This was one of the games I got in a bundle but never installed. It is a nice little game. It actually reminds me of Wario Land: Shake It with the race back to the start with slightly different level layout design.

I found the game works better with a controller. When I was using the keyboard, more of my actions weren't being registered; I press jump but Tobe doesn't jump.

I may try for a higher score later. The highest I saw was a 24000 speed run on Youtube.

It may be madness, but there is method in it.


One thing was niggling me in my attempts yesterday: The fact that when playing for score, everything *prior* to opening the big chest is just busywork, you collect everything you can get with no incentive to perform particularly well while collecting it all. The only point where overall performance is measured is the escape sequence in the form of a time. That does serve to make pushing for score a little annoying, since you have to spend a minute or two just setting things up with no incentive to excel at that. Being able to save at the chest and retry from there to improve would make the score runs significantly more effective.

It's even more annoying if you screw up the chest unlock after doing all that, because at that exact moment you know if you're competing for a realistic high score or not.

Yup. I don't know how many runs I've had when I've tried anyways and would have gotten a better score had I just had +15 seconds instead of +10.

haha thank you but i still don't get it. i mastered calculus in a heartbeat but this i will never get.
 
Bumping the thread for people to keep entering in the Contests! :)

I still did not downloaded the demo. Is it hard? Might do just for fun, as always, not for highscores.
 
To all fellow GAFfers who already played on Contest #12 but have a new score please post "UPDATE" on your new post/Highscore so it makes my work easier when grabbing your Highscore.

Don't worry in editing you post I can check twice if you made a better time.

Well one or two times I couldn't get the jump right to not hang, but my score was mostly due to luck with the enemies. In the video I'll post soon you can see how it looks when the monsters fuck me up and I lose about a second or two.

It took me until now to get this one. You have some neat ideas. My gf was especially fond of the Haiku about Haiku.

Well the one trick I just found out involves dying, so maybe

I guess I'm done with daily deals hitting, lol. If I got the 15 second bonus this 1 round, I would have gotten a 1:25 time

Wow, that means you probably have a lot faster route up...

Anyway, here is my video of the route I've used but sadly it's not my fastest run (wich can be found here).

Oh wow, that clip through wall to chest trick. If I knew that, I could beat your time easily

Wouldn't your run have been faster if you used that screen wrapping glitch to fall up to the lantern after the chest as well? That clipping trick was well done though, I only figured out the lantern one.

Basically the same route you took with the addition of opening that closed off chest. I used the enemy on the bottom to boost my jump too to avoid edge climbing there. I got lucky with the enemy you need to kill yourself with and timed it so he was near the edge of the platform. It was basically just refining the route to near perfect run
