Finally got my Dark Knight Rises tickets booked, thought I'd treat myself to Odeon Premier seats too! :D It's a pity there isn't a midnight showing anywhere outside the USA as I'd loved to have seen that but meh, I'll manage :D

Schedule conflict, I think the production went on longer than expected, forcing Dougray Scott to bow out

From what I understand, Cruise and John Woo did not get along too well during production of the film. Probably screwed over Scott in the process, but I think we're better off for it.

I thought TDKR was better than TDK in everyway except Joker. Joker for me still is the most menacing villian I have seen for a superherofilm

That being said I will try explaing w/o giving away any spoiler.

Bane is pretty good and Tom Hardy nails it. I also think they redid bane's voice completely. It sounds way more clearer than the 7 min preview we saw before MI.

Catwoman is pretty cool too. And Christian Bale outshines himself compared to the last two films. He really comes to being on this one. He is weaker and is feeling the weight of being Batman. The catwoman and batman have good chemistry though I would not watch a Catwoman spinoff if they ever tried with Hathaway.

However, the biggest hero of this film is solid storytelling and pacing. I did not realize that it was close to three hours. I was feeling that with TDK (i loved it though). You know how in TDK it felt like the two face part went a bit longer. This does not feel that way. Everything keep getting grimmer and crazier and the set pieces are phenomenal.I think Nolan learnt a lot from Inception in terms of set design. You see a lot of inspiration from Inception (except the gravity defying stuff :) ) and this is a good thing.

One negative side there were some dialogues that were somehow referencing to the TDK (one liners mostly). I don't like reminding the viewers of the jokes from previous films (that is just me).

Again overall it lives up to the manic buzz it has amassed and it will definitely have a great WOM. Also, I am glad some films moved out of the way. This will crush most of the films on its path.

I don't know if I like track 13 more than Molossus or Dog Chasing Cars yet but I'm really digging the synth hit he layered onto it. Might be better than both after a few more listens.

edit: okay it STARTS off better than both but it never reaches the heights of either. Kind of disappointing.

I think Track 11 fits the Molossus/Dog idea of the heroic theme. It's also like those two in that it seems to be the main leitmotif in the score. Track 13 is just more of a big-ass action soundtrack.
 
It never hits this cue though which is disappointing. That shit should be essential.

I think both previous themes were better than this one. But this does start off so good.

edit: never mind, misread your post. I haven't listened to track 11 yet. I don't think I should, already listened to 13. wtf.

Bingo. This is no Molossus/Dogs. Not even close. Only a heretic would even suggest it.

Really saddens me because I was REALLY hoping Zimmer would have built upon Dogs like Dogs built upon Molossus and delivered the epic theme to end all epic themes. I didn't get it :_(

Yeah wtf I just listened to track 11 too. It doesn't do it. Would have been better off just throwing Like a Dog in here. That was a pretty epic buildup on Molossus.

Funny thing is they could probably have gotten away with just reusing Dogs since it got hacked up so much in TDK and never got to blast out fully like Molossus did in BB (played the while track in the chase in that one).

Now who is being the dummy? You score-listening dummies had pretty much formed a collective opinion that said track was the Molossus/Dogs of the movie. So this dummy listened to it, and was saddened to see that wasn't the case. The end. Nothing has been written off, aside from seemingly the chance at hearing my favorite track again.

This dummy didn't compare it to anything. I just said it was great.
 
If this is the fighting over the soundtrack, I can't wait until the release, and for that period 6 months later when everyone switches their opinion.

Within the first 12 hours of release, at least one Gaffer will call it the greatest movie of all-time, and at least one will call it a Catwoman level stinker.

GAF is the greatest.
