I don't consider that hover hand at all. Hover hand to me is when you fail to grasp any part of the body. You got full on arm grasping there bro!

I am letting mine grow too cause my best friend is getting married next month and I want to have enough hair to be able to get a nice haircut [I find this so ironic] for his weeding!

Why do you need to include pictures in CV? Unless of course you are a model/actor, which I wouldn't be surprised

The pic though, not so much. If a pic is required invest some money and get professional pictures taken. I would rip that application apart just because there was zero effort put into the picture.

KAOz, you need more light, the light position isn't optimal, more resolution (meaning a better camera), a more neutral background (like white or whatever), maybe longer exposure; and you can tweak color distribution, contrast and stuff in Photoshop or Gimp, which is totally legit.

Edit: Also, make sure focus is perfect.

The face you're making is fine, the hair is dynamic, necklace is debatable yet not murder, but you could definitely pick a shirt with a different color. I don't even know what color it is.

It's not perfect, but you're not a professional, so don't dwell on it. You can improve things a lot by yourself though, definitely.

Keep in mind it will be really tiny, and more or less up in a corner of the application. But yes, I do agree that there is very little effort in a sense. Unfortunatley, I do not have the money to spend there.

Basically, I've gotten that ingrained in my head. Always use a picture for the CV. Alot of jobs here (like, everything) wants us to put in a picture for some reason. And I've always been told both by employers, coaches and all kinds of people that we always should include pictures.

Have no idea why, but that's how it is. Would prefer no picture, and just do all jobsearching in person instead. But alas, it's not always possible.

Depends heavily on where you're situated though.

KAOz, could you borrow a better camera or get better lighting? I'd probably ask photography GAF for advice. There might be some easy tricks that get you much better results.

I think it varies by country. Here in Germany, you usually drop a picture in there. I think it's really dumb stuff and actually serves no purpose unless you're doing customer service and shit, but it's another opportunity to cheat, so w/e.

I would suggest you have someone else take the photo at a bare minimum. Better chance that you won't have a blurry shot like that. If you're going to use a phone, do it outside in natural light as well. We know how shitty they are in low-light.
