Did you go to UH? When I went there to visit my family I seriously considered dropping out of college in Florida and transferring there. My god that place is beautiful.
I'm glad you know what I'm talking about with the waves though. You can tell people "Yeah, the waves were 40 feet tall!" And they take it as exaggeration, and I can't blame them. Literally like nothing I have seen before, a huge rolling wall of water crashing against the sand.

any questions, you know where to gonah, Brigham Young U-Hawaii. i'm contemplating moving there with nothing but a surfboard and finding a shack on the beach for $300/month. you can hitchhike anywhere, there are hourly jobs everywhere, beautiful tourist women (and polynesian women), and it literally is paradise.
the scariest thing about those waves is getting caught in them. there were a couple times we were body surfing at this place called Pounders Beach. 10-20 foot shore break on a good day. if you don't barrel and just ride it over the top, you get fucked over onto sand which has all of a sudden become pretty solid. i've got my share of bruises, luckily nothing more serious, especially considering i'm just a stupid haole from kansas lmao. and don't even get me started on Pipeline. there are sharp rocks under those waves -____-
damn i could talk about Hawaii and what i did there all fricking day. seriously best place ever.

I'm a weakling though so I don't post too often haha.I've thought the same, no joke. Fly back over, grab a board, try to pitch my homebrew to a few local bars, live in a shit house, and just enjoy life. I was at Waimea bay once and we were jumping off of this big rock into the water, it was probably a 15 or 20 foot drop. Tried to dive in head first like a cocky shit and had to much forward momentum, wound up horizontal in the air, and smacked my neck and head flat against the water. As soon as I hit, I was disoriented and more or less paralyzed from the impact, and a massive wave came and swept me under the water in the undertow. I spun in every direction for a good twenty or thirty seconds before the torrent luckily spit me up on shore.
Damn, it was exhilarating, but looking back on it I'm glad I lived through that shit haha. If I ever get a place out there, E komo mai bruddah

i have done that exact same thing, oh, idk, like 50 times. we went to waimea every weekend for like the first 2 months of the semester. there are a lot of turtles there too, and you can go under the rock. one of my friends poked himself on a sea urchin and had to pee on it under water lolol.
oh btw, waimea is where the Eddy is, it's a big wave surf comp. pretty sick.
if you wanna do something stupid though, try jumping off Laie Point. i'm pretty sure it's not as deep as waimea bay, and if you don't time it right (jump when there is a swell coming through) you're fucked. i think i broke my ring and pinky toe on a rock there. they hurt for weeks :(
oh and then try longboarding down the massive hill that ends in the only intersection in Laie and hope there are no cars coming. fuckin great. especially when you haven't ever ridden a board before T_T
still, the best 2 semesters of my life, i'm actually thinking about going back to school if they'll have me. not sure why they let a white guy get accepted in the first place, and it'll be another miracle if i get in with my gpa from there, lol. but im gonna try. it's worth the $30 to apply
