Darksiders 2 new info! [one month away from release]

http://www.darksiders.com/blog-post/unlock-power-war-playing-darksiders

With Darksiders II just around the corner we wanted to reward our loyal community who has supported Vigil Games and THQ since the day Darksiders was announced. So today we would like to announce 2 awesome in-game unlocks within Darksiders II for our community who have completed or played Darksiders.

Players who played the first Darksiders will unlock the Pauldron of the Horsemen in Darksiders II. This level 5 legendary armor piece boosts all Death’s stats as well as his critical damage. Gamers who have finished the game on any difficulty will also earn a level 1 legendary scythe called the Chaos Fang which will boost Death’s damage and critical damage.

The in-game item unlocks are based on Achievements you have unlocked. So if you haven’t completed Darksiders you might want to pull your disk out or download it directly from Xbox Live, PSN or on Steam to get ready for Darksiders II.

CALLED IT!

Hmm so according to the article it's actually achievement related and not the save... Let's see if I actually finised it on PC (I have the game on pc and 360).

Edit: Yup! got it...yay. I even think I got the armor (forgot the name) but doesn't seem like there's an achievement for it.

Darksiders 1 save will give us 2 exclusive items in Darksiders 2.

If DS2 detects DS1 save it will give us "Pauldron of the Horsemen" level 5 armor, and if it detect endgame achivement [any difficulty] it will give us level 1 legendary scythe "Chaos Fang" [boost to damage and crit. damage].

I hoped for something more... but better this than nothing.

edit- beaten
They said you will get both through Achievements or did I understand it wrong?

Hmm too bad. I have the achievement on my ps3 account but I'm getting DS2 for PC, seeing as my PC is like 3 times stronger now.

What if the save thing was a War themed Armor/Weapon Set for Death?

That'd be cool

Literally, I called that shit! :D

So the Chaos Fang is through completing the game. What about the armor? What achievement do you need to get that?

Doesn't matter for me, I platinum'd it.

I've edited it.

Its good that we are geting something, and that armor it looks very mych as the shoulder protector from War's attire... But why not give us Chaoseater? That item is in Ultane's possession, and we will meet him in DS2.

ok sad about the PC controller Hate in that link above.... PC gamers need to realize its just helps sells for PC, I'm more a PC gamer in the last 3 years then ever, I only play Reach on 360, but I don't like to use M/K only if I have too, I play D3 and the mouse isn't that bad. I just like buying the best version at launch if I can, PC with a controller. :D Really glad it has it. I wouldn't buy it otherwise.
PC zealots claiming that every PC game should be about mouse & keyboard and thinking that this is supposed to make them "hardcore as shit" aren't any better than those who want to play everything with a controller.

Different games have different ideal control setups and one of the strongest points of PC gaming is exactly how it allows you to customize your experience supporting a wide range of options.
While it's true that I could never enjoy a FPS playing it with a 360 controller, at the same time I would never play a space sim with anything but a flightstick and an action game/platformer like this using mouse & keyboard, when I have a more suited option in a gamepad.

Tragic, can you tell us about experiences of Vigil employees who played DS2 on keyboard & mouse? Did they also mastered combo system. Also, how long did it take to customize button layout for those users and was there some problems in doing so?

Oh, based on achievements? :( Oh well. I'm definitely not getting the game on 360 just so I have access to that stuff. But I can at least get the armor. I just haven't finished the first game completely on PC.

Cool. Is the Crow a specific character or you actually mean the bird?
I have a weird fascination with crows. They are exceedingly interesting animals.

It's a Crow called Dust.

Dust is Death's crow and his guide through his quest. He is commonly seen sitting on his master's shoulder. Dust serves a similar role to the Watcher in Darksiders, as Death's "clue giver". He may be summoned at any time, and will fly off Death's shoulder and caw at Death to point him in the direction he needs to go should he become lost

Well, just to be 100% transparent, we were really just going over some potential ideas while passing each other in the hall and I mentioned "You know what we could do? We could do an actual combat update alongside one of our DLC releases".

The idea being, if fans really like the combat foundation we provide, it could be a nice nod to them to provide even more tools to play with. This could be in the form of more 'just frame' cancels, our take on dodge-offset, tweaking some of the stuff we already have, or even adding a few new moves.

We are absolutely happy with the combat you will all be getting on release day, but as a long-time fighting game fan, I always love when new versions come out and I get to test and create all sorts of new combos. That was basically the thought.

Anyway, just a thought... nothing official. Definitely possible, though!

All my money!! Would be amazing to expand the game that way down the line. Makes the dlc feel more like a mini expansion that way

As for Dust, yeah he's the new navigator. Instead of it talking though you get Death barking orders at it :P

Thinking about pre-ordering. But I played the first one on PC and it got a bit choppy at times going down to 20fps.... So then I would rather get the PS3 version but then I miss out on the save bonus stuff. I have a Quad core, 4GB RAM but only a 4830, witch is like a 9800GTX, som min requirements.

Hmm, Ill think about this

Definitely right.

The primary goal was to open up the system and give players more options and freedom for creativity than the original game. We definitely didn't try to recreate the combat of DMC/Bayo, but we were inspired by their fluidity and open-endedness.

DMC/Bayo are absolutely incredible combat games, through and through (but I don't need to tell you that!). DS2 is an Action RPG in which we really wanted to raise the bar for what even we expected out of RPG combat. I truly believe that if you play DS2 as a Darksiders game with improved combat you be very pleased.

Once you finally get started, try to incorporate Wrath moves and Gear Items (Deathgrip, Redemption, etc) to come up some super sweet combos. I can't wait to see what you all do!

August 14th needs to happen right meow.

Are there any Dick In The Beverage mentions? Otherwise I'm not playing it.

Tried to find you at Evo but I got bored then drunk. Next year.

i5-2500K and a 570 won't cost much these days.
