[Nintendo Direct 6/21] Super Smash Bros 4 a collaboration w/ Sora & Namco Bandi Games

Well Kos-Mos is a lock.

Also, given the link between Monolith developing Project X Zone if there is a chane we will see Sega and Capcom also on board with Namco Bandai when it comes to smash.

Nintendo knows that Rock/X/.EXE were one of the most requeted characters for Brawl and I doubt they would activily want to drop Sonic from the roster.

Fucking huge.

Holy shit, this game might actually be partially tailored to be viable competitively.

SMASH 4 FOR EVO

Uhh I don't see that happening.

Why would Nintendo care about Smash being played competitively when they haven't done so in the past?

I loved Smash 64, loved Melee, and really enjoyed Brawl, but when it comes down to it, I've loved them less and less as time went on... I'm hoping Namco can change things up a bit to get me back into it.

Since Namco-Bandai holds the rights to a lot of anime licenses, couldn't characters from the anime games they make be eligible for the game if Nintendo gives the okay?

Huh, interesting development.

They should put Cless in. Be pretty cool, and his artes could serve as his moveset.

With Sakurai in charge there's no way it'll be bad (regardless of your opinion on Brawl, it was far from a trainwreck). If having Namco to help on the balance means we can have a 50+ character roster, then sign me up.

Even if that means one of those characters has to be Pac-Man or some Tekken character, neither of whom had any impact on Nintendo whatsoever aside from Pac-Man NES having one of the first truly godawful ports.

No. Namco Bandai would have to pay the anime companies to use the characters for this game. Do you think they'll do that? It only makes releasing the game worldwide even harder too, as you have to settle out distribution rights.

Holy shit @ this news. Wow.

I'm hoping for good things. Really hoping. But I'm not gonna lie, I'm a little worried at the same time.

I've made this argument myself in Smash threads in the past.

...but why else would they bring in Namco? By no means do I expect Nintendo to make it some completely hardcore game, because accessibility is a cornerstone of Smash. It may just be help to create an online infrastructure for instance, because Nintendo can't get that right themselves. Maybe they want the raw manpower or one of the two teams to be allocated to each platform? Sora for 3DS and Namco for Wii U makes sense.

I am really glad I only ever get the Smash Bros. game for Mother-related stuff and not its crappy gameplay, because this story would have really annoyed me otherwise.

Namco *shiver*

Also before more people request Naruto and anime characters, the two rules for a character's inclusion are "has to have originated from a video game" and "has to have appeared on a Nintendo console".
