Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Got this extra BWE key, but not sure if it'll work since some people say the ones from Curse were sometime used.

Quote to check it.

EDIT: Should be NA.

Anyone need a key for BWE3? I pulled one from Massively when they were giving some out. Complete forgot about until I saw the txt file on my desktop.

EDIT: Key is gone now.

Also, to those who need assistance, I'll be going on randomly between now and release to help gaffers with their HoM's. I have quite a bit of currency that I don't need anymore so if you see me in game, don't hesitate.

Oh god, rare mat trader buying ecto at 6.5k... I can't use him anymore.

For Green Mini do the Black Moa Chick fetch quest :D

You'll also get the Sorrow's Furnace statue for your Honour :D

I got as far on that to collecting all the stuff needed, but I never got to actually doing Sorrows Furnace (havent done a single one of those dungeon instances) because A: I dont know anyone who plays, dont have a guild to play with to join me into Sorrows Furnace and B: Going in with heroes would mean having to make a very, very, very specific hero build that takes just WAY too much time to assemble (I barely have any other skills unlocked other then Warrior skills).

So my chances are kinda bleak. :(

Why is this game just so freaking annoying? So much grind everywhere! Wanna grind? You have to grind skills first! Wanna grind skills? Grind the game to get to all the damn annoying instanced areas. Wanna get to those annoying instanced areas? Hire a runner! No money to pay the runner? Grind money! Wanna grind money? Grind skills to grind money to grind GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Well, made some changes to my xpadder gw2 profile, and I think i quite like it. If Im missing something important, let me know

Analog Movement (Walk/Run Forward / Backward / Strafe) : Left Stick (tilt slightly for walking, more for running)
Camera (Rotate / Tilt) : Right Stick
Camera Zoom : RT + Right Stick Up/Down
F1: RT + A
F2: RT + X
F3: RT + B
F4: RT + Y
Jump : A
Interact : RB + A
Weapon Skill 1 : X
Weapon Skill 2 : Y
Weapon Skill 3 : B
Weapon Skill 4 : L1
Weapon Skill 5 : L2
Utility Skill 1 : RB + X
Utility Skill 2 : RB + Y
Utility Skill 3 : RB + B
Healing Skill : RB + LB
Elite Skill : RB + LT
Dodge : RT + LT
Weapon Switch / Drop Bundle : D-Pad Up
Swim Down : D-Pad Down
Previous / Next Target : D-Pad Left/Right
Autorun : RT + LB
Menu / Close Dialog : Start
Map : Back
Map - Switch Layer : RB + Right Stick Up/Down
Map - Zoom : RT + D-Pad Up/Down

Toggle Pointer Mode : Click Right Stick (R3)
Move Pointer in Pointer Mode : Right Stick
Mouse Click (for menus) : Click Left Stick (L3)

This also leaves free all of the RB + Dpad confiqs (ill probably stick some menu buttons on there or chat functions - dont own a headset -). I think i prefer this set up since all of the attack skills are either one button, or a shoulder button + one of the main buttons. It doesnt lead to any awkward hand positions trying to fiddle with the dpad while youre moving.

I guess the only downside is having dodge mapped to the two trigger buttons, but that seems fine to me

I can help you with Sorrow's Furnace, but it isn't that bad. I was still using heros with pretty much all of thier default skills. Hit me up with you want to go, my ign is Frog Pajamas.

About the controller configurations... Has anyone been using a PS3 controller? And if so, can you map something to motion?

Due to OCD I keep trying to update the client so I'm ready for the BWEs. Today there was an update for the actual launcher which places the login there rather than running the program first.

There is also a large number of new/updated files to get. I'm at 200MB downloaded and only 7% complete so far.

Haha, I'm on a different computer to normal that hasn't got GW2 installed, yet I keep trying to find the launcher occasionally.

I believe that update was released 2 days ago and comes to around 1.4gb of new data.
It kicked off some new data mining, which has lead to some spoilers on certain sites.

Does this game natively support controllers? Or do you have to load some software to make it work?

No, not yet but players have found UI elements which resemble xbox 360 buttons, so may be coming in the future (or was canned)
There are profiles for programs such as Pinnacle Game Profiler and Xpadder which do work quite well and are what players are currently referring to.

I use a ps3 controller and use motionjoy and xpadder. Simply enable motionjoys xbox 360 controller emulator and youll be fine. Same buttons so it reall doesnt matter

I was wrong. I am missing 4 out of the 6 requires items, because I had to grind more to get to the areas. I hate this game so much.
I keep looking at these lists of what I have to do in order to achieve stuff and I just get scared at the required amount of time I have to spend in order to get anywhere from the low point I am in.

Even faster, you can right click on the video itself, and clicking "Copy video URL at current time" will send the link to your clipboard.

That's great! Thanks for the heads up! :)

It would not be, for me, but to each their own. I can't imagine playing the game and having dodge on anything else than a zero-reaction single button. In the last BWE, I was dodging arrows at short range by watching the bow loading animation. I don't think I could do that with a two button configuration, less so while thinking about offense as well. I wouldn't even map it to a face button, as the time spent moving my thumb to it is simply too much. Seriously, I would sooner sacrifice a skill to the double button god, than dodge.

The game does not natively support controllers, we're all using XPadder or the like. If there's any such program that recognizes motion controls (I think MotionInJoy actually does), you should be good to go. Although I can't imagine what would one map them to...

