What are American Idol's ratings like these days? I'm guessing they're still extremely high, but I can't imagine that they haven't slipped in the past few years.

They have slipped. Still in the 15-20 million range though most episodes. Some of it is simply because the show has declined, but some of it can be attributed to the fact that network ratings themselves have slipped significantly since the show's peak years.
On a downward spiral, but the Wednesday show still had the second highest ratings and total viewership of the season behind Sunday Night Football (Thursday show was #6 in ratings and #4 in total viewership).
The downward trend is worrying, but the show remains a monster with unprecedented numbers for being 11+ years in the air.

Dat hyperbole.
If you compare it to ONLY the season before it may look that way. However, you have to remember that season got an unexpected bump with all the press over new judges and Simon leaving. If you remove that outlier last seasons finale ratings are almost perfectly on the trend line of previous season with a gradual decline. Of course its been getting steeper but its still dropping way less than doomsayers have been predicting for years.
I think everyone means in terms of the Judges/Questionable messes that have been chosen lol
The show's entirely predictable at this point because of the voting demographics.
