Any gun owners lurking...

If you are a lefty like me, CZ-85 Police model. Its a CZ with ambidextrous controls and goes for the same cost. $500 or less.

Picked up a new Mossberg 500 yesterday. It's definitely not as high quality as a Remington 870, but it was still great when we took it to the range for some skeet shooting. It's very light, looks great, and came with two barrels. The longer barrel with two beads is great for skeet shooting. Overall really good value I'd say.

It's an absolutely amazing gun my dad has one and I'm not really sure it's worth the money after getting my babe desert eagle 2 steel frame for ~$530? Also the ammo is expensive.

Shot a FiveseveN a couple of weeks ago and didn't like it. The whole thing is plastic, the grip is too fat and it feels like a toy. Very little recoil, so you find yourself going through ammo quickly. 5.7 ammo costs about the same per round as .45acp in local shops--and I'd much rather spend the day running my 1911.

I considered getting one for a long time. I still want one, but the prohibitive cost of the ammo is what stopped me.

So light. Very little recoil.

Yeah, I have been thinking about buying one for so long now. I was hoping the price would come down a little but i guess not. thk for the replies

The recoil is almost non existent. My dad hardly shoots it cause the ammo is so expensive and we go to the range every Wednesday.

Got a gun store buried treasure.

A Tikka T3 Stainless Lite in 30-06 with laminated Forrest stock, which Cabela lists for ~800 iirc ....which also had a Leupold VX1 scope on it with Leupold Rings (the scope alone goes for 250)...I paid 550 out the door. :)

Also finally getting a damn Garand from the CMP.

You want to end up like Manos?
Nah that was for Chik Fila, no one has issues with the armed citizen stories I post.

Damn, man - you need to roll a little lower profile for a bit - I think you may have set some sort of record for getting re-banned. That said, welcome back - gun-GAF missed ya. :)

Yeah, but I have to admit the vacation actually work out nice with getting some stuff done (granted I didn't expect only two weeks). I'm also happy I missed all the Aurora stuff, oh man that could have been ugly. Though apparently Chick Fila is now the top news of the nation and Aurora is old hat, so that and the attempt at a hi cap mag ban is now dead. But yeah I'm going to try to stick to guns and Syria and getting my comp fixed.

That said thanks. It's always good to be coming back....which seems to happen fairly often for me. lol

I've been around guns most of my life, just never have had one to call my own. I'm purchasing a Glock 26 (Gen 4) this weekend (feel very comfortable shooting this gun). Probably going to get the magazine extension so that my pinky finger will have a grip spot. This is going to be my conceal carry gun. Any tips for a first time gun owner? Cleaning tips? Things to look out for?

Make sure the magazine extension doesn't pinch. Shoot a lot.

Strip and clean it before shooting it. Learn to shoot with both eyes open. Get proficient with it before you start changing parts.

This sounded dirty.

I put a layaway down on a Colt 1903 that according to some basic serial number research was made in 1920 that is 371 out the door. It's a bit beat, but the slide racked back like it was brand new.

They also have (well I still hope they have) a 1908 for 250. I decided not to put a deposit on it...after thinking it over as soon as they open on Monday I'm calling them to do it. Same condition not sure of the year it was made.

I hope the Colt 1908 is in stock on Monday.

Sweet, with any luck I should be able to get the Colt 1908 still. I just have to hope no one buys it first...but I have some luck in my favor.

Nothing like a nearly hundred year old .25ACP that will hurt like hell to shoot!

My god man does that magazine have 30 rounds, a collapseable stock, and a a flash hider? It is evil incarnate designed only to murder children!!!

Lol Looks really nice.

You have no idea.... I never say the combination to the safe out loud in front of it, in fear this thing might try and escape, go full aimbot, and destroy everything.

lol. And thanks!

Yeah, the whole ability for steel and polymer to act of its own willpower is scary. Lol

Oh thought everyone would enjoy this...sad thing is its true as recent as a few weeks ago with the Auroa thing everyone keep saying ak, even for a awhile an am chambered in 223, which would be really odd (they do exist)...but no just the media being stupid.

