Yes, seems quite a beast. Heavy, if that is your type of thing. I'm going to play on it next week. It is all plastic exterior...I always thought it was metal from the pics (and similar looks to VSHG and Omni, I guess). At the discounted price-point it is a great stick.

Though, putting it up to the new Fightstick from Madcatz I'd go with a VS.

Agreed. Picked one up at EVO. Great stick for the discounted price. Can't wait to get this SxT art out of here.

;-)

Have not played the game yet but seems like everybody is negative on it. I just ordered it for $33 on amazon. This beast is going to be my SFXT stick.

I'm using my eightarc sapphire to play my new 360 shooters. Stick is really, really nice. I do get confused with the multiple button markings, though.

Still have not ordered one of those EVO sticks. Probably gonna regret it, but some nice Horis come out at the end of the month and gotta save some money for those.

How does the SFxT Pro stick stack up against the SSF4 TE S stick?

I have the latter, but am thinking of dropping money on an additional stick so when my GF plays fighting games with me I don't have to use a pad (she hogs the stick).

EDIT : Also does the Pro stick have the fixed PC support.

Opened my Sigma stick to see what it looks like inside. Soldered, but not quite, in the sense that they are not soldered directly to the PCB. But it is so clean and simple!

This was one of the early reviews on the Hori Fighting Edge joystick.
ShinJN is a long-time SRK member...

Anyhow, according to the review, he took the FE joystick apart and his recommendation is to use the Seimitsu RE or MS Mounting plates with the Fighting Edge... Doesn't sound like the SS Mounting Plate will work in his review. RE and MS are the only options for Seimitsu that will work.

The LS-32-01 or LS-40-01 MIGHT be a little short but it doesn't look like it would be as drastically short as it is with the non-universal HRAP's. (I've used shaft extenders with those style HRAP's and HATED them... Went ahead and modded my already damaged AH2 faceplate to install RE-equipped LS-40-01 in that joystick. May install an LS-56-01 or LS-58-01 in my remaining HRAP 3/White Japan.)

(I have no idea WHY Hori changed the mounting are on the FE joystick but they used the HRAP V3-style mount on the new Soul Calibur V-style Noir joystick. The new-style Hori-type joystick must have some significant difference from the JLF in measurements {shaft height?} to justify the change in joystick mount unless Hori is just being Hori and different for the sake of being different! I really don't know...)

So, use the RE Mounting plate with the LS-32/40 series and the MS Mounting Plate with all the other Seimitsu joysticks. Remember that the MS Mounting Plate for the LS-58 is NOT the same Mounting Plate used for the LS-33/-55/-56 series! (LS-33's and -55's come with the MS Mounting Plate in stock configuration. The LS-56/-01 is the Seimitsu you have to buy the MS Mounting Plate for... Can't avoid this anymore than having to replace the RE Mounting Plate of the LS-40 series with the SS Mounting Plate for Universal Joystick mounts unless you're modding a non-universal mount faceplate {T5, Arcana Heart series joysticks, etc.}.)

Fortunately, in the US, all the LS-58's sold by Focus Attack and VideoGamesNewYork are equipped with the MS Mounting Plate.
IF you buy an LS-56, you'll have to buy their MS Mounting Plate to swap out with the stock VF mounting plate that series comes equipped with.

Anyone in here get the Hori Fighting Edge fight stick?

Would like to get feedback from it.

Also what do you guys think of the EightArc sticks?

Whew,

Kinda complex. But, this:

seimitsu-RE-mountingplate.jpg

And I'm good to go after removing the plate it comes with and installing the RE mount.

Yeah, that sounds good to me. I'd just double check to see if the screw holes in the Fighting Edge bracket line up with the RE plate. It might sit a little lower, but GeorgeC is right, it won't be as bad as the Deathsmiles stick.

Yeah, I'll buy the stuff. Check it out.

If it does not work then the new Hori Hayabusa joystick will go back in...it is actually pretty damn nice...very clicky like an LS-32. I'm gonna try it on some shooters today to see how it feels.

Oh ho, I like the sound of that. Say what you want about Hori's build quality, they've at least always been good about blending the Sanwa and Seimitsu feel instead of just straight copying one or the other.

