Honestly, the first tweet doesn't bother me, but his need to talk about how much he enjoys Chick-Fil-A (are they actually called chick-in strips?) is as mature as the posts that got people banned in this thread. I mean, I know it's Rick Santorum, but Christ.

It's the latest in a long series of events where I've seen this passive aggressive angst in regards to a backlash concerning gay rights issues.

I'm seeing all kinds of lame attempts to claim hypocrisy for anyone who is anti-anti.

"I can't stand when people claim to be accepting, and then campaign against the acceptance of certain beliefs!"

The timing is rather obvious.. I'm suddenly seeing these comments pop up on Facebook and on forums.

I can just imagine entire churches full of people complaining about the chick-fl-a backlash, and discussing how horribly oppressed they are... and instructing their members on what to say to people and how to explain how wrong their oppression is.

I imagine many pamphlets being drawn up to help them deal with "what to say" when confronted with the evil bigoted anti-anti-gay agenda people.

That statement is funny, because I saw a comment as part of an argument last night asking why are Christians always labeled as being hateful and bigoted... Well...
 
It's so awesome to see Chicago, Boston and The Henson Company stand up to these bigots. It's also nice to come back to this thread and not see some Gaffers gloating about wanting to eat this bigot food.

I love the argument that if people in favor of gay marriage were really so accepting then they'd accept archaic bigoted beliefs. It's just a weak and sleazy way to make them feel like they're the victim.

It's so much sadder than that. These people who are bigots and support bigoted practices seem to actually believe they are caring for homosexuals and actually care for them as people. They've deluded themselves into believing this falsity and when confronted with their bigotry, they can't figure it out on any reasonable level. It's so sad. I've seen it on here many times, where members think they are above the bigotry label despite being bigots.
 
People should have the right to boycott whatever they want without getting all sorts of backlash for it. The right to boycott is fundamental to commerce.

That said, I don't think anybody who eats at Chick-Fil-A needs to be labeled as a hater of all things gay. That's a tad extreme, I feel.

Unfortunately, when they shit in the faces of others (like Santorum) by actively engaging in the commerce to spite a populace of people, they are labeled correctly.

Well to eat there antagonistically is different than just eating there. And yes, as ridiculous as it sounds to say it, Rick is eating their antagonistically.

I think very few people could rightfully shit on every person who isn't boycotting them without being a hypocrite.

Most people turn a blind eye to what the products they buy represent or contribute to. That includes most people who protest or boycott certain products.

A town or city can deny a business all they want. If they feel it sets a bad precedent, harms other business or does not like the environmental impact they have the right to keep it out. If you think this is a bad thing, then lol.

Lots of people and organizations have both good sides and bad sides. I think overall the good that Chick fil A does (awesome food, jobs etc) outweighs the bad (funding anti-gay groups). That is why I continue to eat at Chick Fil A.

I use the same logic in voting for Obama. I like education, health care and supporting gay rights. If I vote for him or donate money to his campaign, that means my money is also supporting things I don't agree with, like killing civilians with drones in Afghanistan and spying on Americans. Things are complex.

Other places can basically provide jobs and food just like Chick Fil A without the anti-gay funding. False dichotomy you've set up there.

I said earlier in this thread that I'd respect people who decided not to boycott Chick-Fil-A because they didn't find the issue of gay marriage of enough importance to warrant it, but I guess I'm going to be a hypocrite, because I really don't understand your viewpoint. You think that their food and employment is more important than gay rights, which you also support? I can't believe that you put low-paying, discriminatory jobs and fast-food chicken sandwiches on a higher pedestal than gay rights.
 
I used to eat frequently at my local place but I'm completely avoiding the fucking place now, especially after their disgusting lying and making fake FB accounts to argue (or, to quote them, to "derr").

It's one thing to have your little homophobia festering inside your brain. It's another to openly flaunt about it ("LOLZ GUILTY AS CHARG'D!"), and it's yet another thing to lie and pretend other companies affiliated with you aren't holding you accountable for your idiocy.

I love Moreno's statements and letter.
