Poliça - Give You The Ghost

Heard them yesterday at the Bon Iver concert and was blown away. This music gives me the chills.

Best use of autotune ever. Listen now, thank me later.

Frank Ocean - Channel Orange
Really impressive.

Aesop Rock - Skelethon
Been waiting for this album for a while and I'm pretty damn happy with it.

Baroness - Yellow & Green
Green > Yellow

I feel like they've been on a bit of a decline since Red but this was still a pretty solid album.

Childish Gambino - Royalty
I like it better than Camp.

Mawaru Penguindrum OST

Probably one of my favorite anime OSTs in a long time.

Ab-Soul - Control System

iamamiwhoami - kin

Mount Eerie - Clear Moon

Good album but I liked Wind's Poem much better.

Feeling really silly now to think that in the beginning of the year I wasn't looking forward to much music-wise. So much good stuff has been coming out lately and there's still a bunch of releases later this year that I'm excited for.

I don't listen to music regularly, but I always find time to listen to High Violet. Two years later, it's still my favorite album by The National and the album I return to the most. I've also been listening to Jorge Ben's "Taj Mahal" for the past hour after hearing it mentioned on Slate. Great song.

Absolutely amazing in every way. Can't recommend this enough. Hilarious.

Now I have to listen to He Got Game by Public Enemy.

ive had this for a long time but i completely forgot about it until earlier today. wow. not only is the cover art amazing but the production on this is freakin solid.

For anyone who's part of MusicGAF, I'm guest DJ'ing on a radio station tomorrow night (Friday 8-10pm in Korea) and playing a lot of my favorite tracks of 2012 so far.

I'd love for you guys to join me if you are free around that time.

Gwangju Foreigner Network

Stream from the site above, but you should probably use IE because Korean websites hate every other browser.

Ahaha I just logged into LastFM for the fist time since 2010. Man this is crazy!

Shame it wont work with Zune though as I dont like media player or Itunes.

Everyone has good taste now, and Steam is listening to Have a Nice Life, I love ya'll.

Edit: CB I just got that Kangding Ray as well.

I'd forgotten how much I love Flying Lotus and going back to Cosmogramma has been great.

Also, J Dilla's "Body Movin'" is wonderful. I'm hoping to find other tracks by him that are like that.

The drums in "Paper Frames" are so good, and "Crushing Shells" is begging for a song to come after it. I want more!

Go - Motion City Soundtrack

Very disappointing in regards to the actual music, My Dinosaur Life was such a step in the right direction while this was not. I still like the lyrics and vocals.

Aril Brikha - Embrace

It's interesting when you start delving into a genre basically from scratch (techno in this case). I've spent my whole life ignorant of techno/general electronic music. Some of it I still find to be pretty bad, but I really enjoy mellower stuff like this.

Passion Pit - Gossamer

I've been streaming it from NPR all week. It's definitely more tame than Manners. I wasn't expecting the album to be so heavy-handed. However, if you click on the album cover you can read a Pitchfork interview with frontman Michael Angelakos that really frames the album.

Apparently, he suffers from severe bipolar disorder. I really recommend giving the interview a read and the album a listen.

NPR currently has three good albums up for streaming, so that's what I'm listening to right now:

Passion Pit - Gossamer
Purity Ring - Shrines
The Gaslight Anthem - Handwritten

Before that I was listening to some Frank Ocean (Nostalgia, Ultra mostly), Metric (Synthethica) and Japandroids (Celebration Rock).

Maybe it's just because I've put in more effort to stay "up to date" compared to the last couple of years, but this year has been great so far in terms of quality album. They just keep coming one after the others.

EDIT: Oh, and since I'm seeing Refused tomorrow night, I've been rocking some Shape of Punk to Come and Songs to Fan the Flame of Discontent as well.

that coverart lol

how is it?

i still havent listened to the album prior to this one

It's good, closest to the Swans Are Dead live material in sound although not quite as punishing. I like it better than My Father... but both are definitely worth checking out

I am a gigantic Swans fan. Glad to hear the album is good. Seeing them live in September and I can't wait.

Starting out with the top, the newer stuff. Just some of my favorite songs from the albums/singles.

Pyramids- came out a while ago but still remains my favorite song from the album. It's beautiful. Lost is great too but I keep going back to Pyramids :(

No Lie - holy fuck this song goes hard. Hoping for some more bangers from the album next month.

Jet - no explanation needed.

Lost in the World - I still can't get over how fucking great this song is. I keep going back to MBDTF. <3

Destructo Spin - I recently visited my brother and he still had his collection of music from back in our high school days. Man, I'm so glad I found this. I really need to back to finding more of this stuff. Might have to get one of Converge's cds ;_;

A Box Full of Sharp Objects - I remembered first seeing the music video for this song on Headbangers Ball in one of it's very early episodes. Might've been the first episode actually. Still love this album to this very day.
