Valve Announces Pyromania (TF2), coming Wednesday June 27!

Oh MAN, the new rocket launcher is terrible. The tri-fire is just a faster firing rate, and you have no clip.

Like maybe it would be decent in a situational way if it fired all three at once, but MANNNNNNN.

How does one get a Pile of Ash?

Also they don't require keys yes?

If you've been playing recently, you've been picking up pocket lint, goldfish and barn planks. 4 of these items now make one pile of ash, which makes a scorched crate, which you need a scorched key to open

New sniper rifle is very good

There's a chance you can just get a new item from the pile, no crate.

Got the new Scout shotgun, the Lollipop, and three crates. Decided to uncrate them.

Got the new Pyro backpack, and a parrot for the Demoman (misc item).

Also got my own Balloonicorn. I'm happy.

Oh, I need to use a special key for those special crates =/

Hmm weird, I have played the game but no goggles yet.

EDIT: Oh wait, no more item notifications? I found them but no notification.

All Flamethrowers
Increased base damage by +10%.
Backburner
Removed +10% damage bonus attribute
Note: Because of base damage increase, damage remains unchanged

Does this mean the backburner and flamethrower now do the same amount of damage? If so, is the only appeal of the flamethrower the cheaper air blast?

like when you're trying to blast quickly a level 3 sentry without taking damage from reloading?

What do the Pyrovision goggles look like when worn by Pyro itself? Does it just change the look of the lens of its gas mask like the Deus Specs? Or does it put goggles on top of the gas mask (which would be weird)?

(I briefly logged into the game this morning before work to collect a vintage version of the goggles in case I forgot to do it before the end of the event.)

Out of my ash I got 2 scorched crates and a Rainblower then out of the two crates I got a Strange Rainblower and the Baloonicorn :D

EDIT: Oh lol. When in Pyrovision you don't dominate someone, you become best friends with the person. And when you kill with the Balloonicorn equipped he counts as assisting you XD

How do you get Balloonicorns? Do they only unbox or can you get one from a random world drop? Must...get...

Btw I saw a small screenshot of the Pyro from the MtP promo images and I thought the things replacing the napalm grenades were paper cups of coffee with a cardboard insulator. Didn't realize until this morning that they were little drums.

Edit: God I wish I hadn't read this excerpt from DToid:
To celebrate the release of "Meet the Pyro," ThinkGeek is selling a three-foot tall Balloonicorn straight from your dreams and into your bedroom. It's pink, it's ballooney, and it will make anyone question how you spend your alone time, you sick, sick freak.
Why do they have to go and sully my pure, wholesome, homicidal thoughts with that kind of mental imagery...

And when you end the domination, you "break up" with them.

I found a Barely Melted Capacitor after the update, but it doesn't seem to be craftable into Pile of Ash.

Any ideas yet what it's for? Is it worth anything?

Loving the update craziness but I am really disappointed with DOOMSDAY. The distance between the australium and the rocket is so small, and there is but a single choke-point between the two.

Every game I have played so far in this mode has ended with the attacking team winning, and fairly quickly at that.

Does the australium reset like intelligence does after it has been dropped for a certain amount of time? I never saw this happen, mostly because it was so easy to get the australium to the rocket.

I'm willing to give it more tries though. Maybe it's just the fact that people don't understand how to play defense in this mode yet.

Yep, it resets back to the initial starting zone and becomes neutral again. And yeah, it's mostly because people don't understand how to play defense. The cap time is just short enough that a decent defending team can get it to neutralize without having to build five level 3's and six sticky traps. Rounds often went back and forth on the couple of servers I played last night, especially on the GAF.

I had the opposite experience with Doomsday. The matches were very back and forth, it was pretty open and fun. Really enjoy the mode.

I got caught up in the hype and bought two scorched keys to unlock my two scorched crates and I got two Lollichops. Useless axes that give no benefits other than looking like lollipops when wearing the pyro goggles. I don't mind cosmetic items but why would I choose to use a lollichop over an axetinguisher. Give me a hat instead.

There are too many bad people currently playing to give an accurate assessment of the new map but so far I'm having fun with it.

I'll buy a lollichop off you. How's a refined sound?

I did the same and got two parrots for the demo. :/

Guess I'm part of the problem.

The Source Filmmaker (SFM) is the movie-making tool built and used by us here at Valve to make movies inside the Source game engine. Because the SFM uses the same assets as the game, anything that exists in the game can be used in the movie, and vice versa. By utilizing the hardware rendering power of a modern gaming PC, the SFM allows storytellers to work in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get environment so they can iterate in the context of what it will feel like for the final audience.
