[Nintendo Direct] 3DS XL (90% larger screen, 4GB SD, better battery) OP has details

This thing looks glorious, and I am all over it come the 28th, but I am definitely gonna be less inclined to carry it around to get coins and streetpasses. Still, awesome stuff.

I'm surprised NoA isn't releasing one of black, white or gray. The blue also looks dumber than I thought it would. I was hoping for the new dark blue the regular 3DS has.

Not concerned about resolution (DSiXL taught me well).

AM concernd that that beautiful top screen might get scratched by the bottom one when closed!

quick question about transfers...
i bought my zelda one, then an ambassador one, merged once onto that and back to my zelda a week later, natch. so i think that's 2 transfers gone? buying an XL makes 3, im wondering if they somehow make a nice XL LE (did they every do this for DSi XL?), if i should worry about running out of transfers.

hm, was hoping for a second integrated analog stick. Bigger sized handhelds don't really do it for me... portability is what I'm looking for. Does it have any other benefits or just size? Battery life improvement maybe? Brightness, screen quality?
I once felt the same but I picked up a dsi xl a few weeks ago and it's changed my life.

All those rounded edges make it look cheap as hell.
Why those but not the cheap looking plastic, or how the 3D indicator's gotten rid of in favor of a plastic indent? Rounded corners are purely design and make more ergonomic sense, it doesn't necessarily take up more or less materials than sharp corners, and I doubt it makes a difference for engineering.

So........why the fuck wasn't this announced at E3?
And why no second stick?

Thanks for making a blue one, Nintendo! ;)

Think they wanted to control the amount of info at E3. Wii U, ZombiU and Nintendoland were the things they wanted to push the most.

This is the reason why E3 was a disaster for Nintendo, they totally misjudged the amount of quality content to create buzz.

If they announced 3DS XL at E3 it would take away the buzz from the Wii U stuff.

Ugh. I was so hyped for this. Was gonna get one day -1.

But then NA announced their colors. Seriously, Reggie? Fuck you. This bullshit is getting ridiculous man.

Keeping my regular old black 3DS for now.

Looks gorgeous! What about CPP support, is it getting one?

Has anyone quoted the billions of gaffers who said it would definitely have the second stick and extra triggers btw? I'm glad it doesn't incidentally, most games haven't needed them.

You guys are crazy. The blue and the red are hawt. Especially that red.

3.5 to 6.5 hours ? I'm very disappointed, even if it's going to be used mostly at home :-(
At least, i hope the screen quality is better.

Would have bought it with a second stick. Meh.

Yes, you would have brought it with a second stick that barely any games would ever use, because the majority of the millions and millions in the world who own a 3DS have the original model - the result being of course, that no developers would fucking support it in fear of limiting their customer base.

ITS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

Why don't Nintendo use real numbers to tell us how full our memory cards are?! I upgraded to a 32GB SD card cos I ran out of space on the 2GB card that came with the unit. If I want to transfer my stuff from one 3DS to another, I'll need to buy another high capacity SD before doing so, right? I can't just slap the same SD card in the new 3DS XL.

Love the redesign, love the improvements, a little disappointed there isn't a second stick, but most disappointed in how the material looks in the one clear photo I've seen. It looks like a poorer-quality plastic or finish and it isn't as attractive as the 3DS or DSiXL finish.

Hopefully my opinion will change as we get better pics, but at the moment it looks a little cheap next to the 3DS/DSi/DSiXL.

So like some people here, I'm concerned with how the games are going to look on a bigger screen. I know the DSi XL does a good job for DS games, but what about upping games in 3D?

You don't need all of your stuff pre downloaded to transfer everything, the transfer tool should transfer your shop account and licenses, along with everything else around the systems' account.

That's nifty. Presumably I'd lose thebsave data of tose games I am unable to transfer and would have to download at a later date?

Also, did I read somewhere here that you sold your 3DS man?

I agree. The plastic looks super cheap in that picture. Hopefully it's just the lighting, but I'm not so confident in them at this point.

I knew the revision won't make that big of a jump. The original 3DS fits my needs better, I prefer portability.

What does that have to do with it? (genuine question)

Not sure if he's serious, but not including AC adapter is in line with EU political trend (environmental reasons). It isn't really bad, most households have a tons of adapter, often the same multiple times because of all the handhelds, phones and what not. This really needs to stop.
It's annoying that the exclusion of the adapter doesn't result in a cheaper price though.

And to be fair, my dad bought an iPod nano, and it came without an adapter as well. It's nothing new here.

Haha, guess all those "will wait for the revision with the second analogue" are still in for a long wait.

Might get one of these if the price is right. Portability isn't an issue since I only ever really play my 3DS at home anyway. I wonder if the screen on this fixed some of the ghosting issues?

I did. I was really struggling for money last month and had an offer for it.

I'm getting a 13k windfall soon, most of which is paying debt and stuff but I was planning on getting another 3ds. Now I'll wait until the end of July and decide whether I want this bad boy instead!

Cool man. Do it. :)
