what is the secret to not getting permanently banned from NeoGAF.com?

1.Elevate yourself to a joke character like Wario64 (which if recent times are to show, doesn't always work)
2.Just post smart or infrequently, like I do.

There are some threads you shouldn't post in if you're not gay. Because you're automatically wrong and you hurt people's feelings.
 
Don't post fun joke threads. Especially on gaming side about console rumors. Even if the real rumors are just as outlandish. Unless you have ban immunity. Or disguise your rumor as being from kotaku. I though I had ban immunity. I was WRONG.
 
I don't really think banning in general is as common an event that you'd have to actively watch how you post, anyway.

Just use some sense whenever you do, and say, "Does this sound wrong?". Especially when you're coming from an unqualified position (which I sometimes do, but I am open to correction), or are about to insult someone for no good reason.
 
I just stay away from sales age threads, avoid politics, religious threads, gender threads, threads about sexuality, race threads. (edit: i forgot the obvious one. Stay away from console wars)

Here is a tip for people and lurkers. Don't use the 4 letter c word, it will get you banned. I found out the hard way.

I know its hard to believe but there are heterosexuals who can coexist well with homosexuals. You can post in those threads if you aren't insensitive.

There is no such thing as ban immunity. One guy (I forget how to spell his name, forgive me for being awful at GAF history) had the tag "This is why I will never be banned" and now he is perma'd.

It could always be that there's a few posters who post a lot, and if they get banned, suddenly it looks like the thread is a graveyard.

Or not *shrug*.

I dunno, it seems unlikely that (looks at front page) out of almost 80,000 posters, a significant majority get banned at any given time period (unless it were some unusual event). I'd have to have some more statistics to make a more certain decision, since I don't have that kind of information (bans/month).

In any case, if someone just gives posts some thought, even the jokey ones, they should be able to avoid bans easily.

Just being a garden variety idiot will get you weeks or four of bans, but not a perm.
 
Just picture it like you're conversing in a group of people. You can talk and joke and argue and shit but don't insult anybody and don't do anything stupid, like whip your cock out in front of everyone. Then you get banned and you're friends don't return your calls anymore.
