The Player 1 Podcast Topic

Congrats on 300 episodes guys. Awesome show this week, Rich did a great job hosting.

Like Mik, I listen to way to many podcasts and I gotta say that P1P is the most consistently good and entertaining. I started listening near the beginning and haven't missed an episode since. Thanks for the hours of entertainment over the years and here's to another 300 episodes!

Just FYI, the 300th ep broke the podcast app. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and tried to play the 300th ep as a test. Crashed the app permanently. All other episodes work fine with the app. Maybe the app doesn't work with m4a files?

I didn't realise Giant Bomb reached 300 this week, too. And Gamers With Jobs did a few weeks ago.

Should have organised a mega-cast. Or a sing-a-long.

That doesn't seem anywhere near correct. I heard them say it but I don't see how it is possible.

Their RSS feed has 300 podcasts on my reader. It's probably due to all the weeks where they do multiple episodes, spoilercasts and things like that.

Oh yeah, I guess if they count it that way. Cool.

Mik, your spouse document needs to be shared with the world.

Finally am getting around to listening to your 300th episode with my super busy schedule of working, finding an apartment, volunteering, while visiting friends in another city this weekend has really not given me any time for basically anything, including, listening to one of my favorite podcasts. :(

Anyway, I have listened to all 299 podcasts over the years, and am currently listening to the 300th now. I miss Ford, but still love the show, and with my schedule getting busier and busier, it seems like I am keeping pace with your gaming habits. By that, I mean with guys being busy too, but still trying keep gaming in your lives. Can't wait for another 300 more.

Probably shouldn't listen to Player One on the job. I almost veered off the road because of the tears in my eyes from Phil's Bane moments. Especially with the baby.

Maybe a little late, but I wanted to mention my favorite episode, which no one probably remembers.

It was one of those quiet ones when it was just Phil and CJ, and they had gotten all the way to the end, after talking about Prince of Persia or something boring like that, and they somehow got launched into the longest tangent of all time, going into this crazy rambling story about how they were unwitting participants in a drug deal in LA at e3. I remember being confused because they were doing the outro and the mp3 feed was only halfway done. I think the story was at least as long as the rest of the episode. Best. Episode. Eva. Thanks guys!

Was one of Phil's impressions that annoying dude from King's Quest VI? I'm talking about the one smashed between smug Obi-Wan and Skitchin' Enthusiast.

I haven't listened yet, and I think Phil's done Cedric's "If you're going in there, Graham, I'm staying out here," but I would be thrilled to hear a Jollo impression in 2012.

You're probably thinking of the time CJ and I ended up driving though a really bad neighborhood in LA and witnessed a fight between a couple homeless guys. No drugs were involved (on our end).

Regarding Bane, I've been catching myself quietly muttering in his voice as I'm out and about. Bane, for instance, has recently debated purchasing a frozen pizza while wandering the aisle of Safeway.

Edit: CJ has just reminded me that he was not present for the hobo throw down.

It would be a great injustice if you don't dress up as Bane for this Halloween.

How would Dana Feel about you shaving your whole head?

Edit: I could imagine the rest of the cast reading this thread and dreading the encouragement for the Bane Voice. I have to say that it is a much better contribution than Lefou's voice.

I was almost in tears at the office too.

Like I said, this is all i was thinking when he was doing the voice.

I wish he had used that quote too... I would have died at that moment.

I wonder what other co-workers think when I'm listening on my iPhone and I just crack a big smile.

Also, here's a good a place as any to say I love Mike. It feels like he has been here since the beginning. Seamless.

I also had a 'duh' moment a while ago, learning that he is a graphic designer. Suddenly all the cool drawing sin Draw Something make sense.

Upon reading this, I instinctively said, "And no girl, for that matter" aloud in the Bane voice.

Dyad hate? How far did you guys get? The later levels are intense. It teaches you one mechanic at a time so the beginning is a lil slow. The challenges change as you progress. Seems like you guys are hating based on some tutorial levels. I am quite disappointed since you guys tend to play a game much more before making this judgement call.

The Dyad talk is some of the worst I've ever heard. If you guys DID play through the whole thing, then you need some serious help in how you review games as you all came off pretty uneducated about the entire thing. Still, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. While Mike is a nice breath of fresh air in how he approaches games, everyone else has fallen off the boat as far as effectively reviewing games and now panders to fanboys of franchises they used to play and don't keep their minds very open to new experiences or new games - and I'm not just talking about Dyad, this happens a lot. If you manage to have some listeners whose tastes intersect with yours, that's great, but there's a lot of games that don't even get close to a fair shake with you ex-reviewers because you've stopped challenging yourself and how you look at and play games.

I think they weren't having fun.

Well, it is not their job to review games.

They just put out a podcast with their views on some of them. They didn't like Dyad and they stated their reason why they didn't. Many do not agree and that's fine.

means "Why didn't you like a game that I liked?"

Fortunately they didn't drive the Metacritic down, it'd be a travesty if they were responsible for bringing it down below a Metacritic of 85

Your constant tweets were largely responsible for me buying that game, you jerk! If your constant deal posting hadn't saved me so much money already, I'd be demanding some compensation.

I do intend to sit down and give the game a second chance sometime. I was just so bored by the (admittedly early) bits that I did play that I didn't feel any desire to continue. Because, you know, I wasn't being paid to actually review the game.

Would it be wrong if I read that in my mind:

"Why didn't you like a game that I liked.... Mr Wayne?"
It would have been wrong if you hadn't.

My mind was very open and I didn't enjoy Dyad either. It happens sometimes.

I've given it three chances so far. And believe me, no one wants to sing the praises of a PSN exclusive more than I do. ;) But I wasn't having fun no matter how deep into it I got. And I have no fewer than 20 games recently acquired on Steam that I'd like to make a dent in instead.
