Modern Cosmic Marvel is the best Marvel...it's not even close.

I'd add Journey Into Mystery in with the best of modern Marvel too. Flawless.

But yeah, the Cosmic line was so good for so long.

I love Star-Lord's design and was bummed he didn't get to be in UMvC3 so it would be cool to see him on the big screen. Great comics though and I'm glad I picked them up solely based on the cover.

...really? They don't have enough potential AAA Marvel properties to play off of?

Well, I guess since so many of their franchises are in other studios' hands...

It's only natural for Marvel to want to capitalise on their strongest modern material. Going to the stuff that was good in the 60s only goes so far.

If they adhere to the modern DnA telling, this is AAA. Believe that.

It bleeds character.

But I do know what you're saying.

Well at least UMvC3's Marvel newcomers continue to be good for predicting stuff. Ghost Rider and Hawkeye have both been in movies, and that leaves Dr. Strange, Nova, Iron Fist, and Rocket Raccoon. If this Guardians of the Galaxy thing is true, that would take care of Nova and Rocket Raccoon. Not to mention all the rumors circulating about Dr. Strange appearing in the MCU soon and the possibility of Iron Fist being in a Heroes for Hire movie.

Well, as I've said before: I'm not familiar with what's happening in the last decade of comics, so if they've suddenly become A-tier I didn't know.

Also, I suppose they want all the films to be coherant with a larger picture story and suddenly doing a Dr. Strange movie that doesn't push the Thanos story ahead would be counter-productive.

You'd love them if you read the first Annihilation trade. It's that damn good. Like orders of magnitude better than most books. Clever, has heart, and amazing action.

er, people who think Thanos is a strong hint at GoG need to read more '90s Marvel comics ;p

Yeah, pretty much everybody in the Marvel Universe danced with Thanos through the 80s and 90s.

The Fantastic Four have had their share of run-ins with him. Could be?

This is going to be a crazy ass movie if it turns out anything like the comics. I really don't know how they'll pull it off but I can't wait to see them try.

Sounds interesting. I have to give Marvel props for the continued ambition they are showing.

It feels as though they have moved from establishing a superhero franchise across numerous films and characters to aggressively tying up every 'event movie genre' with a Marvel IP.

Personally I think this seems a little too risky given that even most Marvel fans won't be familiar with these characters in what is sure to be the most expensive Marvel film yet.

But, as with all things of this nature, we shall see.

”THE SCRIPT IS INCREDIBLE”

Given Marvel's previous output I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt this.

I'm nervous about this. It could be epic, or it could be Marvel's first big misstep.

Feige knows what he's doing, so I guess I have to trust him.

I love all of recent cosmic marvel. I hope GotG becomes a movie trilogy too. I just hope that somehow Nova gets his own movie/the original Annihilation story gets adapted. It deserves to be a sci-fi epic on the big screen. It wouldn't really fit GotG though since the Guardians aren't introduced until the arc after that, Conquest.

Probably avengers awesome, and not the godfather awesome.

Thanos has been explicitly linked with Nova and the Guardian of the galaxies for years. His last major storyline was Thanos Imperative with Nova and the GoG

Marvel is not basing their movie stories on issues from the 80's

Uh no. Thanos has fought more than the GoG.

It's far from obvious.

It's not obvious if you completely skipped marvel cosmic for the past decade.

Nova/Raccoon are locks- Marvel didn't push them into MvC3 for no reason.

Heroes for Hire isn't going to happen because of the Alias adaptation- the characters from that are likely off-limits to films right now.

film rights and television rights are different.

I really want to see how they pull off making people see a movie with Rocket Raccoon.

is it really that difficult to imagine? it's a sci-fi movie. We do talking animals in movies all the time.

I've never even heard of this Guardian stuff before. Does it really have a talking raccoon? LOL

Rocket Raccoon is a fucking badass. Seriously.

FUCK YEASSSSSSSS NOVAAAAAAAAA

...where's my Iron Fist at though.

I'd much rather see Ed Brubaker Iron Fist than Heroes for Hire, personally, but that's just me.

He isn't even the craziest member. There is a living tree and a Walrus as well (I highly doubt he will be in it). Star lord and RR are staples Groot would be nice but it would probably be cheaper to add some more human characters.

Are any GoG part of the Avengers? Same applies to Nova I suppose but he is separate from GoG as far I know.

I missed the Marvel Press release when they said they were sticking with only the last few years of their history.

So exactly. Not obvious at all. Just as we said.

I'd say it doesn't matter and that Marvel Productions has earned the general public's trust.

Avengers showed that they can go all out superhero craziness and the public will eat it up if it's done well.

Tie this to the Avengers properly, and it's a done deal.

Avengers was successful because of Robert Downey Jr. / Iron Man, and also partially because of Chris Evans / Captain America.

Personally I never heard of those Guardians of the Galaxy guys. Sounds like Green Lantern, which I had at least often heard about.

I'm guessing it will be a 3D cartoon movie, aimed at a younger audience. Talking joke-cracking raccoon and all.

The original Guardians are honorary Avengers. And some Guardians have history with them.

As long as they make it clear in marketing that this leads into Avengers 2, it'll do fine.

I want some Dick Rider and Rocket Raccoon.

bringing cosmic marvel into the loop would be an excellent decision if they want to show the scope of their universe.

hopefully we dont get any reality breakers like mad jim jaspers or the other braddock whos name i cant remember. dont need any of that.

If Nova's in it, wouldn't it be Sam Alexander instead?

god, i fucking hope not. one is fucking enough.
