If it works with previously purchased PSOne games, why must we wait for them to be released?

I wonder if I'll be able to just transfarr all of them over from my PS3?

I spent a good amount of time in the Sony booth, and they had several kiosks with PSOne Classics that were playable. I grilled the Sony rep standing by these kiosks for information and here's what I got (sorry if some of these are known):

  • They're saying it'll launch in "summer" but he said it's going to be Last August/Early September
  • At launch they're only going to have 12 games available. The ones I saw were Jet Moto and Final Fantasy 7 (which looked horrible btw).
  • At launch the games will not run fullscreen. They're running in their native 4:3 (which may have been why FF7 looked so bad). He expects this to be implemented in Q4.
  • At launch there will NOT be analog controls. It'll be D-Pad only. I asked him to repeat that one because I didn't really believe it. But sure enough when I booted up FF7 I could only control Cloud via the D-pad. He expects this to go in when Fullscreen support does.
  • Games purchased and free PSPlus games will still be free, so no need to rebuy.
  • Their plan is to release a dozen games a quarter until they catch up with all the ones available. He doesn't think they'll announce which games will be next, we'll all just wake up and there will be new PsOne games available.

This is an absolute disaster. What in the world is wrong with you, Sony? A dozen games a quarter? What a joke.

My guess is they're doing this to try and increase sales. People want to play their PS1 games on the Vita but if you don't have many of the 12, guess what? You can buy them!

Ugh.

That list doesn't coincide with anything else reported on the internet. I'm inclined to believe the rep had no idea what he was talking about.

The date is the real thing that I don't believe. They've said summer but somehow he pegs an exact release period. Sounds like BS, tbh.

That's conflicting with a lot of what other sites are reporting. I think they didn't know a lot themselves.

Lol yeah another site said a Sony rep told them everything would be available day one. If it is a slow roll out that would be disappointing and not make a lot of sense.

Also if they are adding l2 and r2 support and dual analog wouldn't lend credence to an all new emulator native to the vita?

Escape Plan DLC will cost US$0.02 for two weeks

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012...ape-plan-the-asylum-dlc-released-for-2-cents/

:P I hope it comes with some new trophies too

shocking!

I would've paid $2.99+ for the dlc.

Read the last two pages and didn't see this posted.

Wanna get pissed off at microsoft?

They are the entire reason we don't have Retro City Rampage yet. They are holding the game up in cert and Vblank can't release it on any other platforms because it's a rule (that only the majors get special permission to break) that a game going on XBLA must not be released on other platforms first.

So yeah, it's passed Sony cert for the PS3 and Vita version. It's ready to go on Steam... but microsoft is holding it up.

Now, and this is where we get into conspiracy stuff and I will say that this is my opinion and not fact, but this isn't the first time MS has done this and they tend to do it when the xbox doesn't seem like the lead platform.

Dungeon Defenders was held up in MS cert for over six months. Trendy never really said why, but they did admit it was only MS holding them up. My theory on it is that the PS3 version had Move support, 3D support and was planned to be cross compatible with the PC and Android versions (a feature that mysteriously was pulled before launch.... which was 6 months after dev had finished).

IMO, if microsoft doesn't feel like they are the lead console they pull this shit.

The saddest part is for Dungeon Defenders is that according to their own numbers they sold less than 100k on the PSN and XBLA. They've cracked a million on steam. So they did that whole dog and pony show for nothing.

I think this is the reason why Orcs Must Die 2 is PC only. I wouldn't be shocked if Dungeon Defenders 2 (which is as of yet unannounced) is also.

If that's true, F them. The game once had a soft May release date. Now we have no clue when it will be out. BS!

The first part of it is absolutely true. They weren't shy about it on the floor at E3. Whenever anyone asked when it was coming out their answer was pretty much "We don't know, MS cert is taking longer than we figured."

The second part is conjecture - but I labeled it as such.

wait, what!? I've never heard this. That's a crazy business decision.

