What's your dream job?

As corny as this sounds, I really want to be an executive here:

Hopefully this dream will come true (I'm only 17).

Now GAF, what's your dream job and who's your dream employer?

I would love to work for Nintendo myself. I'm a graphic and web designer so it'd have to be something in that field.

Otherwise, I've been working on launching my own magazine for the last year+. It's a ton of work and I've thus far done it all by myself. Everytime I think I'm ready to start looking for funding some new obstacle arises for better or worse. But I've enjoyed it all still anyway and learned a ton. So doing that is my new dream job.

An Engineer, doesn't matter what kind I just to build and create stuff.

I would like to find a way of making money from knowing totally unimportant bullshit (like, the DJ in DJ Conner's name stands for David Jacob, etc), or for being able to remember tons of information, because it would be remarkably easy since it's second nature to me.

But I don't really have a dream job. Something low-stress that I can ride a bicycle to in a quiet town, mostly. Don't have any specific aspirations or desired positions.

Marketing for Wizards of the Coast, preferably in the Magic: The Gathering department, but any spot in the entire company would make every day working a pleasure.

Lighthouse keeper or something. Or something like Jack Torrance does in The Shining, babysitting a big empty building. Something with minimal work, lots of solitude, and lots of time for my hobbies. Fuck working.

Getting paid to do things I enjoy doing, like reading, listening to music, walking in the mountains, taking photos, playing video games etc.

Film writer/director. I have one particular film idea that I've toyed with in my head for more than a decade. I'd love to share it with the world; and it could be done on a relatively "small" budget. If I could get about $500K in funding, I think it I could realize my dream in a feature film.

But, alas, I have next to zero experience, work in an ENTIRELY unrelated field, and don't even have the means to try to start saving for it to do decades down the road. 'Tis life.

Creating a successful Video Game company focused only on making great games/getting a higher-up job at a successful VG company.

I'm still young though so I have no idea what the industry will be like in 10 years. My dream job may be impossible by then. :(

Film director or novel writer. Unless jobs like ''traveling and doing cool shit'' counts, in which case that.

As opposed to studios who only focus on making shitty games?

Would like to work as a financial analyst for a large tech company which would hopefully progress into management.

Would also love to be my own boss and create a tech/game company, but don't have the balls for that yet.

Game Designer. Which is probably why I frequent gaf so much.

But other things include owning my own small software company (could be an indie game studio or not)
Working at Pixar in animation.
Being on a localization team to bring Japanese games over to the States.

yeah i love games...

Something with typography, or publishing.

Or something that will make people smile, like planning parties or something?... I really have no idea what I want to do :( I just know where I want to be, and that is here. I guess I'll see if that works out! :P

This also! Lots of time for self-reflection. Might be too secluded, but for a while it'd be amazing O_o

A job that makes me feel like my life is not being sucked out of me through busy post college schedules. I thought after college, work would be great as I was damn busy with college and part time jobs. Now it seems that time goes fast and going to work is just not fun, I'm on call all the time.

I think making close to nothing, working at a grocery store, would be much better. Clock in clock out enjoy life.

I want to work at Valve, I mean this is seriously my dream, has been since around 1999/2000. I am ok at 3d sculpting/modelling, but nowhere near good enough to work there. I'm turning 30 soon, so I worry I am out of time :(

I'd like to work in intelligence. My current field is related but I have no experience in intelligence/am not willing to join the military so its an uphill battle

Build / design a motorcycle.

Race motorcycles.

Build / design a sports car.

Race cars.

Design a video game.

Work at Giantbomb like website with a fun crew.

Be a writer.

Be a musician.

Work with Carmack, restore Id to greatness.

Build a spaceship with Carmack.

Become an interstellar astronaut.

Talk video games on the way.

Maybe play some.

Plenty of things. I'd like to be a professional musician, a speech pathologist, some sort of linguist, a video game designer, an astronaut, an architect, an intelligence officer, or one of those people who travel around the world to present interesting television programs. I'm sure that there's more I can think of, there's many things that I'd love to try.
