[Nintendo Direct] 3DS XL (90% larger screen, 4GB SD, better battery) OP has details

Does 3DS profile transferring include my play time listed for each title? For some reason, I am completely obsessive over that page lol.

Can somebody tell me what would happen if stores ran out of chargers once these go on sale? Since Nintendo is doing something as messed up as this that can easily happen.

I kind of understand it - if people have a DS charger...it adds unneccessary costs to an expensive system.

If you need it, buy it - long as its not over priced and its made clear to customers (e.g. on the box/shelf/check out) I think it makes sense.

I'd bet money it'll be $19.99 and costs ~a dollar to make. They sell for $3 on eBay. This is a (stupid) money-grab by Nintendo.

it makes zero sense. It's a fucking handheld device. It's like not including a charger with a cell phone or lap top. It's stupid and cheap of Nintendo. Pathetic really.

All those that wanted and are holding out for a second analog crack me up. It's no longer the 3DS anymore if they do that. They changed the hardware then. Consoles like this are made for a certain set and games and games are programmed to be very specific for that platform. By making a second analog stick, not having the game work on the previous model leaves out the majority of users.

Yes. The AC adapter is five bucks or something. Five bucks you can save if you already own one. I really don't see what's wrong with that.
Really? You don't see what's wrong with that. It's insane that a company in 2012 would release a system without an ac adapter and people don't have an issue with it. I can understand some not caring about the 2nd analog but no ac adapter makes no sense at all.

Are virtual console games using the dpad still going to be really horrible to play? Looks like the dpad is sorta in the same place, I can't tell if this solves my ergonomic issues with OG 3DS.

Will my DS Lite Adapter work with this?

Someone should put the EU details in the OP:

Red, Blue and Silver
July 28th
No price (retailers set price etc etc)
No power adapter, available on its own
No cradle, available on its own

This is terrible because there is no second stick, and I bought the circle pad pro. I am torn.

There are some countries, like Australia and NZ, where you HAVE to include the power supply with an electrical product. I think that's European rules as well.
There's no such rule. In fact, in the EU, it'll be the other way around soon if I remember correctly: Including an AC adapter with cellphones will supposedly be banned, and all manufacturers are required to use the same plug. It's an ecological thing.

Love LOVE bigger screens.

Birthday is in August. Thank you, Nintendo!

Best Buy still gives 100% trade in credit till July. I'll be trading in some things and pre-ordering it as soon as it's available.

If developers would stop making games with shitty ass cameras we wouldn't need to have to maintenance it all the time. Some games have a legit need for right analog camera control(not talking about first person viewpoint, metroid prime proved that you don't), most however, just seem have a bad system in place and use it as a crutch. I don't mind it for other uses though. It being there would be fine I guess, but it not being there doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Hopefully it forces better camera systems to be implemented in later 3D games. Who am I kidding. That won't happen

Yeah, the colors and no cradle/AC Adapter are just baffling decisions for NA. Doubt I'll be upgrading.

Yeah, you're right. But Nintendo made the fucking adapter. Now that decision seems even more insane.

Where is the report of no adapter in US? I don't see anything on their website or press site.

Why is having better looking games not a point again?

And no, I never expected Nintendo to up the resolution anyways. This is exactly what I expected Nintendo to do.

So you up-res them. They'd look the same and use twice as many pixels. Assuming a dedicated upscaler part it still wouldn't be worth the cost because few would even notice.

Yeah, WTF. I'm really confused by this decision. So are any future games going to support the stick on 3DS?

You do realize that this is Nintendo we're dealing with here, right?

Remember the broadband adapter? The e-Reader? The Mario Dance Mat?

Nintendo fractured their market once with Wii MotionPlus. They won't do it again.

By that logic, why not scrap the sd card & stylus as well?

I bet If they scrapped the 3D, people would defend that shit too.

Having scream at every opportunity that there wouldn't be second analog stick on the next 3DS redesign/revision, I feel smugly vindicated.

Whelp, time to look towards selling my 3DS. I guess I'll lose my Ambassador games though.

I plan to buy the revision and transfer my Ambassador games to the new one... Why wouldn't you?

I have to wonder how games will look on the bigger screen. A bigger screen at the same resolution doesn't sound ideal, but a bigger screen should help with a better 3D effect.

This is probably a dumb question, but does a system transfer also transfer the System Log times? I'll actually be a bit sad if my play times don't carry over.

don't know but damn, i love this stat tracking SOOO MUCH.

not upgrading it if doesn't transfer, for real.

Hey Nintendo, you know when a good time to announce all of this stuff would have been?
This is really the thing that mystifies me the most about this whole thing. Surely they could have found some time during one of their four press events during the week where they get the most exposure possible.

I own two compatible AC adapters already. I don't need a third one, so I'm happy I'm not forced to buy one.

I'm sorry, I missed it, and can't find a post about it going back.... What colors is this releasing in here in the States? TIA

Because if it did include the adapter I'm sure Nintendo would charge $204.99 MSRP for the system, right? They are simply being cheap rip off new adopters. It's pathetic. People claim companies are anti-consumer for shit like DLC or online passes when this is a lot closer to being that and you want to give them a pass.

But hang on. A bunch of you guys in this thread said that there wouldn't be a new 3ds model for a few more years.....

smart money was them doing it for nsmb2 launch. they're trying to replicate the success nsmb and the ds lite shared with each other. for all intensive porpoises, this will essentially be a relaunch of the 3ds, with nsmb2 leading the way.

Because I'm sure Nintendo would have charged $202.99 for this device had they opted to include one at cost instead of "saving you money."