If I remember correctly, if a game is released on XBLA after being released on other platforms, it has to have some form of exclusive content. An example would be Joe Danger: Special Edition, which had a handful of levels that never came to PS3.

Lovefilm sent me Resistance: Burning Skies instead of Gravity Rush. Rather sad. But then I went to town and traded some games in and bought £50 of PSN credit so I can download Gravity Rush tomorrow :)

I considered buying a 32gb card but Gamestation were charging £80 for it. That is ludicrous.

Bought, played, and loving it!

And now Sony is sucking me into its Music Unlimited service; I would have never considered it without the Vita. I hope this handheld doesn't turn out to be quite the Faustian bargain. ;)

Good (wo)man!

And yeah, i use Music Unlimited all the time (though not on my Vita). Offline playback is cool. By the way, if you set up a playlist, i think you can play MU songs in the background. Not sure if it has to be in offline mode or not...

It's rather brilliant decision, as mean-spirited as it is. XBLA is a bigger platform, therefore they can get away with this shit.

It works for the tide of games I guess. But if a game comes up that gets a lot of specific attention, are they really not going to want it on XBLA later?

I think this would piss of developers more than damage Sony. Plus Sony's pub fund has brought some impressive games to PSN.

Joe Danger 2 is also an XBLA exclusive so those guys just really love Microsoft.

Why is this working for some people? Do they just happen to be on the beta already but haven't had an email/checked their email?

I logged into the beta site today clicked on vouchers and the redeem code was their I didnt get an email until I downloaded the beta.

Oh crap I live like 5 min away, when did you go??

I went on Friday of last week and got around 11 games total. I also picked up a charging cradle and a carrying case. Accessories were 50% too.

What I found and picked up:
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (Vita) - $15
Ridge Racer (Vita) - $12.50
Wipeout 2048 (Vita) - $15
Modnation Racers (Vita) - $20
Rayman Origins (Vita) - $20
Army Corpse of Hell (Vita) - $10
Little Deviants (Vita) - $10
Dynasty Warriors Next (Vita) - $20
Resistance Burning Skies (Vita) - $20
Uncharted Golden Abyss (Vita) - $20
Star Wars Episodes IV, V, VI Collection (Blu-Ray) - $15
Charging Cradle (Vita) - $10
Carrying Case (Vita) - $10

I have the Hori Case (which I think is very nice), but it doesn't have enough slots for the games. I am currently putting 2 games in each of the slots. Has anyone tried the sony game case or come up with something that would fit into the Hori case?

Well, that's really lame. I was considering holding off on buying a vita until that came out, but 4gb is useless to me :(

Well you can always sell the 4gb and get a larger card. I got the First Edition Bundle at launch which came with a 4gb. Put that sucker on amazon for $18 and it sold in about 20 minutes. Im sure the prices are lower now, but then again I paid $100 for 32gb and they've been $80 for the last month+ on amazon so you'll still be making out better than those of us that paid The Early Adopter Tax™

Yeah, but I was going to go with that Assassin's creed bundle if it gave me an 8gb, but considering I wouldn't play assassin's creed and don't want 4gb, I'd basically be waiting 4 and a half months for white vita :/ Whereas right now I can buy a vita at toys r us and get hot shots golf free, so that is tempting....I'm so indecisive :/

Do eet! Hot Shot's Golf is so worth it!

I know, that's why it's ludicrous. Since I was getting store credit I could have only got it there though. I am just going to have to wait a while I guess.

The amazing Friday releases in the UK. Mainland Europe gets games on wednesdays, UK has to wait until Friday

I never noticed that before. At least that will give me time to play Resistance I suppose. I wish I was playing Gravity Rush though.

Well right now with HSG is obviously the way to go.

Or, if you go to gamestop right now you get $50 back, which could mean HSG + Stardust (i believe they sell the download codes for it). --that is, if you're in america.
