He is so obviously being sarcastic, it hurts my brain that anyone would think he was being serious or "slipped up". It wouldn't even make sense to say if you were being serious unless you just wanted to piss people off, which he obviously didn't since he starts laughing and flat out tells the audience he's joking.

Actually, you see he has an arm thing in the trailers/stills. Not really a glove, but I guess that's as close as you can get to an arm guard in the lego universe.
