Has there been any news about what's going on with the localization of the animation? I watched all the first 25 shows when they aired, but I'm real interested in seeing the last episode, and how the localization is handled...since I still have an attachment to the english voice cast of P4 the game.

Some news

Erin Fitzgerald has confirmed that she'll be voicing Chie for Persona 4 the Animation.

Chie's old voice actress apparently retired...so it makes sense she's not back.

Now if they still can't get Dave Wittenburg back to do Teddie then...it will be a shame since Lowenthals range is less than good.

300 minutes is roughly half of the season right? Unless they're including extras in that count. I'll wait for the complete set regardless. :)

At least with that size a set, it's likely they'll release the whole thing.

Wonder if they're getting 10 episodes out now because a network *cough*Toonami*cough* might be picking it up. It better release all episodes, unlike fucking Bakuman being shelved after the first disk.

Isn't it 1-13? Unless they plan on three volumes.

They do it that way because they can get you twice for 80-100 bucks instead of once for 60. lol

Well this is an awkward way to release the Persona 4 anime here
HOUSTON, July 31, 2012 – Sentai Filmworks announces a release configuration change. The September 18, 2012 release of “Persona 4 The Animation” Collection 1 on Blu-Ray will contain English language dub but not the original Japanese language. This change has been required by the Japanese licensor.

The revised Blu-Ray configuration of “Persona 4 The Animation” Collection 1 will be priced at $59.98 reflecting a shift from the former $69.98 price point.

“Persona 4 The Animation” Collection 1 on DVD will contain both English and Japanese audio, as well as the Japanese episode commentaries. Pricing for the DVD release is unchanged.

..............why would they do this?

First the issue with P4 Arena on PS3 being region locked and now this. Index is on a roll here!

Same reason, I'd imagine. Fears of reverse-importing at drastically lower prices. Japan and North America are the same blu-ray region, but not DVD.

"This is NOT the beginning of a new ATLUS policy, nor do we view it as a precedent or a slippery slope" my ass.

So I've been watching this lately after getting P4U to know what the fuck is going on in Story Mode. Is the series an accurate summary of P4's plot? I'm enjoying it so far.

Finished it today. One part of me tells me I missed a potential new favorite game, while the other thanks me for saving 100+ hours of gameplay from my packed schedule.

Will P4 Golden's story be way different from the original game/anime series? Might give a look into it if I get a Vita by then.

I didn't know this game had a cartoon. I might have to peep it. Is it any good?

I'd really only recommend it if you're already a fan of the game. It's pretty faithful to the source material and I like what they did with the MC's personality. Otherwise it's kinda just average in its own right.

There's also a few 'quality' moments as well.

Bumping this as I just got done watching the True End episode, and I figure the bump might remind others that the true end is now out there. So--

Really interesting take on the final events from the game. They really did a fantastic a job of taking the protagonist and making him into a fully fledged character where in the game he's a silent vessel for the player's thoughts across the course of this entire anime, and as such it really only seemed fitting that he faced his shadow, too. And so he did. Absolutely awesome.

Really nice Velvet Room music version in this episode, also.

The ending has the same bittersweet tone the game had - the uncertainty if the gang will ever all be back together again - which surprised me, given the timing the fact we all know that Persona 4 Arena is out and may even be pointing towards bigger things for the crew. That surprised me, as I expected them to nod to that, but they didn't. Either way, it was a good decision - the bittersweet touch of the ending coupled with how Yu has emotions of his own and sheds a few tears makes sense.

I'm someone who doesn't really watch anime usually, so a lot of the complaints about the animation and stuff went over my head. I watched it because I loved Persona 4, and I felt the whole thing was a great take on the events from the game - though of course the game is still superior.

Very curious if they'll do an anime adaptation of Persona 4 Arena, as what I've played of that game seems like it'd lend itself well, considering it's hours of text and visual storybook stuff bookended with a few fights.

Forgot to post my impressions on the True End. From the anime thread:

Persona 4 True End

Whoa, now this is something to set the anime apart from the game.
They actually gave Yu a shadow self (kind of) and made his own insecurities something actually believable and in line with everyone else's.
I gotta say, the extent they went to make Yu into his own character and not just a silent protagonist is really impressive, and it finally reached its logical conclusion here. Great stuff.

My only real complaint about this whole thing is they didn't play Genesis during the final battle.

It would be best if they at least waited until the P3 anime film is out, as P4A could just as easily been called P3A given what goes down.

Just curious have they recorded an English dialogue version yet? Tried to watch it and Japanese and the voices just didn't fit for me and were very grating on my ears.

How is this compared to the game? Can this only be enjoyed by fans of the game?

I would play the game but my PS2 no longer works and the PS3 I have isn't backwards compatible.

It's good, despite some questionable animation decisions at times. It's not a problem if you've never played the game, but it's that much better if you have.

Its already shipped and people got the dub, well it goes on sell in two weeks, eng dub (details just a few posts above with the boxart etc...)

--------

I think it can be enjoyed by people who didnt play the game, I didnt, though it does make me wanna play the game, just to really experience the interaction among the characters more. And the anime not having the protagonist be silent and actually have an identiy and character is awesome.

If anyones thinking about getting this, I found it at nearly half price.

I looked the site up and it seems like a legitimate site. If you didn't wanna pay the $60 because you'd only be getting half the season, well maybe paying $35 for half of a season is easier to stomach? I still don't really like the value proposition on that but figured others might be interested.

Is Charlie's (THAT'S HIS NAME, I DON'T CARE) English VA the same as Adachi's? Just started watching and it's kinda screwing with me every time he speaks.

Just finished collection 1 (loved it, except I didn't like the voice changes to king moron, naoto, and chie, though I eventually warmed up to her. Why didn't they get those voices from the game?).

When does collection 2 get released in north america? I can't find anything on amazon.com

Voices were changed due to the original voice actors not being available at the time of recording for one reason or another - I believe in Chie's case, her VA retired. At least they're using the same VA as in P4 Arena.

Same VA in P4 Arena as in the anime or the original game? And, are they redoing her voice for Persona 4: Golden?

And, looking around online, all I see is "in a few months" for collection 2, so I guess it isn't settled with a hard date yet?