Actually, my local NPR affiliate did a piece on informing the public/media about firearms terms. It was conducted by a group, name escapes me, that does training for the mediaon a variety of subjects, and firearms was one of them. They had a segment right after the Aurora shooting.

But then again, NPR isn't like most media, are they?

I want to get an AK-47. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to start?

I figure I'll go with a traditional stamped steel body. Not sure about furniture yet to be honest. But anything to look out for, good or bad?

How much do you want to spend? Disclaimer I hate AK's as they overheat like crap and lack accuracy (yes you can be accurate with an AK, but the same can be said with a bazooka).

Under a grand. Like $750 or lower ideally.

Avoid Century, not all are bad, but if you want to spend them much avoid the headache.

Atlantic Firearms is pretty much one of the largest AK sellers in the country. $750 is a bit too low for an Arsenal AK, but truthfully they make the best ones and the extra money is worth it and it's not that much more and it's still under a grand.

An AR-15 will probably be my next purchase sometime next year. Whats a good site to do some research? I'm not really sure what i want yet.

I ordered a ruger 10/22 target tactical.

I should have enough rails and scopes lying aorund for fun times.

pew pew pew!

And I want to get a suppressor for it.

I got the tactical carbine 10/22 a few months ago, was dirt cheap and just a fun gun. It's kinda silly with all the rails on it for a tacticool 22, but wasn't really wasn't much more than the regular models heh.

I know. As far as tacticoolness, I'm gonna throw on a red dot, or a low power scope, and spare MagPul RVG I have and that's pretty much it. I suppose a sling mount.

I've been looking at the aftermarket for it.

It's the Honda Civic of rifles.

The silly things the can be done to a 10/22 go far beyond rails. lol

Ever see the HK36 stock for it? Lol

I would mock, but, as I am gonna put a foregrip, laser and a scope on it. I have no legs to stand on.

And if I can get a supressor, with subsonic ammo. I will, I dunno silently kill any potentional home intruders/squirrels.

I just had an HK mk23 shipped from Colorado to some local dealer. Ive never shot the gun, but ive read some pretty awesome things about it. It also has a threaded muzzle, so i need to find out the rules in my state for silencers.

Has anyone shot a mk23 before?

It's an odd gun. If you look at the requirements when they designed it, it was supposed to be a real weapon, something that you can act as a primary in close quarters or where an effective silencer is required. It's an accurate gun that performs well when silenced, has a great laser sight and is pretty easy to shoot (although I wasn't that impressed with the trigger). On the other hand, I've shot lighter AR-15s. I'm not a fan of the concept, you still have all of the problems that a pistol has (short range, no stock, relatively poor sights) and you've added a lot of the worst things about a long arm like the weight and length. As a range gun though, it's pretty awesome.

Also, it has that weird proprietary H&K rail and thread. So, get an adaptor or pay alot.

I'm applying for my CC permit sometime next week. I probably won't use it much yet but it'll be nice to have. The M&P Shield is kind of what I'm looking at but it seems to be sold out everywhere. Maybe I'll look at some other options.

Forgot to mention I picked up a Colt 1903 and 1908 recently. Both made in 1919-1920 and thanks to the C&R licence no need for any background check or record.

Pic of the 1903. I'm thinking of getting it restored. Apparently the stain...is gray matter. The gun was (so I was told used in a murder suicide...but that could be gun store bull, but I was told it after I bought it and it was traded in by a cop). Of course another gun store where I shoot said it wasn't...so who knows. I don't doubt it was a confiscated gun though.

That said it and the 1908 fire perfectly despite being 92 years old!. John Browning you were amazing.

This isn't my 1908. But it's exactly the same looking

Oh I saw in my local gun stor for 89 bucks this garbage Saturday Night Special from Germany: The Rohm RG10. It's one of the reason for the import points in the Gun Control Act of 1968

goddamn that's gorgeous. A 1903 is on my short list. Hopefully next year!

Speaking of murder suicides, my sks was used in a murder suicide in 2006. My dad owned it back then and his friend broke into his house and used it to murder his wife and then kill himself. My dad also picked it up off an NVA in Vietnam and used it. It has quite a colorful history.

Thanks it's a joy to shoot and even carry during my late night walks (safe area but just rather have something)

Any grey matter FTF or FTE?
