I'll vote for Cth, for referencing previous hilarity... if I'm in time.
Edit: Guess not! Don't think it'll make a difference, anyhow.

There is a high score contest going on for an indie game called A Virus Named TOM, which will be released shortly after the Steam sales, on August 1st. The game will cost $10 but pre-orderers can get it with a 50%-discount and have immediately access to the beta on Steam, plus a DRM-free release through the Humble Store.
This is an idea of a contest, although maybe not so practical for people in this thread. Just saying.
I am still doing the live summary, but is there a demo with which people could participate?
Damn, I even missed the voting part, that sucks. But then, Caelith took this one with ease. Oh well, gotta remember tomorrow that I don't get sucked into playing D3 for half of the day.![]()
No demo right now. We'll see whether one is already planned.
Two winners! Nicely done! I think it'd be rather unfair to only choose one of those guys after their hard work, so both will win. Other than those two, we had 18 more entries. And our random winner from those is Razakin!
Onto the games:
TheNamelessOne - E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy! (sponsored by DOA)
Wario64 - Nation Red! (sponsored by Sye d'burns)
Razakin - The Ship! (sponsored by LastWindow)
Congratulations to all the winners again!![]()
Our next contest round will include Trackmania Nations Forever, a free game on Steam (~800mb). Feel free to suggest games that might fit the bill. Todays sales were bad once again, so I need some alternatives for a third contest.
#fin
Probably that was the reason, but won't try it tomorrow. You still wont though, even without the voting ;p
Woo thanks! Not sure how the prizes are given but my Steam name is 'Wario64' if gifting is required
Razakin said:Oh yeah, steam id is 'razakin' if you or LastWindow needs the contact info for gifting.
I can also mail you if you prefer that. Send me the Mail address via PM then. Otherwise I'll add and gift it to you. Choose your poison.![]()
Adding is fine if that's cool
Sure, I just dont want to impose my steam presence onto you guys in case you prefer your current friend list staying as it is. Some guys are picky with that.

Ssssh... He's new here, make him to something silly![]()
Aw yeah, I love Trackmania! I'm going to try and live up to my name this time around
Yeah, I just try to mostly only use games that allow for competition play with a demo. There were some exceptions, but as the general rule. Thanks for suggesting it though. Will have a look at it later.
I already got this game, if it makes any difference.

I've heard Jeff Gerstmann talk about Trackmania so much I'd be down to trying it.
We should try get together as a group to play a multiplayer match in a free-to-play game. Maybe on the weekend before the sale ends?
Nope;Is Trackmania a demanding game? Specs wise, I mean.
Nope;
Minimum:
Supported OS: Windows 2000/XP/XP-x64/Vista
Processor: Pentium IV 1.6GHz / AthlonXP 1600+
Graphics: 3D accelerator 16 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c or better
Memory: 256 MB (512 MB with Vista)
Sound: 16 bit DirectX compatible sound card
Hard Drive: 750 MB free disk space
Make a Binding of Isaac Contest. Find the "Steam Sale" Item and buy something from the Shop. It's a little bit harder to get (you have to get lucky) and there's no demo, but most people should already own it.
This man has good ideas.
I was thinking Tribes: Ascend, Age of Empires Online or Super Monday Night Combat (note I haven't played any of these, they just sound good).Which ones would even qualify? Trackmania could be fun (not F2P, but free nonetheless). Spiral Knights I disagree with, because I think its a rather bland game. Dota2 is too specialized. I'd like to avoid TF2 (Motion sickness). MS Flight is not really fun in MP. I guess the big issue here is to find a F2P game that is actually fun
But as I said, Trackmania could work if people like it. We could have some proper races.
That would work with Trackmania at least. But can't remember if the editor was difficult to use or not.TheNamelessOne - Map editor contest - Select a popular game with a built in map editor and let everyone create their own map. Best map wins.

You could always go back to ideas from Contest #4. These were my favorite and seemingly most accessible:
Kryptonite - My idea is to create a very short video using Source Filmmaker. It does not have to be a completely new video, it can be a modified version of Meet the Heavy or Meet the Engineer. You can chose to make it about the current sale or a video game(s) of your choosing. Basically, not very restrictive so as to see what people can come up with. Members can vote for their favourite videos.
The_Monk - My idea would be to simply take a Photo. It must be Gaming relatedand Steam related.
TheNamelessOne - Map editor contest - Select a popular game with a built in map editor and let everyone create their own map. Best map wins.
ChaChaChaChia - Make an acronym (is this the right term for it?) out of a video game character or game title.
Htown - Find the absolute worst game on your games list, or the worst-looking one on the store that has a demo, play it for at least 30 minutes, and post a grammatically correct single-sentence review for the game in this topic. Prove that you actually played the game for at least a half hour by taking two screen shots and linking your Recently Played Games page on your Steam community profile.
I voted for Azith's idea of playing a Podcast in Audiosurf, but that might be too demanding. We could just play a song or a collection of songs.
A good BoI contest would be making the ugliest Isaac possible. Requires both luck and skill (and it's usually hilarious to see the results).
How about a two-stage contest in Trackmania? Step one - create a track, best track wins. Step two - best time on that track wins.
I like this idea for BoI.
Same games that have demos and high scores:
Audiosurf
Beat Hazard
Xotic

I like this idea, also is there any steam group set up for this contest? Would be handy for setting up any multiplayer events and having the new challenges show up in steam. (Am I the only one getting quite a bit of 500 errors on gaf lately?)
