Fuckin called that shit a month ago.

Oh god, you too? artist did the same thing in the spoiler thread :lol :lol :lol :lol

That is NOT my ranking. That line is a JOKE referencing the faux review someone did for me (in fact I think it was you!) a while back.

I haven't ranked them yet. Nor will I until I see TDKR at least once more.

One thing for anyone else who got hit with that first spoiler when this thread was first posted:

FALSE!

You'll hate it guaranteed :lol

:)
good review also you spoiled me in this thread a few days ago, 5 or more.
When you said it was 8 years

:P

I have a feeling im gonna dislike this, cause im part of TDK>BB camp.

I like bruce's story but i hated the
Micowave emitter shit but oddly enough liked the boat scenes in tdk.

Hmm. Im gonna trust Jett's review. I seem to agree with his views more...

Seriously though, I can't get over how comic booky this was. Gonna make a lot of people love it. Gonna make even more people probably hate it. Like, this was almost as comic booky as the Raimi Spider-Man movies.

TDK>BB=TDKR still loved it

Yeah, I couldn't see something like the football scene in either of previous movies.

Although it didn't come across nearly as badly as I thought it would from the trailer.

I didn't get that impression at all. I'm going to hate this comparison, but it felt like Ghostbusters 2 in many aspects, in the vibe department. The large difference being that it wasn't a bad movie.

I never in my life expected a TDKR/Ghostbusters 2 comparison, but I think I get what you mean and that makes me even more hyped to see this.

I have no problem with the microwave thing itself, my problem is how it was introduced and handled in the movie.

but tdkr being very comic book-y is weird, considering tdk didn't feel like a comic book movie at all.

Pretty much! BB was as down to earth as possible. TDK blurred the line between comic book and reality nicely. TDKR said "FUCK IT! I'M GOING ALL OUT!"

As I said: TDK was Arkham Asylum, TDKR was Arkham City.

Just got back from seeing this.
Don't want to get into details (I'll save that for the spoiler thread) but I was a little disappointed.
For me it was always going to be hard to top TDK (yes I'm in the group that think TDK is better than BB - the second half of BB really lets it down imo).

Highlights of the film were Bane, Catwoman, and those lovely Batman vehicles.
Lows were a very predictable plot and poor pacing and cheesy ending.

I did enjoy it but not as much as hoped. If I had to put a number on it it's be 7/10 (same score I'd give BB).
TDK is still king.

It's a strange comparison, yes. Ghostbusters 2 is interesting because it revisits established/marque characters who are no longer established once the sequel begins. A majority of the characters in DKR felt this way, like you were starting over. That is where the biggest bloat of the film comes from, which for me isn't a bad thing.

Who was it that posted the original faux-review? You pretty much quoted it word-for-word, which really made me giggle.

i had to watch TDK three times before realizing i actually preferred it over BB, it really is an incredible piece of cinema.

and i just rewatched it a few days ago, being so fresh in my mind, i fear that it might take away from TDKR

edit: yep solo's not helping

I think as long as you not expecting another villain or Bane to out do Heath you should be fine.

Asylum was the game that centered around a super serum which turned people into the Hulk. I don't get your point.

With all the praise this movie keeps getting, I really feel like I should see it again. I walked out feeling really underwhelmed, and the film seemed to drag on like hell. It was good, but nothing more to me.
I don't think it helped having idiots at the back of the cinema laughing and making stupid noises every time there was a quiet scene.

I also felt the same way about Batman Begins though when I first saw it, and didn't fall in love with the movie until I saw it again.

Thank God! Now I won't be sitting in the theater waiting for that to happen lol. Too bad the last spoiler posted in here got me :(

I feel like after all is said and done, Begins will be my favorite in the series.

Really? He taught freaking Christian Bale? WTF does that even mean? Bale phoned in his Bruce/Batman performance in TDK?

And every other character was void of character? Gordon and Dent too?

You don't have to put down the other actors or characters to highlight how good Heath was. Also keep in mind the Joker character itself lends any actor to really go nuts and showcase their talents. If Bale had never been cast as Batman, he would have also made an amazing Joker.

No going to derail but I consider Heath's Joker on the same level of a Meryl Streep portraying Margareth Thatcher. Yes, those are interesting roles what can/will help you shine if you have acting talent but that's only a small part.

we can see there was a tremendous path of investigation and discovery by time we got to see the final product. The same can't be said about any other role in the movie.

Was it because the role of the joker allowed such virtuosistic acting display? I can't say but I don't think it's like that in acting. Actors build up their characters as much as they can until they feel content with what they have come up with and a director approves and guides. I can't say why but Batman as a character was a bit overshadowed by ledger's work. Was it Bale not investigating or working on his character as much as he should/could have? was it the lines/script and screen time? I have no idea, I just see the end product.

Did you see the movie Kramer vs Kramer, the scene where Streep and Hoffmann are arguing in the hallway as she leaves the house, you remember the whole improvisation that was going on? That kind of acting school is what I saw in Ledger and actors are too lazy these days to get into that kind of research, specially in action movies. The academy rewarded that. Bale is a superb actor, no question, put he plays Batman as he's asked too and I don't think there's as much input from him. Maybe there's no room for ithat I don't know. When you see him in his other more memorable roles, he is high up ranking with the top elite actors in the world.

TDK is a good movie and there is nothing bad in it, but I think the joker stole the show, is my personal opinion though.

I think as long as you not expecting another villain or Bane to out do Heath you should be fine.

They're so different that I can't even compare the two. I love that Bane has a completely different style and he pulls it off so well. The first scene from the Prologue is incredible.

It would have been interesting to see a younger Christian Bale in the Joker role. Just seeing how manic a screen presence he was in American Psycho and how he just threw himself into that role, he would have probably done it quite well.
