I heard those rumors too. But Nintendo made the peripheral, and Nintendo, Namco, Konami, and Square supported it in addition to Capcom. So even if the rumor is true, support went well beyond Capcom.

But the Capcom/Monster Hunter angle definitely undercuts the idea that Nintendo had put it out to "fix" the 3DS and that it was "inevitable" that a revision was coming with the second stick, etc.
It was always just an add on.

not surprised at the no-show analog stick. Colors are bad, but whatever.
But I do wish the edges were sharper/edger.
Most importantly I wish the buttons were bigger. At least the same size as the GBcolor.

I hate using the word "kiddy" but I can't help but feel like the case designs on these are really kiddy. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it just has a slight Fisher-Price type of look (mainly the red and blue ones. White isn't too bad at all). DSiXL looked really classy, but this, not so much. I will say that I'm really glad they put in real buttons for those bottom three actions below the bottom screen. I hate those on the current 3DS. The inside as a whole looks good on this new model. I'm so glad that its matte.

I like the look of that red one but will wait a few more months when I can get a handful of games that will keep me playing the machine non stop. I already have mk7, mario land in my list and I am interested in some kid icarus and resident evil but layton and hopefully some more eshop games will push me over the edge to buy one this holiday. I bet the good colours will come out staggered throughout the year like they did this year for the 3DS

I see the speakers are a little different (circular instead of the cross we have now). I'm assuming sound will be louder/clearer?

See, I'd totally jump on a blue system that was like the matte metallic blue they had on the DSi Mario bundle (which I own).

This looks nice and I want it but I can't justify spending money on this when I already have an original 3DS and I'm going to buy a Wii U this year. Maybe at a later date.

I just realized that DS games are going to probably look like shit on this. :| Hopefully Nintendo adds some emulation options to the firmware in the future.

no they won't. In 1:1 mode, they'll look identical to how they did on the DS Lite. Think about it. No upscaling or stretching at all. A few gaffer's are already considering trading in their DSi XL's because of this.

My completely uninformed conjecture is that XL was going to have a right stick, but it was scrapped after 3DS sales picked up. The main reason I think this is that the same source for the insane CCP rumor also said a revision would be coming in early 2012. We got the revision, but no stick.

CPP was primarily conceived for Monster Hunter 4, so I don't see how they could not put out a CPP XL with so many JP upgrading to this.
