I'm selling them for local RRP so $50, only way I could sweeten the deal would be to throw in a free minifig I mentioned on the previous pages.

Thought I'd show you guys my recently reconfigured Lego abode. Goddamn, do I need some more shelving.

EDIT: In before "there's a distinct lack of proper modulars in there...". I'M WORKING ON IT.

I want that truck you have on your right wall there. :( So awesome.

Also, that black shelf you have is AMAZING. It looks like the one I bought from Lowe's recently. It displays SO well!

Ok guys, I need your help.
I am bailing out of any new LEGO purchases, I just ordered a new macbook pro.
so please don't tempt me :p

of course ;)

Why else would anyone order one today?

I understand the feeling. I really want one. Yesterday as I was reading two liveblogs and following the thread, I was thinking I might need to put off some Lego purchases so I can save for it. Though I have also considered getting a 13" MBA for a while, and now they are a better value than a couple days ago, and really would still fit my needs. But that MBP w/Rd...

Oh I didn't realise they sold 13" MBAs now. Well neither have an ethernet port apparently so they're both useless. Also no white plastic.

Like white Lego bricks. /lego related.

My brother and I liked the original white gumstick iPod Shuffle because it felt almost exactly like holding a Lego piece.

Ha. Yeah, I love the Crane Truck. It was the set that my rekindled Lego infatuation. It's on Bricklink brand new for around 180-200AUD, so it's still very doable. DO IT!

The black shelf is swishhhhh. Ikea, my man. Ikea. Those damn Swedes.

Is there any sort of free PC program that is easy enough to use so that I could just let my nephews tinker on a netbook and build random LEGO projects?

Funny that you post that, I just uploaded them to imgur.

First floor complete. May add more lights and flourish to the front.

Back of first floor.

Completed first floor of split spiral staircase.

Second floor. Need to add a bit more flair to the front. Maybe some spotlights or hanging plants. I hastily threw together the two on the end.

Both floors together.

Back of both floors together.

Overhead view. The railing around the balcony is temporary for now.

I am proud of how the second floor locks with the first on the staircase. I need to add railings to the side so people dont fall off the second floor to the stairs below.

Later this week, I do the roof.

That is really impressive work. I think you should upload it CUUSOO when you feel that it's completed!

I had a dream just last night where a set appeared for 60% off, but then I couldn't where that set went on the website! D:
That'd be me. Except I'd probably eat lots of food before and after.
Warner Bros announced that Lego will be making sets based on the Man of Steel movie. Yay for more Superman sets!

http://www.superherohype.com/news/a...os-officially-announces-man-of-steel-partners
Oooohhh yes :) Exactly what I want!
Hmm, wonder why no Dark Knight Rises themed sets though? Most of the work is already done for them, just slap on some new paint, re-release the tumblr, etc. I'd totally buy.

Fire Brigade arrived today, although so did one of my Bricklink orders so I ended up putting together most of my air enforcer first. It's not quite complete, though...I'm still waiting on the ball and rotor piece as well as the (insanely overpriced) flex cables but I assembled everything else as I think I can clip on the flex cables without detaching anything else.

Neat model although it is slightly disappointing that the helicopter's sticks only work forward/backward. My old rescue helicopter had a full range of motion even if it was significantly uglier.

I also opened the minifigs I ordered alongside the fire brigade - for series seven I got a stuntman (bah) and my second black knight. I'm okay with the knight, although after feeling through bags the other week it feels both frightening and liberating just cutting into a bag without bothering to feel anything out.

And for my first two series six minifigs ever, I got two fucking leprechauns. Thanks Lego.

Hey! I only own 2 series 6 and one is also a leprechaun. At least you don't own 3 aztec warriors and 3 viking women while still never having pulled a single bunny suit guy, ocean king or grandma visitor. raaaage

Weep for me, Gaf. I've more or less just loaned my brother $5,000 (a third of my finances). Sopwith from my girlfriend later this month and then BAM! Hiatus, I guess. If only good karma came in the form of coloured bricks.

Score. Called around and a BN in another town has about a dozen series 5 figures left. They are holding them for me. Bad news: they are $3.95 each. Oh well. Small increase to get hard to find stuff.

Wow, did you guys see this new that LEGO Ninjago is being discontinued next year? Is this old news? I thought that theme was one of LEGO's cash cows. Not only am I surprised that they're discontinuing it, but I'm a little shocked that news of its discontinuation came out this early.

