say Mutant Blobs Attack is worth playing.

It's not considered a bandwagon when the statement is true; it's considered fact.

Mutant Blobs Attack is an incredible portable game, and should be bundled with every new Vita purchase from here on out.

This stuff is a little disheartening. That's why games like Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation and CoD NEED to do well. We need these third party sales.
A little bit, yeah. With the economy the way it is I don't blame publishers for not wanting to stick their neck out for Vita. Sony's gonna have to have a great holiday this season or... gah.

I'm not sure what's up with the third party stuff. It's almost like some publishers are not sure what to do or are trying to wait and see.

An exclusive AC3 and COD Black Ops are great steps as is getting ports of big titles like Madden and NFS Most Wanted.

I just hope these games are good and there is a price drop for the Vita BEFORE the holidays. This system is too good not to be sell well and be supported.

Need For Speed Most Wanted is coming to the Vita, that will do well.

I hope it isn't an iOS port like it sounds like Madden is. For what it's worth, Need for Speed games reportedly sold very well on PSP which is why I found it weird EA didn't bother with a port of an older game for launch.

Okay... I have a kinda strange request here. I love playing social/sim farming games on my iPhone like Magic Tree, Farm Story, etc.

I know these games got some inspiration from the Harvest Moon games. I've always wanted to play one so I tried the SNES original a while back and couldn't get into it. I want to try again with one of the newer titles and I noticed there are three available on Vita. Innocent Life, Hero of Leaf Valley, and Boy & Girl. Are these streamlined and/or easier to pick up than the SNES one? Which, if any, would be good for someone like me that just wants to relax and play?

I'm no expert on Harvest Moon but I'd maybe hold off on buying them right now. I informed Natsume that the games are now playable on Vita and asked about a sale, they hinted there might be one.

I do know that Harvest Moon: Boy & Girl is basically an expanded port of Harvest Moon: Back to Nature (which is a PSone Classic title). Hero of Leaf Valley is a 3D on based on Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland, and I believe Innocent Life was a prototype for Rune Factory except in a futuristic realm.

Innocent Life doesn't feature any romantic interest
you play as a robot

Yeah, but here's something that annoys me about EA. They say they'll determine whether to support Vita (at least with Madden) by how well Madden 13 sells, yet they are making the Vita game a port of the iOS version! That just drives me insane! I mean, how dumb can a company be?! That's practically signing it's own death warrant.

Here's to hoping NFS is a proper version (not just for sales sake, but because I would love to have a good NFS game by Criterion on Vita).

Oh yeah EA is dumb for sure. I am hoping that Criterion respects their work enough to not allow Most Wanted to be a terrible iOS port. BTW I want to hear some proper hands on before writing off Madden for the Vita as an iOS port. They are creating a Madden Vita bundle for crying out loud, some effort should be required.

Wait a minute. This is the first I'm hearing of this? Please post your sources. I refuse to believe it considering what they did with FIFA.

It was leaked info from closed off area of the floor, special access needed, someone said it was nothing more than an iOS port with touch controls and all. I find it hard to believe, and there has been no official preview released that I know of.

For all we know it could have been someone trolling.

FIFA already had a PC version that was optimized to work on low end systems. Madden didn't so it would be a lot more work to bring it tot Vita.

Maybe they'll upgrade the iOS/Vita engine eventually as Apple quickly drops support for older devices.

I've heard the same as well.

From where though? I remember a posting here on Neogaf. No sources just first hand account and it felt like a fly by comment that didn't offer anymore details. Unless that person is a known reputable source. For the record it may very well be crappy, but I would just wait for more official previews or better yet actual trailers and gameplay.

Edit: BTW this is the only account I have found about Madden on the vita being like a ios/3ds port.

Oh okay, thanks for the heads up man! ^_^

I only get in to a game about 1 in 30 tries. It gets me into a list of people but then they all disappear and I get kicked back out to the menu. Its extremely frustrating.
This happens to me too, and it's pretty frustrating. I'd probably play the game twice as much if this weren't an issue. Am I just ignorant in thinking it's unacceptable to not have a solid multiplayer component, even on a handheld, in 2012?