I did. great stick. I posted some impressions a page or two back. would elaborate, but on my phone.

Last day in Vegas!

Trying to decide on a ps3/pc stick. My mcv2 te doesn't work on my pc and my se is just too small.

Opinions between these 3?

Hori SC5 stick
Madcatz SC5 stick
Madcatz sfxt fightstick pro

They're all about the same price, hori being a bit cheaper.

If the madcatz ones dont work the PC then don't bother. I asked about it, but didnt seem to get an answer. My biggest question is Do the Hori SCV sticks feel as hollow as HRAP3's? I'm liking my HRAP3 less and less these days because of the hollow feeling.

Hori's always have perfect PC support.

Ok MarkMan, after seeing that official EVO stick so often through out the weekend. I decided to try to buy it after all late Sunday. It said I still could, so I did(for PS3). So am I actually getting one after all or will I probably be refunded sometime in the future. I just have this feeling that you guys left it up through out the entire weekend without actually checking if you exceeded your limits or not.

no they were made heavier. the stick is fantastic.

I have a couple of TE's and they both work on my PC just fine. No mods either.

I got the Hori Soul Calibur V stick and haven't regretted it... Out of the new mass-market designs introduced this year, this is my favorite. Good to see Hori is doing another incarnation of it with the DOA 5 joystick... I just wish the new variant were for a game series I appreciate more!

Not to crap on the Mad Catz designs -- I LIKE the look of both the VS and FightStick Pro joysticks and intend to get 1 of each when I can afford it --, but I did prefer the look of the Hori SC V stick over the Mad Catz SC5 which is a slight redesign of the TE-S case. Never cared for the TE-S design much and frankly I've got enough R1/R2 TE joysticks in the collection...

The Hori and Mad Catz SC V joysticks are both on sale... (I favor the SC V for mods --- better color scheme, the neutral color case will match more themes. The Mad Catz joystick does have easier-to-remove artwork, though, but the whole thing really is set up for a "Soul Calibur look.") You can get either for $100 or less. Just look for the best deals -- some of the deals feature free shipping.

I haven't had problems getting the Hori to work with my particular PC (which is an AMD chipset) and so far the sticks work fine with Mac... Depending on your set-up, at worst you'll have to install third-party controller drivers/programs.

(*Ironically, it's a reverse-engineered PCB that works best on my PC. Toodles' MC Cthulu joystick works fine with both MAME and Vanguard Princess. No third party drivers/programs required!)

Hey arcade stick GAF!
I've had a standard Round 1 TE for a while now and I've been looking to mod it so that it can have the visual flair and awesomeness of my two Chie-based 360 sticks.

Just wondering if this design is far too busy or not.
Oh and I'm using the full panel extended TE template from Art's Hobbies to make the mod just in case anyone was wondering.

They work fine on PC, I have a madcatz MVC2 stick and it's great on PC as is my PS3 version of the MVC3 madcatz stick.

I think most of you are forgetting that Madcatz Ps3 TE's have problems on the PC. It works in theory, but you need a certain chipset for it to work. It works on PC fine, but that's if it works on your setup. It doesn't work on either of my computers. Drivers install, but the inputs are not recognized. People are either forced to dual mod it, or buy a usb card with the required chip set. I own an Intel chipset, and it doesn't work period. The Chun Li stick is the only one that's confirmed to have a new PCB that fixed the problem, and they are no longer in print which is why I asked about the SFXT stick.

See this post.

My mcv2 te doesn't work on my pc

I am simply telling him if the SFXT sticks do not have the new PCB/USB, then he will most likely run into the same issue hundreds of people including my self and him are having. It's not worth the gamble just to see if it works.

I wish Markman would shed some actually knowledge, but every time I ask him I never get a response.

Really brief, the newer sticks (while still designed for use with PS3 only) do have better compatibility than our older TE sticks for PC use.

Sorry, just got back from a long weekend.

