Now: LBP Beta
Today: gravity rush
next Tuesday: LEGO Batman 2
not-too-distant future (hopefully July? Please?): Retro City Rampage

Nothing coming in July? Aug we get Sound Shapes and Ragnarok Odyssey, so that's good

Anyone play Unit 13? Is it worth it?

I thinks it's really fun. Short missions (kill the enemy leader, retrieve intel, plant bombs, etc.), many variations (remain unseen, against the clock, multiple objectives, etc.) with a score attack mechanic.

I really enjoyed getting 5 stars in each mission.

July used to be the month of madden and now that is August. I wonder if a NCAA football is coming to the vita. Though that is a series that doesn't seem to come to handhelds for whatever reason.

That said give me Retro City Rampage in July I could care less what else came out.

I have an addiction and will buy MGS games every time they release.
So I have multiples of the same game on numerous systems now.

Can't wait to play 2 and 3 on vita though, should be an awesome experience.
Also Gravity Rush looks stunning can't wait to grab that one to.

I bought it full price. Not worth it. Terrible game.

It's actually one of the finest examples of how to do a shooter on a handheld: controls beautifully, looks/runs well, fun to play, and works in bite-sized chunks. Also randomized daily missions and cull co-op play. Not sure how any of this is terrible.

I just found out that Peace Walker isn't on the Vita release of MGS, and I'm pretty disappointed. It would be nice if they at least dropped the price on it.

when is Jet Set Radio due out? I'd forgotten about that.
This summer. I don't think the SEGA Vintage Collection release dates were announced until a week before they hit PSN/XBLA. They seem to be having a rough time with dates.

If you have $20 to burn maybe invest it in some PSOne classics since those will be playable sometime this summer.

Might I recommend Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy IX :) both $9.99 each

Easily 40 hours each. 60 if you savor it :P If you replay CC to get the other characters via New Game+ that's an easy 80 to 100 hours

Have them both =P

It would be nice if Sony offered more filtering/anti-aliasing options with the PSOne emulation on the Vita. Old titles might not look so hot as is (3D titles).

Bleem! it up :)

Anyone interested in PSone classics keep in mind when they do add PSone functionality to Vita they will probably have a sale on PSone classics to celebrate. That will be awhile, but just saying for those that still aren't use to sale tactics and will complain in 3 months.

I might wait a price drop on it, then. I don't think I could throw down $35 on it.

I didn't even think to check if it had a demo. Downloading it now!

I had originally canceled my gamefly account and then signed up again. Gamefly is definitely worth it with VITA rentals.

I might hold off on the MGS collection until PSone emulation comes and I can play MGS1 first.

Rest of the summer looks quiet and if JSR is out at the same time, along with Gravity daze, I have more than enough to be getting on with.

So my vita gets delivered today, is there a list of psp games that are compatible with the vita? I am interested in corpse party as well as a host of other psp games that I never had a chance to play.

Three words for you: Mutant Blobs Attack.

Bought, played, and loving it!

And now Sony is sucking me into its Music Unlimited service; I would have never considered it without the Vita. I hope this handheld doesn't turn out to be quite the Faustian bargain. ;)

I spent a good amount of time in the Sony booth, and they had several kiosks with PSOne Classics that were playable. I grilled the Sony rep standing by these kiosks for information and here's what I got (sorry if some of these are known):

  • They're saying it'll launch in "summer" but he said it's going to be Last August/Early September
  • At launch they're only going to have 12 games available. The ones I saw were Jet Moto and Final Fantasy 7 (which looked horrible btw).
  • At launch the games will not run fullscreen. They're running in their native 4:3 (which may have been why FF7 looked so bad). He expects this to be implemented in Q4.
  • At launch there will NOT be analog controls. It'll be D-Pad only. I asked him to repeat that one because I didn't really believe it. But sure enough when I booted up FF7 I could only control Cloud via the D-pad. He expects this to go in when Fullscreen support does.
  • Games purchased and free PSPlus games will still be free, so no need to rebuy.
  • Their plan is to release a dozen games a quarter until they catch up with all the ones available. He doesn't think they'll announce which games will be next, we'll all just wake up and there will be new PsOne games available.

what the fuck

So they're legitimately using the PSP emulator. Why wasn't that at launch if this is the case?

GROSSSSSSSSSSSSS

That's what I most wanted to find out, since games like Parasite Eve play MUCH better with an analog stick than with the dpad and it just wasn't an option on the PSP.

Sounds like they're shoehorning the PSP's PS1 emu into the Vita with no new features. Terrible, sad news.

Why would stretching or cropping games to 16:9 from 4:3 make them look any better? I wouldn't imagine their emulator would have the capacity to re-render the games in widescreen.

What else would they have been using?

My lovely wife is buying Gravity Rush and MGS Collection today. I'll have some games to play when we fly to Hawaii for our vacation next week. :)

Do we have any definitive proof that the Vita version of LEGO Batman 2 does not contain open world? I am pretty sure it does not, but I keep getting replies from commenters on youtube insisting that it has been confirmed.

I'm going to operate under the assumption that it does not... but I have a sliver of hope

Are you fucking kidding me?
