If you are in this thread, go see this movie. You will have fun and it will only be amplified from all the hype you have put into the movie.

Absolutely amazing experience.

You
saw all three movies and the goals of the League of Shadows
wasn't clear to you by that point?

Why does Bane care about a guy that rejected him thinks. Who's been dead for about ten years? It makes no sense. He almost kills himself for Talia and his reward is nothing basically.

over now

Hoooolly shiiiiiiit

Who said he cared about Ra's? It seemed pretty clear that he was motivated by his love for Talia and the cause.

Just came back

FANTASTIC crowd

pretty decent movie. Don't expect the end of the world, don't get too bored during the dreadful second act, you'll enjoy it. The conclusion moments are damn good.

I CANNOT be the only one who's pissed.
That there were absolutely NO references to the Joker at all.

Fuck you, Nolan for that. Holy shit. You have so many call backs, but not that!?!

He said there wouldn't be. Hell, he said that years ago when they decided to make a third film.

Guys, how awesome was THAT scene? You know what I'm talking about! HOLY SHIT!

I don't want to feel left out. :(

Actually, that is one thing about this movie- not a lot of memorable scenes/set pieces. In fact, a lot of the film felt like a big montage to me.

Enjoy the MOS teaser instead!

The cardinal question that needs to be posed is this:

How does the movie compare to the Avengers? Or will the Avengers remain the king of this summer's blockbusters?

Just got back. I loved it. After watching all three in the past two days, I think this is my favorite. I will try to see it again sometime in IMAX.

I loved Avengers.

DKR>Avengers.

At the end of the day, DKR could illicit emotions out of me that Avengers simply couldn't.
There's nothing sadder than seeing Alfred cry.

Once you get passed how awesome it is that all those characters are on screen together, Avengers loses its lust. I definitely cant see myself seeing it again. The action is meh just due to the fact that these are The Avengers, they're not gonna get stopped by a bunch of weird ass alien things that look like they belong as the mini boss battle in a video game.

This.

Looking at the spoiler thread today just shows how much gaf overthinkg things.

For those who haven't seen it, don't get carried away by some who just nitpick things from the movie because it didn't go the way they expect it to be. they couldn't believe they were wrong. lol

TDKR easily trumps The Avengers for me.

This is where we part ways, Sculli.

Of course, Avengers was also something I have been waiting over 20 years to see. Where I have already had multiple great Batman films.

But I HATE Whedon. So my love of Avengers is a shock to some. Avengers is still the best theater experience I have had in years. A very excited audience that was eating it all up and cheering at the right moments, and a culmination of all my childhood dreams put on screen.

Just saw it... GREAT FUCKING MOVIE!!!!

Although everyone should be keeping their hype/expectations in check, it's not the end of the world movie level but it's a solid movie experience especially for Nolan Bat fans.

Obligatory "this is the trilogy we deserve" post.

Avengers is very forgettable once you get past the action, no emotional connection to the characters at all (you never really felt like they were in danger) and Loki with his space army was the best villain they could come up with?

all three Batman films just connected with me and i was even getting a bit teary during the final scenes.....what an awesome trilogy

When you set the bar so low (expectations with Whedon directing) even a turd would have sufficed. Avengers is fun but can't hold a candle to this movie.

So tired but I'll lay it out and say this was just, so so weird. This was Nolan's most personal film. The Howard Hughes biopic, the Blade Runner influences, meta commentary throughout on his struggles with even making this film, a deconstruction of what a comic book movie should be about. So many intentionally off putting things that i am surprised the audience was game for. He really bet a lot on this movie, so many risks . It's really his first sequel. So many pay offs and loose ends tied I never expected. So many nods to outside Batman influences. He broke a lot of his own rules. Really, he straight up lied about things he said he would never do and the movie was all the more crazy good for it. Just stunned. I can see where some people who liked BB who find the middle part boring or those who liked TDK would think the film is just so out there & too off putting and untraditional to sit alongside TDK but... If you really love these things wholly and get what they're about, you should just be blown away by this whole thing. I'm just stunned at how not what I expected it was. Then again I kind of felt the same about TDK when that came out. You could say this is a mix of BB and TDK , but that description does a disservice to all the other things in the mix here. The scope was so out there. All I can say beyond that is that it was all so so very weird and I am surprised the reviews weren't more divisive. People really love this stuff and they should. It's pretty much the best one, by a hair.

Yeah I didn't really get the Loki love when the film came out, solid acting but the character himself NEVER seemed threatening, basically a rag doll almost through out.

With Avengers I just wanted to see super heros jacking up bad guys, and it delivered that in spades. I was not looking for some deep, emotional connection. I wanted the heroes of my youth doing what they do best: beating bad guys!

The first two Nolan Batman films are better films, but I had a helluva lot more fun at Avengers. Dark Knight Rises was definitely a step down from the first two.