So there's also a black EXAR stick coming out as well in late August...I know about the Blue one in early August. But not about the Black one. My Wallet is going to die. Guilty Gear Stick, Blue EXAR, and now the mysterious Black one.
http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/de...t?s_maker=Exer$pagemax=100$getcnt=0$pagecnt=1

Was suppose to get the Sanwa EXARPRIZE from my friend in Japan, but a mix up happen at the shop :( So I got the KOF stick instead :) Going to get as much EXAR sticks as possible. That layout and stick space :)

Very cool.

Never ordered from AmiAmi but I'll get one of those from them. Do have the Persona stick and Ginga Force preordered from them. Prices seem reasonable.

Man, I'm really debating putting in a pre-order for one of the EVO TE sticks. The only thing stopping me is my wife would likely kill me. She was pretty unimpressed when I bought my SFIV one; she was floored that I spent $150 on a controller. She muttered something about how many shoes that much money could have bought her... :)

At any rate, this question may have already been answered earlier in the thread, but I'm wondering something; is there a way to make an Xbox 360 TE Fightstick work on my PS3 too? Both systems have USB jacks and I know there's a ton of parts out there for modding these suckers. I'm just not particularly skilled with a soldering iron (don't even own one), so whether or not I'd do it would depend on what's involved.

My only concern about the FE Mount site is that it looks pretty shallow...

It really looks like you'd need a combination of 4M washers and 4M hexnuts to be able to secure a joystick... Most of the screws that are in the Japanese joysticks are at least 8-10mm long. That length may actually be TOO long for this mount site. Best to have washers around to deal with extra length!

I've used 4M hexnuts to cut down on length, too. Hexnuts are very good for cutting down on length and securing the mounting plate, too. Just be aware of the LS-32-01 PCB. It's wide and gets in the way of many installations. (I like the feel of the LS-32 but it's an inconvenient piece of hardware because of the dimensions and all the screws. The shaft length and lack of shaft cover are also inconvenient.) That thing is the biggest pain-in-the-butt to deal with on half the joysticks I've mounted it on. It's by far the largest Japanese PCB mounted in all the joysticks I've installed/removed and always requires disassembly before I can put into any joystick base!

Forget about redesigning the LS-56 into the LS-58. Seimitsu should have re-engineered the LS-32 so that you don't have to literally disassemble the stupid %@%@! every time you remove or mount one!

I think my best bet is to just buy a bunch of little parts and screws and stuff. I'm still in the states for a few more weeks and will go to Home Depot and try to buy some extra screws and nut that will thread. I'll also be sure to pick up some of the different mounts and joysticks to keep them on the shelf for further use.

Not keen on having an LS-32 ride low in it. Having one stick up too high on the Exaprize Sanwa was already weird.

I have a SF4 Madcatz TE stick.....is there anywhere that I can get some different Artwork for it?

Not sure if anyone else commented, but that does seem pretty dang busy. However, I do usually like really chill sticks myself and from what I can tell the style that you are aiming for is a bit busy, so that might be what you want :). I think the funky bit for me is that while I like how you tried to match the button gradient to the background gradient it still is a bit off. The BG gradient starts top left and proceeds to the bottom right over the whole area of the stick. Meanwhile the button gradient starts half way over and runs pretty much left to right over a much smaller area of the stick. The look is a bit odd to me with the two misaligned gradients and having the hot red and yellow buttons sitting in the middle of the cool green and blue background area.

So personally I would possibly either try to tweak the BG image a bit to line up with the buttons (i.e. have it run bottom left to side right, extend the red area out to the button start point, and have the gradient run red -> blue quickly over the same area of the buttons) or keep the image and have the buttons just match the colors of the BG image that they are currently over (just flow them green to blue to match the areas they are currently over). Just my two cents though, I'm no designer.

There are other gameshark store sites that you should be able to order the stick from.

I was able to from the canadian version of the site.

Neither ship to Australia :(

I might check out a mail forwarding service then. Feel like a need a fresh stick to go with TTT2 and P4A and that EVO stick is on another tier of crispiness

It depends on the specific model you own, but you probably want the TE Kitty from godlikecontrols.com. The hardest part of that install is stripping insulation off the USB wire. Read the SRK thread for more details.

