Anyone have any experience with Core 15 AR's? I live close to Ocala Florida and want to go tour the factory there. Watched a few of the youtube stress tests and it looks impressive. Also most reviews I read were positive. Going to get a pistol first as I need something for home protection but long term would like to get a AR. Nice pieces so far enjoyed going through this thread.

Hey everyone, dropping in to ask for some advice. Going to make a purchase on a Mosin Nagant soon, and I was just wondering what my best option is for purchase... Gun retailers near me sell them for around 200 and higher which is a bit steep for this...

Get a Curio and Relic Licences, you have to wait about 1-3 months, but then you can get it from Aimsurplus and others and get it for 120 shipped direct to you. Don't pay 200 for a Nagant that's just crazy unless it's a Finn or special model.

This...even in Canuckistan you can get a nice Mosin and 880 rounds of ammo for like $270.
Same deal goes for SVT 40s, which I understand are a bit of a rarity State side.

Fill out the forms. Send one to your local Chief of Police and send the other to the ATF along with $30.
Also, if you get a C&R license you have to keep a log book of the C&R firearms you buy or sell. The ATF can request to look at it. My friend's father was checked out by the ATF. They gave him advanced notice of their inspection and the agent was cool, but it's something you probably don't want to fuck up.

You can also get handguns shipped to you that are C&R, which includes thinks like a CZ82 and pre 1962 1911s among other things.
That said what state do you live in just need to make sure if you need to know about potential state annoyances.
What is the cheapest going rate for a pre 1962 1911 out there? I've only ordered firearms from SOG and the cheapest C&R 1911 I've seen has been a $1,400 COLT MODEL O 1911A1.
I wish I would have applied for my C&R years ago. My friend got his around '03 and SOG was selling the SKS for around $80.

Around 1k at least. It's not a cheap thing, though a cz 82 is, vs easy to get and no FFL pickup.

Not to sound morbid, but go to estate sales. With the number of WWII and Korean War Vets passing on, you'd be surprised at how many of those things are out there to be had for a decent price. You can even find some in the box.

I've seen one in the box, with an origina box of ammo and extra clip, straight with Anniston Armory markings on it.

I recently purchased a Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun for my first season of deer hunting this year.
I also own a .22 scoped rifle and a .22 Ruger handgun, those are mostly for shooting targets and the occasional squirrel hunting.

So gun show weekend here, what are the chances of actually finding a S&W MP Shield? Know they were selling out fast everywhere couple months back. Still looking for a smaller conceal firearm to add to the collection and for actual carry, but not a fan of the 380's

If that is too big then Glock 26 or 27 depending on if you want 9mm or 40 S&W.
My brother in law bought an XD. Didn't like it at all.
Go to a local store. Then you can find the gun that fits you and what you are comfortable with. Prices are the same online or at a store at least in my experience.

I own one. It's a large frame pistol.
It shoots very smoothly, in my opinion.
My only gripe about them are the proprietary H&K rails. You can get an adaptor at hkparts.net

Hehe, it's funny how anti-gun I am, but I'm interested in getting one to go squeeze off some rounds at the range. I guess playing paintball has got me re-interested in weapons again, so I'd like to get into it as a hobby, not necessarily for self-defense.

What's a good handgun to get for home defense (not my intention, but a nice secondary feature)? I'd like something easy and fun to shoot, but with ammo cheap enough I can go to the range regularly without breaking the bank. I don't intend to get a CCP, so I don't know if weight is a factor, but I'd like something that also looks cool. That Five Seven looks cool to me, if that's a good reference.
What are good places to buy a gun? Any websites, or should I check gun shows? Also, can I go to a gun range and try out different guns? I didn't know if they let you rent or test guns there before purchase. Lastly, should I do new or used? I read somewhere that recommended getting used. Thanks for any advice. PEACE.

Hmm somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Five Seven is expensive and the ammo is a strange caliber and probably is expensive as well(somebody correct me).
A Glock 19 is good, 9mm for starts. It has a heavy pull due to the safe action trigger, but they are easy to take apart and they are rock solid. And if you're not used to any type of gun, start with a .22 if possible just to get a feel for shooting.
Myself I have a Taurus 1911. The 1911 is made by so many companies and there are so many special designs, but .45 may be a bit much for a first handgun. Taurus makes some 9mm versions, but I'm one of the kinds of people that believe a 1911 should be .45 or its not a true 1911.
I'd look at a Glock 19. They are around $499 for a new one. You might be able to find a used LEO one for $100 less. It's 9mm so it will be cheap to shoot. You can get a box of 50 for less than $10. And don't worry about dry firing. For most guns it doesn't hurt anything and is a good way to practice trigger control. I'd buy one at a store. If you go online you have to have it shipped to an FFL. Which can be a pain in the ass. Some gun ranges rent guns so I would look into that first.

The gun show is in Miami this weekend at the Dade fairgrounds. Lot of guns to check out and often good deals
I'll be interested in any answers to this. I've been putting off buying one forever, and now it's gonna be my Christmas present from Dad this year, ha!
Thanks for the recco. I could get a gun LEO through my mom, who's licensed as an officer, but I'd rather not let her know I'm getting one. She and my dad are the main reason I'm so anti-gun. They wouldn't even let me have a disc gun as a kid. LOL!

It's an absolutely amazing gun my dad has one and I'm not really sure it's worth the money after getting my babe desert eagle 2 steel frame for ~$530? Also the ammo is expensive.

Shot a FiveseveN a couple of weeks ago and didn't like it. The whole thing is plastic, the grip is too fat and it feels like a toy. Very little recoil, so you find yourself going through ammo quickly. 5.7 ammo costs about the same per round as .45acp in local shops--and I'd much rather spend the day running my 1911.
The Glock 19 is a good first gun, there is a big aftermarket and Glock are very reliable. If you don't like that you might want to check out the Sig SP2022. 9mm like the glock, and one of the best triggers around, so good. Cheaper (only a bit) too. It's a bit underrated, but if you get the chance to try one, I recommend it highly. It has a more conventional grip angle than the Glock, but a decocker and hammer as opposed to the Glocks striker action.
$389 at CDNN looks like the best price a quick search gives me.

Yay, gunshow scored me the S&W Shield in 9. Really nice and compact, but still have to figure out what conceal holster I want. Nice one at the show but not for $100. Gun if fantastic once you get ahold of it. It's not as small as most concealed or .380's, but it's still very compact that it makes for excellent carry gun. The angled handle along with the extra attachment on the mags for your pinky make it fit very snugly in your hand and it is very solid feeling. Doesn't feel like a toy like so many smaller semis. Once I got to hold one, I knew I had to have it. the .40 model they had also, only one left but I just prefer 9mm in such a small package. Can't wait to put a few rounds through it, the reviews have been nothing but stellar on it's performance.

CZ-75B. The aftermarket isn't amazing, but even out of the box the 75 is a hell of a tack-driver, fits your hand like a glove and it's as reliable as the day is long. Big, heavy, all-steel and with a pretty nice trigger after you run a few hundred through it to break it in. You can pick them up for $500-550 all day long and it's chambered in 9mm so ammo isn't too pricey (I've fed mine 8-9K+ rounds of mostly cheapo steel-cased Russian ammo).

I considered getting one for a long time. I still want one, but the prohibitive cost of the ammo is what stopped me.
So light. Very little recoil.
Guys selling one at my local gun club. I'm about to sell my Springfield XDM in a 9mm for it.
