Yeah, they stay in the cloud for 6 months after your subscription ends.
Excellent...

...next noob question - there's no way I can move over my download history/swap account from UK to Canada is there? I'm aware this is the case for Xbox Live but wasn't sure about PSN.

Afraid not, not as far as i'm aware.
Didn't think so.

I don't know why the platforms don't allow you to change your location - even if it's once every two years or something. It's going to suck have to lose my PSN titles when I inevitably have to get a new account.

(though a lot worse on the Xbox side, I've got 50+ arcade titles - easy)

Do we know what's coming this week ?

next tuesday won't have anything interesting on the store most likely, but it should have the preview for july around that date. The 3rd of july should be the next decently nice update (aka new free games)

So what would be a good time to subscribe to PSN+? I've got enough money for a 3 month subscription on my US PSN account, the goodies available right now will be available till the end of the month, right?

Yup, they'll all be available until the end of the month. So best to subscribe near the end of the month to get your money's worth.

It's usually the first store update of the month

Is this true for sales as well? I want to get RDR, which is on sale for $18, but I want to hold off until the end of the month if possible, as I wouldn't be using PS+ until then anyway, and I want to get the most of my free 30 day trial :D

edit: NVM, I see it ends Tuesday.

Sales usually happen every week (as new games come out, they may get a + sale discount). But free games are usually offered once monthly, although some games come out as free for plus when launched, so then it may be any week.

No matter how you do it, a 30 day trial will span two monthly "big update" periods and whatever you happen to get in the middle. As to the RDR sale, check the "last chance" folder under plus, if its in there, it will go away at the next week's update (Tuesday).

So how do I keep games I want to download later on? What if I downloaded a game, played it, deleted, and then later on I want to download it again?

And for future reference, just check the "Expiring Soon" section in the PS+ section because anything in there expires the next time the store updates on Tuesday.

It should still be in your download list.
Or just find the game within the store and you'll see it has a red shopping bag next to it so you can download it again for free. The download list is worthless for me now that it's so long (closing in on 600 items).

Wait, I remember there's a download list in the account management. If I start a download, is it automatically added to that list, and I can start it at any time I want?

Yes. You dont even to start a download, just check out. Once you are checked out, everything goes into that list.

Speaking of which, I wish we could have a better filter for that list, and maybe go through and check things, then download all at once.

Anyone know where you go to turn off the cloud save shit? every time i start a game it keeps prompting me like hey you got this cloud save why don't you use it? i have 0 interest in having my saves in the cloud, i back up all my saves every week and a full backup every 2 weeks for a reason :)

Also any news on when the full PS3 games get switched out? every 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 4? And what happened to the PSone free games? i just recently got back into PS+ and when i was a PS+ member for over a year they were always giving PSOne games for free and pretty damn good discounts and now i see no decent discounts or free PSOne games, do the discounts come every 2 weeks or something? i haven't really read up on it so i don't know much about it. Honestly i just want to disable this stupid cloud shit.

1) You can't turn it off. But if you're that obsessive with backing it up, why not back it up in an extra place? :P

2) Full games should be switched in pairs every 16 weeks (12 in EU)

3) See:

What about my PS one, PS2 and minis?

Based on all the feedback we’ve had from you guys over the last couple of years, we’ve decided that our subscribers would be better served by offering you more digital Blu-ray titles and top of the line PSN games, rather than scrabbling around to find a compelling PS one or minis titles. That said, if a truly awe inspiring minis title or one of the greatest PS one or PS2 titles that ever existed suddenly shows up on PS Store, you can bet your britches that we’ll secure it for you.

4) There will still be discounts

The EU blog post describes the new Plus pretty well http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/06/05/heads-up-playstation-plus-update-6th-june-2012/

...you manually back up your saves? Isn't that kind of a waste of time if you're not using the auto upload feature?

1 is switched every month (Game of the month)

3 are there for a full year

6 are switched every 12 weeks (in pairs) (8 switched every 16 weeks in US)

Other random games will be added in between too

I really wish they would fix the download list, it's absolutely terrible with a lot of downloads. It's so frustrating to use it.

I think 16 weeks is the max window, not necessarily meaning it's actually every 16 weeks

I can't even use it to find stuff based on when I downloaded it any more either since it changed a bunch of my PS+ downloads to the date my second year of PS+ started. It's completely worthless to me.

Was just about to post this.

Ugrhhh, its so bad scrolling to number 300. Especially when half way through it times out and just kicks me back to the XMB.

Do you realize that if you use cloud saves, they'll still be saved to the hard drive first? All the automatic cloud saving does is back them up every couple days. Also keep in mind the manual backups (even the full backups) to USB won't do much good for locked saves if your PS3 dies.

Has anyone else used up all of their cloud game save storage? It's such a joke. When are they going to expand it?

I haven't used it up, but I haven't saved a ton to there, heck there are one or two saves that I can't back up on there because they are bigger than 150mb lol

8 switched in pairs every 16 weeks, so that means 4 updates for 16 weeks, or 1 updates per month, along with game of the month stuff, that mean we can expect 3 new title every months, and including the yearly updates, we'll get 6 titles for that particular month update. Am I getting it right?

Do we know when we got our next batch of free games? And what title it might be?

The next new games should be Tuesday July 3rd, and the games should be announced this coming Tuesday or weds on the playstation blog.

I'm hoping for moon driver :P

Downloaded strangers wrath, the Sega top Down game and super chime. None really did anything for me.

Still 5games left to Dl. Darksiders alone has covered my sub fee and i know I'll go back to Outland at some point.

The OP helped answer many of my questions but I still am curious about re-downloading games. If I download the free games for a certain month and delete them pretty much immediately (I don't have a lot of space on my HDD), will I effectively mark them as "owned" and be able to download them later while I'm still subscribed? For example, if I want to play LBP2 and Infamous 2 but only have room for one, can I download LBP2, delete it, download Infamous 2, finish it, delete it, and then re-download LBP2 and play it later without having to worry about losing the free game offers? Thanks!

yes, they get added to your download list.

You don't even hace to download them, just add them to the chart, accept and cancel the donwload.

I filled it only because SSX has a stupid secondary ghosts save file that is over 100MB by itself. Its not the main save file with progress, just ghosts. Other than that, all my other save games are below 50 MB combined.

Oh really? Fair enough. The EU blog pretty clearly says

You have six whole games to start you off, and as each pair of titles is replaced, the next pair will be around for 12 weeks.

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/06/05/heads-up-playstation-plus-update-6th-june-2012/

So definitely makes it sound like they change every 12 weeks.

However, most titles in SCEA Plus will stick around for 16 weeks before being refreshed

Indeed. It's so stupid. SSX saves the ghosts to the cloud as well. They are 100MB of the 120 LOL :D
edit: ah, AndyD mentioned it as well :)

@ changing time: It's 12 games changing every 16 weeks in US, 10 games changing every 12 weeks in Europe.

My impression was that it would 2 games of the 12 or 10 every month, probably in the middle of the month, with one "big" game changing at the beginning of the month, so three games total every month.

I know the wait for July has been longer than usual, for me personally, as I'm eager to see just what they do.

Unless you consider your console turning on briefly during the night a drawback, there is no downside to saving in the cloud. It's free backup storage. I still don't get why anyone would opt against using it.
