[Nintendo Direct] 3DS XL (90% larger screen, 4GB SD, better battery) OP has details

Black, white or silver. I don't (and won't) own any device of a different color. Nintendo is out of their fucking minds if they're really only offering colored models. I tolerate colors since there are many kids (and adults with bad taste) interested in them, but the colors need to be in addition to a standard black or white model. This is just... god fucking dammit.

Oh no! Colors! The horror! Now everyone is going to think down on me!

Blue and red are actually that intolerable to you?

The amount of hate for this thing is unbelievable, but I think it's a case of the happy and complacent ones not feeling the urge to comment among the negative people.

This thing looks awesome, and I couldn't care less about the color. My GameBoy Color was purple, and it was AWESOME. I can't wait to buy this thing. $200 is a fantastic price, too.

Woo!

At the cost of sounding like a dick, I have to say I'm surprised a fatter version of what's supposed to be a portable is getting this much hype.

DS is reasonably small to sport around, I can even fit a PSP in my pocket fairly well, but the XLs I've seen necessitate a bag or something. If the point is larger viewing area then they should've also thrown in a TV output option like the PSP 3000. Comfort side I thought was supposed to be handled by the frankenstick which also provides more control options.

What's the GAF consensus on the 3DS XL being on sale at Amazon? I know there are a lot of naysayers, but many people have noticed Amazon not selling any Nintendo systems (shipped and sold by Amazon directly, that is). I ordered my regular 3DS from them and I hope to do the same for the XL, but it seems Amazon had it with many returns and / or reports of 'headaches' (be them real or fake) from the 3D effect, or who knows what other reason they seemingly stopped selling the 3DS.

The thing is, you have to consider that most people got used to the DSi XL.

I went like this DS>DS lite> DSi XL

going from DSi XL to 3DS would have felt weird for me in the sense that I got used to the bigger screen. Having a lower screen being just a little bit bigger than the default DS lite one would have been really off putting. Nintendo was smart to put this out at a reasonable time. Now I can go from DSi XL to 3DS XL without it feeling weird or like a downgrade.

I am possessed of such maturity, I see the world itself in shades of burnished silver. Upon the forehead of all men, my piercing vision reveals an unequivocal number burned into the very flesh. It denotes the grand sum of their intellect and worth, and I shall brook no association with the numerically deficient.

Who's problem is really with the color, and not the fact that they aren't solid. All of that black with that small amount of color just looks absolutely tacky.

If there was a solid red or blue, I would be completely happy with that.

I play DS games on my DSiXL, and my 3DS games obviously on my 3DS. No problem for me; Not sure how, or why it would be weird.

Not sure why people really care about colors making their system look childish. You're playing a friggin' video game system, jesus.

I might buy this because I'm a consumer whore, but I'm not sure if it's worth the plunge. I'd be able to transfer all my ambassador stuff, right?

Oh and matte for life.

I don't get why Nintendo can't give us at least silver x black. I would really love white but the silver would be okay also. The red and blue models just look so flat in color and are tacky (IMO) due to them being together with the dark black of the rest of the system.

Is there someway to contact Nintendo about this? lol I can't believe I'm this annoyed by the color of a system. It just doesn't make sense to me that Nintendo won't give us a "neutral" basic option like the other countries have.

If the only countries only had red and blue, it would make more sense to me.

Yep. I would be okay with the red if that was the case.

I would still prefer an all black or white one though but yeah, that would at least be better.

handhelds need to be bright.

they need to release a nice pink XL.

Seriously. I always wanted a DSi XL in this shade:

Absolutely magnificent. I'm not so insecure that I need to have a plain black console in order to make myself feel grown up and mature, stop being so boring FFS.

Colors are fine. Their choice of colors along with the finish/design of the system is what is shit.

On the topic of color..I'm kinda torn.
I like both colors, but not as much as something like "all white" or "all black".

I'll probably go with blue, since is my favorite color.

Yeah, it's weird. My "favorite" color is blue, yet, I would've preferred to have a black model like with my DSi and 3DS. Oh, well. The inside is all black, so while we're playing, it won't be any different. Good to have some change once in a while. :lol

I assume if I imported a silver one, I would be stuck with the Japanese eShop and language eh? What about games? i never card before seeing the silver. It is awesome.

The thing that pisses me off is the 25% red/blue 75% black color scheme they have going. Give me solid white, or solid black, or solid red. None of this half and half shit.

I don't understand all the complaints about the color scheme. I don't remember people complaining like this when the Cobalt/Black and Crimson/Black DS Lites came out, or when the DSi XL came out.

Anyway, I finally got my black and blue system, so I'm happy! I was so upset that the Midnight Blue DSi XL wasn't available at launch, but I won't miss out on a black and blue system this time around! :D

Because those colors were as bold as the black on the system itself.

In the case of what we have here with the 3DS XL, the blue and red is really flat and dull and therefore looks tacky with the dark black.

it really looks like a cheap, fake aluminum finish. They should have just gone with the glossy or metallic look of the previous 3DS. At least those embrace the plastic-ness.

I only wanted the blue one once I saw it pointed out the blue matched Slime merchandise. Holy crap, that went from "I wish this were a different shade" to "GETTING THIS IS FOR DRAGON QUEST". I do like the blue DSi XL more though once we remove the Dragon Quest factor though, and I'm REALLY hoping that 3DS XL looks better in person than in pictures, it looks like it might be the right shade of blue for me, or at least close enough.
