Monaco's the moneymaking jewel in the crown of F1, that stays along with the might of Monza. Everything else? Expendable.

Glad Monaco is staying for the right reasons!

I have to say, if Valencia can turn up and have a good race (and there was good racing to be had even if Vettel hadn't dropped out) then any circuit should be able to.

So what's been your favourite race thus far F1 GAF?

From my personal perspective:

Canada - Because it was a wild ride from beginning to end!

Honourable Mention to Malaysia but only because I had just arrived in Japan after an almost 20h journey and followed the race exclusively on GAF while on the train. GAF > any Live Ticker!

Finally a decent race in Valencia. Good result for webs and MSC. I used to dislike Alonso, but man is it hard to hate on him with the results he can pull with that car. Hopefully webs and alonso can team up at ferrari in the future. Also good to see webs 2nd in the championship. He's got a good chance at Silverstone.

From my personal perspective? Melbourne. Because I was there.

Have to say, for pure excitement it would be hard to go past this weekend. Really did have everything.

Edit: Holy shit, I never realised just how well Webber's helmet design matched the RB8 (and other Red Bulls in general):

And to the right, tell me that's not a sexy looking livery. Old-school all the way, great green colour they've used and the old-fashioned numbering looks awesome, too.

They have put the number 21 on there at just a jaunty enough angle to piss off the OCD crowd.

Given 2 championships already under each of their belts, I'd rather Alonso or Vettel didn't win the championship this year.

Also am I one of the odd few who actually likes Silverstone?

Yeah, same. There really is nothing not to like about Caterham at the moment. Drivers are doing their best and never getting in anyones way, improving with each race, awesome livery colours (swoooon) and just seem to exemplify the best things about Formula 1 teams. When shit like that happens, it gets me aggro, too.

Caterham will get - and deserve - points this season, I'm pretty sure of it. Heck, I could see them being competitive with Toro Rosso, too, given how the latter team's been doing lately.

Definetly. They were closer than ever in Valencia and I'm sure they can get there.

I think Britain and Germany should stay too.

When there are complaints about the calendar getting too large, having two GP in one country just seems insane.

I can only think they had a 'European' GP with one eye on getting rid of more European countries, and perhaps moving it around a bit. But that hasn't happened so they should dump the Euro GP.

while I'm here, Hamilton is an idiot. Yes, it was probably Pasta's fault for crashing into him, but (1) his tyres were shot so he'd be overtaken in the next couple of corners anyway, (2) with Vettel out he should have taken the points, and (3) its a driver with previous history in driving not quite politely, so be careful

Those arguments hinge on expecting him to be dangerous. I'd argue that that's not a factor drivers should ever be expected to take into account. Pastor isn't entitled to that place simply by virtue of being threatening, nor should he be.

Well Spa and Suzuka are really important from an "history" point ov view. And on top of that are both great track to drive and race on too, much better then the new tracks.

Toro Rosso has been nothing short of shite this year, really expected more from them.

Shamelessly stolen from reddit, but here's a picture that sums up the top 3 qualifying drivers' feelings after the race:

I reckon Maldonado is thinking "heheheh... pull my finger.... I just did! heheheheh"

Doesn't change the fact that those venues are shite and should be dropped from the calendar.

Over half of the calendar consists of tracks worse than Hockenheim.

Viewing figures for the European Grand Prix at Valencia show Sky with an average of 0.5m watching the coverage between 11.30am and 4.15pm. The BBC had an average of 3.8m with a peak of 5.0m watching the coverage between 12.10am and 3.15pm.

Last year the BBC had an average of 3.9m with a peak of 5.0m for the European Grand Prix so BBC's viewers were almost identical to this year.

wow

A Valencia race that was actually awesome. I thought I would never see the day. Kimi drove a great race. Maldonado is a reckless fool.

Much as I hate to say anything positive about Sky, it's important to bear in mind that Sky's average is spaced over a much longer period than the BBC's, taking into account support races, too. It'd be better to get the 15- or 5- minute breakdown over the actual duration of the *race*.

...not that I think it'd add too much, and I think it'd improve BBC's ratings in a similar way to Sky's, but it'd be a much more accurate comparison.

f1 revs even sometimes takes that into account, using only the live race figures, not build up, there is no way of making sky look good tho

Not completely on topic, but this is probably the best place to ask since I know most of you watch the race on the BBC live stream. Do you have the new live restart feature? It doesn't work for me.