BOTEC,

I took a closer look at how the PCE stick works on the 8 and 4 way. You press down, and rotate a quarter circle and there is an iris-like effect where a new gate locks in place. Simple, but effective. Also, lots of little touches on the stick, like felt strips in the min-maz toggles up top to keep out dust, hide the mechanics, and lots of little lights. Super packed, the stick.

OOhh, clever. Glad to see it's more complicated than I thought. I'm starting to be more interested in this stick the more I see.

It is hard to explain just how tiny this thing is. Like I'm holding a DSi XL, or something, in the sense that the insides of your hand cup the corners. I put about an hour of play on Daisenpuu and it is quick and snappy. I rotate the buttons with the fire below and the bomb just above. The ball-top is about half the size of a regular ball.

This is the review that sold it to me earlier this year:

I was gonna go ahead and jump on the EVO discount to buy my first stick from Madcatz, but then I ran right into the online store having no support for either PR shipping, nor billing. The former isn't a problem cause I was going to ship it to the states anyway, but the latter means I pretty much can't buy anything on the store. :/ Shot an email to the online support staff, but the discount runs out today and they haven't replied yet.

Kinda sucks, I've been meaning to jump into the world of Arcade Sticks, but don't have much of a disposable income. Shipping to PR is usually pretty expensive too.

The design is certainly still a work in progress Imma try out some of your suggestions and see how they look! ^__^

Gentlemen,

I'm currently looking for an arcade stick for my 360. But I also want the option to use it on my computer when Skullgirls comes out on PC. So it needs to be wired, as it's my understanding that wired 360 controllers will work on PC (can anyone confirm?). I really want to keep the price below $100. I'm not going to be taking this to tournaments; I just want to not derp my inputs when I'm playing Skullgirls with my bro. Also, I'd prefer a stick an octagonal range of movement rather than a square one.

Any recommendations?

Wired controllers will work on PC. As far as a good stick in your price range, I recommend the deal that MarkMan just linked. $100 for an FS Pro is a killer deal. You can go with one of the WWE BrawlSticks for a bit cheaper, but you'll have to replace the parts in them before too long and it'll cost just as much as a nicer stick anyway.

As far as an octagonal gate, most sticks just come with the square gate installed, but it's trivial to swap it out to an octagonal gate (and octos are very cheap as well...http://www.focusattack.com/sanwa-gt-y-octagonal-restrictor-gate/)

Does the FS PRO have a square or octagonal gate?

Found a Hori Tekken 6 stick at a local used game store for $50, which I can get down to $35 with store credit. Unfotunately the stick is wireless so I wouldn't be able to get it to work with the PC, bleh. '-_-

Do NOT buy the tekken 6 wireless stick. If you just want to test out a stick without much of an investment, the brawlstick at gamestop is probably the best deal. My only problem with it, aside from the knock off parts, was that it's a small stick compared to the TE's and Hori equivalents.

No matter what stick you get you will have to buy the octo gate separately.

All retail sticks have square gates.

It's actually the octagonal gate that restricts movement more than the square gate. I know it's a dead horse by now, but I still think people should just learn to not ride the gate all the time rather than rely on a crutch that actually limits your movement possibilities.

Unfortunately none of the gamestops near me have the cheap Brawlstick. It is available for $70 at Amazon so that's an option.

What's the opinion on fighpads? I'm wondering if I should pounce on the Mad Catz sale before it ends tonight. It might be a good stopgap until I get a stick.

Anyone in here get the Hori Fighting Edge fight stick?

Would like to get feedback from it.

Also what do you guys think of the EightArc sticks?

I got my Fighting Edge (360) last week. I love it.

Pros:
- stick is awesome, feels slightly more accurate/tighter than Sanwa to me
- buttons seem fine to me, and can easily replaced with Sanwas if wanted
- layout is perfection, love the extra space between stick and buttons
- looks AMAZING, LED's are a neat gimmick
Cons:
- touch panel sucks IMO, wish it was a physical Start button instead
- 360 version has gimped remapping, basically the feature doesn't exist on 360 version
- cable door comes off easily, but not a big deal

Is it worth $200? That's up to the individual, but I like mine. And OMG, it's gorgeous.
