[Nintendo Direct] 3DS XL (90% larger screen, 4GB SD, better battery) OP has details

There are some countries, like Australia and NZ, where you HAVE to include the power supply with an electrical product. I think that's European rules as well.

No regrets about my DSiXL, which was my favorite version of the DS, having owned one of each. I'm sure this 3DS XL will be lovely as well, and looks more comfortable to hold than the 3DS.

That said, I just recently 'upgraded' to purple, and have little reason to jump on this until at least the holidays if there are sales.

And I'd find it hilarious if NA release doesn't include a power supply. Really trying to save pennies.

Except it isn't. Maintaining comparability across all devices is more important.
Them adding a feature that they have already half implemented isn't fucking up the comparability (compatiblity?). Did adding analog sticks to the playstation controller screw up anything? No.

Does anyone have pics of the NA Colors? We don't get white :/

I really hope they aren't black/red and black/blue...whats the point of mixed color especially if they are both black? ._.

oh my god, this happened so much faster than i/GAF thought it would...fuck, i dont want to lose my sexy zelda one but i need this in my life, i really do. i hope it somehow still fits in my pocket but if not I BUY BIGGER PANTS

for real, any word on colors yet? please say we've got something other than the white one in salsa's OP.

This is probably a dumb question, but does a system transfer also transfer the System Log times? I'll actually be a bit sad if my play times don't carry over.

I'm a huge Nintendo fan, and have had a 3DS since Day One. I've given Sony a lot of crap for no included memory card.

With that said, not including a power adapter is possibly the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard of in regards to selling a new device. That makes.... negative sense.

Would have thought they'd wait til later in the life cycle to release an "ultimate" version (DSi XL, GBASP, etc), but this is very welcome.

3DS really needed this. The screen is way too small and feels like a tinker toy next to the Vita's size.
The visuals in many 3DS games really deserve a bigger/large quality screen.

Nice to see actual buttons for start/select/home. Pressing in on that thing on the 3DS is not efficient at all.
Hope this revision also fixes the button screen edges "imprinting" on the top screen when closed.
They should have added on a second analog stick, but I guess they still want sales for the Circle Pad Pro or something. Or they'll just add it with a later revision. Or make it the showcase for the 4DS.

Perhaps this will increase the 3D effect as well...what do you guys think? A lot of times I can't really see any 3D effect and only see minimal things now and then on the regular 3DS screen. It ends up sort of making me dizzy and only makes the screen blurry with ghosting.

cool thing is that I can probably upgrage for a profit

not with those ugly as sin colors though

Yes. Everything comes over. Everything. The only thing you'll have to do after the transfer is re-confirm / setup streetpass settings, but everything comes over. Miis, stats, save, everything.

Wonder how much I can sell my 3DS on ebay for to pay for this.

Anyway, what are they gonna do about the Circle Pad Pro? Are they gonna make a new one specifically for the 3DSXL? Wish it came out a month earlier though, I'd love to play Kingdom Hearts on that huge ass screen.

So true. People already complain that DS games look blurry when upscaled onto a 3DS.
Thats because it's not a native scale. PSP games look amazing on the Vita because the Vitas resolution is precisely 2x the PSP. The 3DSxl could have done the same.

I'm hopping is just a Japan only thing since people said previously that the same happens with other electronics over there.

No, it could not. Vita emulates the PSP at some level, which is hard to achieve let alone reach 100% compatibility, which the 3DSXL NEEDS, unlike Vita's with legacy PSP games.

Nope. No such law in the UK at least.

The only relevant law is that if you sell an electrical product with a plug, it must be properly wired and sealed to british standards.

A product does not need to come with one in the box. As long as it's available seperately, it's fine.

I hope to hell Nintendo get's Nintendo Network up and running before long so I can register all my downloaded content to my account and trade in my current 3DS without worrying about losing all that stuff.

I kind of understand it - if people have a DS charger...it adds unneccessary costs to an expensive system.

If you need it, buy it - long as its not over priced and its made clear to customers (e.g. on the box/shelf/check out) I think it makes sense.

Well, this was money well spent. Welp.

Yes. The AC adapter is five bucks or something. Five bucks you can save if you already own one. I really don't see what's wrong with that.
And five bucks you have to pay if you don't. At least Nintendo's profits stay healthy...
