Are you getting hyped for the anime this Fall by BONES? From the director and character designer of SWORD OF THE STRANGER, and the composer of the original FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST. Are you excited yet?

Oh man, I'm not falling for AnimeGAF hype again!

fuck it, I'll do it

By the writer of Aquarion Evol, Black Rock Shooter and Fujiko!

You should be prepping for a bunch of new battle manga trying to get a spot in Jump, because the editors will be fishing for Naruto/Bleach/Reborn replacements soon.

Neuro ended up pretty battle manga-ish towards its end.

Bleach isn't ending soon...the final arc is as long as the Espada arc, it'll be years before it ends. Naruto may have a couple or so years.

Toriko was like the 5th best selling manga in 2011, how much bigger were they expecting it to be?

That was the year it got the anime so it got a huge boost from people buying the older volumes.

Toriko level of sales is similar to Bakuman/Gintama, but not comparable to the big 3 + HxH. So if they were hoping for it to replace one of the big 3, it failed at achieving that. But who knows, maybe at some point in the future it will explode in popularity.

XO Sisters 1-11

MC is such a boss.

For about 20 pages anyway.

Not a bad read, but the spiritual extermination squad premise has been done better elsewhere and all the female characters without bear hats suck.

Bleach is still considered a member of the "big 3"? Or are you just talking "historically"?

Based on the last 3 years of WSJ, Assassination Classroom has about 50% chance of making through to the next year. Will it beat the odds?

In general, it's still considered part of the big 3.

I just want to point out that, while I don't necessarily dislike Nisekoi, I can't help but feel... Rattled when I'm reminded that this manga is doing well, and Double Arts got the axe.

I like you. Let's be fwenz.

XO Sisters art is kinda nice. That's about it though.

This was a nice romance manga. Great mix between comedy and romance and great characters interactions. I really loved seeing Murata think of all these cheesy cliched scenarios like Kino asking her to be his model, or giving her a ride and so on. Added a nice touch and the made the story more believable. It didn't have the most satisfying ending as Kino and Murata didn't do anything too special with their relationship, but I didn't hate it. I just wish we could have gotten another volume to focus more on their relationship now that they started dating and how they will cope with each other given the age difference.

I have never read anything by the author of this manga, Est Em, but she seems to have done a lot of work. Most of her manga aren't translated and the ones that are translated are mostly yaoi. I will probably still read them (join me DTL) since I want to see how she tackles that particular genre. I also want to see Golondrina getting translated just based on the cover

Zetsuen Tempest 5-16

Really good. I was expecting this to have more battles.

Never expected the last arc to be
a tense negotiation involving time travel, which was pretty great using the Deus Ex Machina of this series with solid arguments. It reminded me a lot of Ace Attorney court battles for some reason.

Shit, that's bad news. Considering who is directing the anime, I'm hoping there's a ton of action all the time, every time. Maybe they'll decide to just take the manga characters and put them in kickass fights every week with an original anime only story.

That
negotiation started chapter 7 and ended in 16. There is awesome action during the negotiation but it doesnt involve the main characters and is little imo.

Boo, why doom them to an original anime story. If anything I would probably expect them to quickly get the debate out of the way instead of normally adapting it.

Watch the debate takes up 4 episodes.

Dang, so the new Hayate no Gotoku anime technically isn't a third season after all.
Kenjirou Hata, the creator of the Hayate the Combat Butler (Hayate no Gotoku!) manga, confirmed on Wednesday that the upcoming new television anime is not the third season of the previous anime. He emphasized, just like Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine is doing this week, that it is a "new Hayate the Combat Butler."

Although he acknowledged that he cannot say much about the new anime yet, Hata did say that the new anime is being produced with feedback received from working on the Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven Is a Place on Earth film. He added that he is not just "the original creator" of the new anime, but he is also involved as one of the staff members.
Still, if Hata's in charge of it, I'll trust whatever he comes up with.

Would it still be considered a reboot if it's just completely original material?
Actually, in calling it a "new Hayate", I wonder if they'd make any minor changes to the core mythology of the series. That might be something interesting to see.

e: ^ Hopefully not of those kinds, though.

Lolol.

Well, does anyone know what the recent movie was like? Since it's the same studio, and they're taking feedback based on that, I would imagine there will be similarities...

Are you suggesting that making Izumi male and combining Hinata and Nishizawa into a single character were bad ideas!?

Ashirogi Muto keeps getting some good assistants, first Orihara (who always makes the best comments and keeps me laughing), and now Shun and his little storyline thats started, which is good, enjoy his dedication to drawing and wanting to actually do manga. I wish we had a bit more time with Saiko though, often his plot's seem a bit stronger than Shujin's.

I thought it was odd that they werent told about the anime offers for pcp and Hattori leading them astray on pcp not being something worth animating, the final chapter of the arc was stunning with Akechi and the page with all of PCP standing behind him, hope this gets animated in the third season. Solid chapter and developments.

Oh and awesome quote: "When you give up, that's when the game is over"

Hmmmmmmmm....

According to the article line-up for Otona Animedia Vol5 (comes out this Friday), the Magi anime article consists of an interview with the mangaka, as well as a review of all the manga volumes out so far. It doesn't sound like it has much news on the actual anime, but maybe the interview could shed some light on what plans the author has for the direction of the manga in the near future. Hopefully someone in Japan buys the mag and posts some info from it...
