I understand what you're saying, at that point your mind has turned to soup so you won't be able to fear death. In that perspective it actually is indeed, a very pleasant death. My other grandmother died of breast cancer. It spread out and after a few years she ended up in the hospital where she spent her last few days on earth. She already knew that it would be the end and at that moment she would be between two worlds. When the kids, me and my sister, were around she seemed relaxed and at ease. Like she'd found peace. When we weren't there however, she occasionally had minor panic attacks. This is something I heard from my dad later. She'd always remained strong in my eyes, but when death finally caught up on her she was scared. She'd cry, something I had never seen her do. We rushed to the hospital when the moment finally arrived in the middle of the night after a few days. We said goodbye, knowing that this was the last time we'd ever talk to her. My dad stayed there by her side and the nurse gave her some morphine for the pain. Over the next few hours she'd slip in and out of a deep sleep. She spoke to my father one last time and I'll never forget what she said: "Don't be afraid, dying does not hurt." I admit, she was on morphine but it shows that she had found peace and was not afraid of dying. These are perhaps beautiful last words but a little later she said something that I even find more fitting for her, as a nice caring person and mother. She asked her only son if he was hungry, he could get some food from the nurses if he was hungry. My dad told her he wasn't hungry and she went back to sleep, to never wake up again.

I hope I'll go out like my grandmother, kids by my side having the chance to say goodbye. Hope my deathbed will be as peaceful.

Typing this took me a while and I know the subject has shifted again but I just needed to type this all out.

That is a sad story. I suppose it was in some way comforting for her knowing she had a loving family by her side.

I'm going to depress this even further by talking about my maternal grandparents. I never knew them, they died long before I was born. My grandfather died of kidney disease at the age of 33. My grandmother committed suicide.

My mother actually walked in on her dead in her bed. She was only 8 at the time. She and her brothers spent most of their childhood growing up first at their grandparents, and then in a child home.

This is a total me thing, but i can't stand it when people say they're praying for someone....i've seen it not help a lick and the person die anyway, why are you praying ya know? again, i'm just a spiteful atheist and refuse to believe in a jerk god (he/she/them/it) has to be a jerk.

This is somewhat how I feel too! Glad to know there are people out there like me that believe that praying for someone is really pointless.

Just hope they get better. Why bring God into it?

And feathered, I'm really sorry about your husband. I bet you really loved him.

When it's possible i help anyway i can, if i can't i listen, since i don't have any faith to lend.....

I did, still do. This thread is getting sad.

I still should read those books, they're on my shelf but I can't find the will to take Anthony seriously enough.

When I read the excerpt I was thinking... hey, this reminds me of something from Xanth. And then I read this. Well, huh.

Y'all should play S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

A lot of people have said it is good, but I have never been interested in it for some reason. I have too many games on my list I have never played as it is though. I really have to start playing some games. I think I may do tomorrow. Just push myself. lol

Don't do it man, it's a janky mess of a game that is almost unplayable unless its completely patched over and the patches don't make it a great game.

If you want to be punished for a games really bad interface and gunplay, then play Stalker.

Make sure you download the Complete mod. It's one hell of an improvement.

Yeah. I think I could do without that. I'm going to carry on playing Assassin's Creed 1. I was about half way through the game then for some reason stopped playing it.

I was also thinking about going back to Skyrim and playing through the quests I have not yet done. That is such a time consumer though and it would just mean my pile will never get smaller. I've got to play something or else the pile is just going to get bigger once the steam sales start.

And that reminds me: Greenmangaming is have a 'winter sale' in the summer because of people anxiously awaiting a sale to start. (obviously referring to steam's summer sale). lol

Hey gamers,

It would be difficult to not notice that people are really anxious for a sale. You may have guessed from our weekend promotion that we’re preparing something ourselves. Now you get to see the first piece of it. Brace yourself…

Obviously in places like Australia it is winter.

Edit.

So every year, my friend buys me the worst rated (but still playable to the end) game on Steam and, if I finish it, I pick any game I want.

We call it Giftrolling.

I just finished this year's game, Bunch of Heroes.

Or tomorrow (Thursday timezones and stuff)

Cubemen developer leaked the date weeks ago. Expect a forum-wide meltdown if it isn't happening today because everyone's counting on it.

You can sometimes figure out when it is happening because the sale prices of various games start showing up before it is actually announced. Looking through the games list usually reveals this.

People are monitoring the Steam registry and loads of game packs have been added already. I'd be surprised if it doesn't start today.

I tend to buy games that I would otherwise not bother with if they were full price. Like for instance, I am not interested enough in RAGE to pay £30 for it, but if it was to go for £5 in the sale, I would be more than happy to purchase it. I only pay full price for games I really want to play on release. Skyrim for instance.

Yeah. Could be imminent then. :)

STALKER is janky as hell but it is a great example of emergent gameplay.

When I first played Shadows of Chernobyl, I didn't read the instructions so I didn't know what any keys did.

The first thing I did in the game was approach a door where the guy in the peephole said I could not come in with a gun out. So I just hit keys that seem like they would holster the gun and eventually one just dropped it.

I start hitting keys to pick it up, then a guy sitting at a nearby table stood up, walked over to my gun, picked it up, and walked back to the table.

And I couldn't do anything about it because he had my gun.

Well, at least *checks* you can get 59 ACHIEVEMENTS from it!!

:D

What game are you going to get?

$3,514,684
PLEDGED OF $950,000 GOAL

HOW.

Kotaku did a story about it building hype before the kickstarter went up. Basically did their marketing for them.

The original Kickstarter page had a thing about how they have top people working on it but they can't say who they are. They have since removed this line, probably because it came off as super scammy.

So because the new Man of Steel trailer is coming soon, I took a picture with one of my favorite t-shirts:

And think I should rock the avvy I made out of it?

Inquiring minds want to know!

99 dollah media streaming box.
With the added bonus of being able to play Android games and being super easy and cheap to develop for.

Well

"Android games"

Not games playable on Android phones. Games that have to be specifically ported to it. The kickstarter says it will only accept Free2Play games, which means work needs to be done on individual games to do this. It's not like, say, a GP32X where it runs games not specifically made for it natively.

If you want a cheap streaming box, you can get a Roku for way cheaper.

This seems really unreasonable and will cut into their number of games greatly.

The Kickstarter page also makes it seem like Mojang has promised support

The quote is like "If it is a big success and I like the hardware, then maybe."

It's presented on the Kickstarter as "IF WE GET FUNDED WE GET MINECRAFT FUCK YES"

Yeah I figured you ladies would like my original one. It's very stylish, I noticed the other day the juxtoposition of my hand near my shirt making it stand out more, with the colors around my eyes almost making me look comicbookish. I did no editing to that avatar except cropping.