Last I heard, Ninjago will be continuing through 2013, including another season of the tv show (apparently, the next Ninjago sets will involve pirates or something - I don't really pay much attention).

LEGO themes tend to run in two year increments. Even evergreen stuff like Castle and Space tends to get sub-themes that go for two years (except for Kingdoms, dammit). For Ninjago to get three years is actually the exception - and truth be told, I'd rather LEGO put their resources towards a better theme than Ninjago.

Thread really slowed down after the Retina MBPs were announced :P Most unfortunate! Wallets everywhere are taking a vacation

Hope interest will pick up once the summer SW and Monster Hunter sets start spreading across NA.
Managed to snag a Stuntman from Series 7 today, so I decided to have a bit of fun.

Poor Stuntman

I dig it

Or you could be like me and not give a damn about a new MBP. ;) I used a Mac, but my PC is king. I love my iPad and iPhone, though - couldn't live without them. <3

Regarding Lego, I think most of the core active posters are here many times a day, but we are at an odd spot with releases. LOTR just came out with Monster sets and the new Haunted House. The lull will set in for a short bit until the next wave of 2012 models start appearing. :) It's time to gt your hands dirty with some MOC fun!

Yup, I've had a ton of pieces for custom minifigs turn up with more on the way, just today I got a heap of custom weapons and military wear. I want to trial a vest I got for Bane, see if it looks better than the decal I used, I'll post pics tonight when I have time to take a look at them.

Do you get your custom stuff from Brickarms (or is it Brickforge that does customs)? I've heard very good things about whichever one it is. I think people order from them to play the war-game that someone put rules out for with minifigs!

You asked for updates and progress on my cafe MOC, you got it!

Before

After

The tables and lamps. Going to raise the tables a little bit on the next revision.

Close up detail on the hanging plants. Attached to the second floor, but easily bent up to allow me to set the floor down. The long shaft pieces allow me to adjust the amount the plants hang, so I can adjust the height of them, as well as the angle of the plant themselves.

And because I am a goof...

It is funny how much just a bit more simple outside detail adds to much to the aesthetic on the outside. The outside first floor seemed extremely lacking before, but I think the lamps and the hanging plants bring it all together. The tables and umbrellas just add a bit more flair. If I had more flat tiles I would make the sidewalk complete, but I lack the parts right now.

The more I think about it, the more I think I need to get rid of the stage area and close off the second floor. Thinking of replacing the mediocre stage area with a fountain drink area or condiment bar. Closing off the middle of the second floor will allow me to put tables and whatnot on the second floor and add a bit more detail.

So far I've ordered from Brickforge, Brick Warriors, Brick Arms and Minifig Cat. Quality seems good on the first three so far, haven't opened hte minifig cat package yet so I'll comment tonight.

There are a few pieces I had issues with though, the "Hero" hair from brickforge is a very loose fit. I think it's one of the earlier moulds they did so it's not as refined as the recent stuff, I've had no issues with any of their other stuff though.

Brickarms I got a couple of black Sombreros which seem to sit a bit low on the head, no big deal as they're not loose and you can place them slightly up the head without it sliding down. That's the kind of things you can expect sometimes with custom stuff, but haven't said that that's the only 2 issues I've found from probably 20 times as many different pieces, all their weapon stuff has fit perfectly.

great detail, love the hanging baskets :)
are the lamps purposefully differently coloured?
No. I only had so many clear blue dishes, so I made the ones closest to the door something I had two of. The only clear dish I have tons of a clear red and that would look odd I think. I might have more blue dishes somewhere, but need to find them.

The hanging baskets I am proud of. Especially the studs going in both directions to make it look like the plants hanging over an edge. And I can adjust the height of each super easily. If you look close enough they are all off just a bit differently than each other. I wanted the tops to be brown circular plates, but I only had two and decided to just use grey for uniformity.

Built the fire brigade over the last few (or more) hours. My daughter's playing with it now and thinks it's great, although it's got a few parts that fall apart if you look at them so maybe it's not the greatest idea.

A lot of fun to build - maybe too much. I have a feeling I've damned myself to the point where only the crazier Technic sets or more of these modulars will offer a building experience that's as much fun and everything else will just be pedestrian.

If I had a complaint (other than missing one silly two-stud red piece for the flag) it's the second floor. It uses mostly reddish brown bricks but there are a handful of piece types that also come in a straight brown, and my brand of colourblindness made it nearly impossible to tell them apart. And of course, I mixed bags with pieces of similar size so I couldn't just figure out which pile had which ones and go from there.

