Avengers pulled off what it was trying to do better than what TDK trilogy tried to do.

Avengers is the superior comic book movie while TDK trilogy are better films.

This is kinda how I feel. Avengers (and the rest of the Marvel films) are trying to do something completely different from the Nolan Batman films. I find it hard to compare the two.

I have really enjoyed all these super heroes movies lately. X-Men First Class, Avengers, Amazing Spiderman and now this. Bring on Man of Steel.

My rankings:
The Dark Knight
Batman Begins
The Dark Knight Rises
Iron Man
X-Men The Last Stand
Avengers
X-Men 2
Spiderman 2
The Amazing Spiderman
Thor
Iron Man 2
Captain America

Im really diggin the new man of steel teaser.

I would be down for some gritty misanthropic supes. Would be a great take on such a clean cut character. Would also really seperate the DC universe from marvel.

After all the Comic Con hype I was really disappointed in the teaser. Plus what kind of dumb ass puts a extremely iconic song that is engrained in peoples minds to reveal a new movie. All I could see was Frodo crying the whole time it was playing.

I will say good fucking luck to anyone besting this trilogy.

No joke man. I can't wait to spend way too much money on the 10 box-sets they make of this.

Why bother at this point?

I mean, someone will probably try it down the line... But I can't see anyone doing better. I would imagine Nolan would want no part of that arc.

Well at this point retelling Bruce Waynes story would be pointless, no one is going to do it better then Nolan. So I wouldnt try, I'd focus on a new kid "cough Terry Mcguiness cough" who accidentally stumbles upon The Batmans lair one day, roll new franchise.

WTF

That movie is about 6-7 spots higher than it should be.

DA FUCK?

Am I the only one that thought The Avengers was just.... Ok? Not a movie I would watch again.

Edit - on second thought, I'd rank The Avengers as worse than Spiderman 3

An Aronofsky Wolverine trilogy would've had a shot
I wish this was still happening.

Thor is underappreciated. Fun (and funny) film with some great visuals.

Yeah I was quite intrigued by that project.

Wait what? Is this no longer happening?

Unfortunately no, Aronofsky exited the project a while back. Directed by James Mangold now. Should still be solid (it's starring Hiroyuki Sanada, which is a nice bonus), but an Aronofsky Wolverine flick would have been quite the thing.

My list:

S tier:
Dark Knight
Avengers
Spiderman 2
Iron Man

A tier:

Spiderman 1
Batman Begins
X-Men 2
Batman 89
X-Men First Class

B tier:

Iron Man 2

C tier:
Amazing Spiderman
Captain America
Thor

D tier:

Fantastic Four Rise of Silver Surfer
Fantastic Four
Incredible Hulk
X-Men 3

Fuck you tier:

Spiderman 3

Haven't watched the rest of the 90s Batman films in a while, but I'd imagine they'd fall into D or F tier. Too soon to rank DKR, but I imagine it'd fall into my top 5.

For the next Batman series of movies, I'd like a similar tone, but with a more distinctive Gotham.

I'd like a completely different tone. To me, the shortest road to failure is trying to make Christopher Nolan Batman movies without Christopher Nolan. For better or for worse, he IS this vision of Batman.

I don't know what I want next. I just want it to be different, like Nolan's stuff was from Schumacher's and Burton's.

I had no idea. Man that sucks, I was so excited about the team they were putting together.

By similar tone, I just mean a movie that takes the material seriously and tries to conform that comic to a semi-realistic world. My ideal Batman series will always be a series about an aging Batman, battered down from years of fighting crime, slowly just snapping as the weight of being a vigilante who is never truly appreciated destroys him completely. A psychotic who eventually is not really different from those he fights.

And yeah,
Batman would die at the end. Fuck the cop out at the end of TDKR

I love lists.

Dark Knight trilogy
Spider-Man 2
The Avengers
Scott Pilgrim
X2
Iron Man
Sin City
The Incredibles
Thor
Spider-Man
Watchmen

Would be my top picks for the genre. Don't know how I'd rank the Batman films, but tentatively I'm feeling TDK > BB > TDKR.

Just got back. TDK>BB>TDKR>Avengers>Other comic book movies

Honestly, spoilers are pointless for the movie. Spill said it best, "Anything you assume is probably right". I like my movies to be a little less obvious. The "twist" is obvious from practically the start of the movie. I cannot believe Ann Hathaway saved this movie for me, as I was expecting her to ruin it. Overall, fun, enjoyable, epic even, but not terribly memorable.

One edit though, I really liked how they handled the ending.

So you want Aronofsky's psycho Batman? There's a trailer for that:

wait the twist of
talia
was obvious? lol gtfo of here dude. you're telling me that as soon as
she walked on screen
you said to yourself
"BOOM THATS TALIA, DAUGHTER OF RAS AL GHUL!"
.

It's better than previous movies, you can at least see what happens, there are few cuts during the fight and everything is clear. It's just that the fighting is quite boring.

Fuuuuuck

If I only want one thing in a damn live action Batman flick, it's a good fist fight

Guess the prison fight in watchmen still wins out for competent latex choreography :/

Spoilers... obviously.

Yeah pretty much. I was very suspicious from the start. "Oh high, I am a new inconspicuous character that wants to invest in your clean energy solution device. Because "experimental devices developed by Wayne Enterprises" in Batman movies have never been a source of destruction. Oh and I would also like a seat on your board. Oh and it would be great if you could show me how this device works. Oh and I was the villain in the last Nolan movie.

I actually do not follow Batman so I had no idea of this character's real name, but yeah, right from the start I assumed this person was up to no good. Maybe I am Batman.

Still better than an M Night Shyamalan twist.

TDKR spoilers:

The scar gave her away although if it weren't for that scene the spoiler would've been completely out of left field.

If Marvel isn't hounding Shane Black too much - big if - Iron Man 3 should be a lot of fun.

Shane Black and Downey are made for each other.

Who would be your dream director for a reboot?

Since Spidey is locked into whats seems like a mediocre trilogy, my best hope for the next great superhero movie is.........the next Batman movie, with an as-yet-unknown cast, crew, writers or director :lol

I think Iron Man 3 could be interesting. It's really too bad KB isn't directing Thor 2, or I'd put that at the forefront.
