PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Gah! PS+ license renewal is totally busted on the PSP. I bought a Vita recently and thought my old PSP would make a nice machine for my kids, so I spent ages loading it up with all the good minis and PS1 games that PS+ had. Then, my 3 month subscription rolls over, and lo every single one of them expires.. and has to be redownloaded to activate it again (well, you can cancel out and still get the updated license, but you still have to wade through the store to each individual title). Geez Sony, get that fixed. Not much chance I guess, going from forum posts it seems to have been a problem since the start of Plus.

Incidentally, it works just as you would expect on the PS3, it just updates games when you try to start them.

Buying the download version when they already own the physical. No problem, especially.
Right. I've had Uncharted since launch day, completed it, and then played through large parts of it several times. Why would I buy it again?!

Because I can. And, well, I'm part of the problem. ;)

See, JVM puts it so eloquently.

Ah, so just normal double-dipping. Heh, thought you guys were talking about getting two download versions somehow -- one through the EU Store, one through US, whatever.

That does make me think that maybe I should download games if I really love them, just so I don't have to put the disc in should I want to play it again.

Only if it's free though. Buying anything twice is cra-cra.

I would buy ten copies of Journey if it came out on disc.

Has anyone noticed that some of the free games doesn't expire even if your sub runs out? If you press triangle on your XMB highlighting your game, it will normally show how many days left you have for the game. These June games however, do not show this:

Sideway
Hard Corps: Uprising
Choplifter HD
Zombie Apocalypse

From May, all three games do not have the expiring info:

Trine 2
Awesomenauts
Rock of Ages

I noticed this when Swords and Soldiers (from January I think) didn't expire when my sub ended in late March (I renewed late May).

The expiry dates aren't listed because those were all demo+unlock key. If you go to the SEN website and log in and check your downloads you'll see that they all expire on the date your PS+ subscription expires.

http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/ca-en/home

Sign in then click "Media" and find all of those games in your list and you'll see the expiry dates.

It's not that complicated, he just didn't explain it too well :P

1 game (The "Game of The Month") changes every month
3 games stay for the whole year
The other 6 (8 if you're in US) change every 12 weeks (16 if you're in US) in pairs.

So 2 change one month, then the next 2 change, then the next 2.

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/06/05/heads-up-playstation-plus-update-6th-june-2012/

More games will be added in between, but that's the basic rotation.
Much better explanation, thank you. Been thinking about jumping into this. So it changes monthly? I have until June 30 to ensure I'm getting these games listed now? Mainly interested in I2 right now, rest is gravy.

Yes, there will be one new game at the start of every month, two games changed in the middle of every month (starting in July), and then there are also three games that are going to be available for a full year and only changed at the anniversary next June. In EU Infamous 2 is one of the games that will be available for a year. Not sure if they have said what the schedule is in NA.

The schedule does appear complicated at first but once we get into July there will be new content rolling in every two or three weeks at most and it should become a bit clearer. Actually I think it's quite well designed.

So I just got a year sub to plus tonight, all the free games hooked me in. Anyway if I want a game but don't have the space, can I just start download and cancel it and that should let me get it later if they take it down correct?

You don't even need to do that. Just add it to cart and check out. Done. Don't even need to start the download and it's yours

That's probably cause they are using unlock keys. I didn't research to see if they do but that's probably why.

Can't wait to see what they put up next. I've already put dozens off hours into Infamous2 and going to Platinum it (would be my first).
I thought that games like Heavenly Sword and Lair would be easy for Sony to put up but they had no trophies did they ? (did they get patched?)

You can buy PS+ with funds in your wallet right ? Does auto renew also work with payments from the wallet instead of cc ?

For some reason, i can't use my credit card on my local psn store, maybe because it's from another country.

Sorry, meant to answer this earlier.

Yes, you can pay from your PSN wallet, and autorenew should withdraw from your wallet if it has a high enough balance and you have auto-renew set to ON.

Man...I forgot all about PS3s sorry ass install system. My catalog of games won't be completely in my system and installed until probably next week. Thread title should be PS+: Link to Cheap 500gb HDD inside.....

So I bought Plus about a month ago.

If I want to always make sure I get everything for that month, be it avatars, games, discounts, etc., I should essentially check it once a month?

Once a week with the weekly Store update. For instance the current Vita discounts on the EU store are one week-only.

yup... there isn't a ton of stuff that isn't until the end of the month, but a lot of the discounts are for a week or two only and tend to come on week 2 or 3 of the month.

Also while rare every once in a while there are free games that are only there for a week. For example the NA store got Farcry 2 for free during Valentines day week and only that week.
Personally I just got in the habit of checking the ps plus section every week. it only takes about 5-10 min (between booting up, signing in and checking through everything) and it also makes it so you won't miss out anything/ forget to check one of the months.

I think I'm done with Darksiders. If they wanted to copy God of War, why couldn't they implement some its better features, like changing the difficulty mid-game? I sure as hell won't be starting the game again from the beginning. I really hate these battles, where the area is closed, and there's no replenishment of health in sight. Not to mention, that the battle system is far more fluid in GoW. Oh well, at least I didn't buy the game.

It's copying Zelda a lot more than GoW. If you're not into Zelda don't bother.

I can tell from the way that you're comparing it to God of War that you probably haven't progressed very far. I could be wrong of course, but regardless, you should at least play until you reach the first "dungeon", then you'll realize it has a lot more in common with Zelda.

The game leaves a bland first impression, I suggest that you stick with it.

Never played Zelda, but Darksiders reminds me of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver as well. LoK:SR was just a lot better.

I'm currently in
Tiamat's
stronghold, and stuck in the second fight against
an armored demon, who's this time accompanied by three smaller ones
. I'd continue the game, if I only could get past the fight. There was health replenishment in the last fight, but not in this one.

EDIT: Ok, got through it, as I remembered I had some souls, which I used to buy extra energy. Moving on...

Seeing how the sly cooper series is regarded for its great platforming and is currently on sale...which of the 3 is the best? Also is payday worth the $10 if I'm going solo? Trying t o grab some good sales before they disappear tomorrow.

Probably a toss up between 2 and 3. But I think 3 takes it.

The ship section is really damn fun.

Fuck me! I just realized after months you can just add the Plus games to the cart and check out rather than clicking each then stopping the download. Figured that was the only way to get them in the purchase history.

I knew that already but I never think about doing that.
Will try next time, because purchasing each item separately is time consuming.

2 is by far the best, followed by 1, then 3. That's not to say 3 isn't a good game though.

I've been a plus member since the twitter hype a couple weeks ago, and so far ive gotten my money's worth from infamous, just cause, and hard corps. Really enjoying the freebies, and the discounts are nice too. quick question though, how often does Sony cycle through new offers? Is it a regular interval?

Edit: should have read the OP again, which stated that these deals usually have a one month cycle or so, free games at least. Are discounts the same?

Same questions get asked frequently now. Maybe JVM can update/sort the OP a little bit better (with which games are now up for which region e.g.).

Apparently, Wipeout HD is free for US PS+ members right now.

E: Possibly not? Some saying it is, some saying it isn't.