He actually means motion controls, I think, i.e. tilting the controller itself.

Something I hadn't noticed cause I didn't watch it, but if you watch the gamespot Asura video where they're playing a Thief, it would appear they increased the max zoom distance for the camera.

Are you in a guild? I joined a guild and got a lot of free stuff..... AAHAHAHAH! 8D

They gave me those Black Moa stuff like Honeycombs and what not. Since it was just one, they didn't mind.

I have a honeycomb if you need it.

The only other difficult item, iirc, is the skree wings. I have seen them being sold for 300g each, or you can just farm them. Its not too bad, there is a place near Kobash Bazaar iirc which spawns a ton of the skrees.

The moa eggs are easy, you just need to work your way back to Ascalon.

I dont remember the other items, but it shouldnt be a problem. If you need steel for the incubator, I can help you.

That might be your mind playing tricks on you since asura are so small ;)

Are you sure about this? Couldn't it just be that the Asura are smaller? It might be that, unlike WoW, the zoom distance is fixed and not proportional to the character's size. I seem to remember my Norn always would appear larger than my human, even at the furthest setting.

Edit: Beaten and proven wrong, yay! :D

Yeah, there's a quest you start to spawn a billion Harpies. It's awesome!

Hard to say, could be something only a dev client can do.

Yeah i noticed it too, I hope its a change to the FoV because it's very cramped.

Good change, and it was rather silly to be so close to your character anyways, reminded me of Kingdoms of Amalur.

I hated that camera.

I'm weird, I don't like the camera completely off from my character but not very close. I know some people zoom all the way out...weird.

Can't wait for it, I'll play nonstop on the last beta weekend event :D

Just hope they make ir possible to make the itens in the bank usable through the crafting, this is the only thing I really hated on the Betas.

Yeah, I don't really like the far out zoom some people use. I usually keep mine so my entire character is visible. I try to zoom it out with just a little extra room below my feet and the bottom of the screen.

LOLOLOLL!

1 platinum left, sold all my ecto and crap.

30/50 finally!

Lucky!

I went to buy 4 damn minis via Kamadan/ Eye of North trading. This has gone on for 2 hours now. So happy GW2 has an auction house.

*side note* I just traded something for an Ecto. I looked at the ecto and thought "wow! my first ecto after playing for years...wtf do I do with this."

I've thought about this and as awesome as it would be to have it, I think it might be unlikely we'll get it. So we can now vanish all materials to our box from anywhere in the world with a single click right? Well if you could also craft with said materials without needing to pull them out, how often would you ever actually interact with them unless you wanted to sell them? I mean I'd love to be able to do it too, but I just can't see them doing it. Though I'm always up for being surprised.

since gold is retardedly capped at 100k ecto is used as a higher amount of currency.

1 ecto = 7k
Never settle for less.

I have two gold rare minis if anyone need their rare pets.

Does anyone have some armor remains for heroes just sitting around that they would not mind parting with? I am back to try and get my HoM points up a little and that seems to be an easy way to go.

I also am looking to trade for a mini, I have a terrorweb. Really just looking for ones that I don't have.

Well, my thinking is that having it bound to the two trigger buttons will pretty much zero to very little delay in reaction considering that your fingers are resting there to begin with. I definitely would not bind dodge to a shoulder button and like the X button or, like you said, simply the x button since the delay would be too great.

Im going to test it out and see though, and if there is a delay, I will switch back, but right now, I like the overall set up since it just seems cleaner to me

Is there going to be a GAF guild mumble or ventrilo server? Some crazy guy on /r/guildwars2 just set up a 30,000 person mumble server for the whole subreddit.

Yeah I have a Mumble server setup for us. I guess the server has been having issues for the past day but it should be good by this coming weekend.

Ok cool, looks like everybody's got their HoMs done - full speed ahead with GW2.

It's BWE week! I'd like to say I want to spend as much time bug hunting as possible, but methinks I'll be spending most of my time trying to get my Sylvari character's looks just right, and then the rest of the time will be playing with the classes with all the new changes, trying to figure out just which I want to start with come release. The Engineering changes that were leaked have me pretty hopeful classes got some really strong dosages of reworking, which is great because a lot of other MMO devs this close to release don't want to do sweeping changes.

If you're able to adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensors, then you could conceivably map Dodge to a quick, sharp tilt of the controller to the side - bypassing any sort of strange combination controls associated with it while providing an intuitive option for its use.

It's just a theory. Frankly, after holding a PS3 controller in my hands and toying with the idea, I think it would be a very good method.

Preordering the game gets you in the beta, right? Is it ongoing or only when these BWE things that you guys are talking about happen?

Just the BWE. Friday - Sunday.

The one next weekend is the last one, too. After that it's just release on 28th of August with head start for pre-purchase on the 25th of August.

Preordering the game gets you in the beta, right? Is it ongoing or only when these BWE things that you guys are talking about happen?

Preordering the game at this point would get you into this coming weekend's Beta Event, running from July 20-22. This is the last Beta Weekend before launch. Preordering also gets you into the game 3 days earlier than everyone else when it launches, so you'll be able to create your characters and get going on Aug 25th instead of the 28th.

Leaked Changes? What are they? Or is that not allowed?