I think the build took at least an hour longer because I had to hold those pieces up to the light, squint at them, and try and figure out which colour I was looking at. The instruction manual was a little easier as they seemed to enhance the red enough that I could tell.

The Fire Brigade drug strikes again!

And the color complaint wont go away with other modulars. It is only a different color to get stuck with.

Aside from the color issue, what did you think of the second floor? The second floor is still my favorite build this year.

And after Fire Brigade, if you dont go for another modular (and if you do, get Grand Emporium), I would suggest Tower Bridge just for the insane size of it.

Second floor was a lot of fun - the fridge mostly, although I enjoyed the kitchen pieces too (table tennis was kind of meh). I didn't care for the repetition on the brick front but I really like the way they look.

The date on the roof was interesting too. Interesting in an 'oh god Lego isn't supposed to fit together like this' way. I think if I undo a couple of pieces above that date the entire thing is going to pop out sideways.

There were other little pieces here and there where I was pretty impressed with how everything fit together, with you installing bits upside down via posts, inserting pieces reversed, etc. That stuff was really neat, and it's also nice going through an instruction manual that doesn't treat me like a kid by pointing out where every piece goes on each step. The older Lego instructions did that too, but I've noticed a lot of the newer sets spell things out a bit too much.

I think later this fall I might pick up another modular (the tower bridge is neat but its scale is unfortunately weird) and it'll probably be the grand emporium.

How many times a day do you make love to your Fire Brigade mate?

As promised here's some pics of the custom gear, first up is Bane, I need some opinions here which is better, custom piece tactical vest piece or the decal tactical vest?

bane2.jpg

I saw all this gear and had to get it all to make a SWAT guy, I wanted more to do a Batman vs SWAT thing but I figured I'd just get a couple first to see how it goes.

swat.jpg

The gas mask is seperate from the helmet, and the ventilator can be removed from the mask itself. The night vision goggles are removable and can swing down to cover the eyes.

I opened my cosmic cube escape set tonight and Deadpool was given some Uzi's for his baby shower.

deadpool.jpg

Black widow got some pistols as well.

blackwidow.jpg

I'm not that familiar with deadpool or black widow, are these weapons accurate enough for each of the characters? the silencers on both are removable easily.

I also got a different compound bow for hawkeye, which is better/more accurate?

hawkeye.jpg

Those are some excellent custom weapons! The colored bow on Hawkeye is SO good.

As for Bane, I like the dimension it adds to the figure (the new one), but I like the printed one due to the color. Tough call!

I'm no adverse to painting the tactical vest, I could buy some warhammer paints for it. Though it would pretty much amount to me colouring in the straps are darker greenish tan colour, I'd never be able to match the fidelity of the decal.

I forgot to mention for those that don't have hawkeye that he image on the left is the official LEGO bow, the one on the right is the custom one.

If you have the skill to paint it, I'd paint the tactical vest. The depth it adds to the figure trumps the print in my opinion.

As much as I love this build, I hate those hanging plants to be honest. They just seem out of place, even though the rest does indeed bring it all together.
You also really need tiling on the street, it dificult to picture the end result without it.

But apart from that, great original build. I can't wait to see pictures of it in your Lego street.

I need to get more flat tile pieces to assemble the sidewalk area. Sadly, I dont have anything with enough grey tiles to pull it off.

Anyone know of a good cheap set with a lot of grey tile pieces, preferably 2x2 and 1x6 pieces? I could do bricklink or pick a brick online, but just curious as to any good retail sets.

Yeah I can probably "colour" it in select areas, no so much painting details etc. Another option to look into could be to just use decals on the vest, not sure how that would work with all the curved shapest hough.

I am going to buy so many of these...

and put them on eBay

If anyone knows of anywhere to get them, I work for Sega Australia who just wrapped up the Olympics 2012 game (I can't take any credit for it though as I started there just after Beta). There's about 4-5 people there that are interested in getting a set each, so if anyone in the UK can get a box or sets cheap I know some buyers.

I can't predict what the prices will be for a set, on one hand it should be cheaper as there's on only 9 per set rather than 16, but on the other they're limited to the UK only so I imagine there will be a lot of people looking to import from the rest of the world.

I just want a bunch of the guy in the karate gi.
