3DS Streetpass Experiences

Any color. Just keep hiring them both and teaming them up for 52 damage every time. He has 250 HP so the bare minimum number of Miis needed to beat him is 10, and it gives you room to miss a few tries.

If you streetpass someone with a low-level Mii and that might mess you up, you can also waste that Mii on Find Mii 1.
Do you just need to beat the final form of the boss or both forms?

I've cleared the secret area over 10 times, but that bottom right corner is the only thing I haven't done. I'm missing those 3 hats.

Final Form. Pretty much make sure that you've got as high a hero team as possible landing the finishing blow against the second to final boss, so that when the third shows up, you can start off beating its face in.

You need to do it in something like 22-23 Miis.

Getting that key is pretty easy if you've ever encountered a level 7 Mii since you can just rehire it everyday and unless you consistently miss you should be able to kill it in under the limit. If you haven't got a level 7 Mii then just find a store that has a 3DS demo unit that you get Streetpasses from and keep going there until it gets to level 7.

You just need to make sure that if you happen to get any other Streetpasses, don't take them into battle unless they are level 7 or can team up with another level 7 so they don't count against your limit while doing too little damage.

As an experiment, I decided to see how many new pieces I can get with Play Coins.
Out of a possible 150, I actually managed to get 51.

Observations:
Rate of new pieces seems to slow down after 30.
Despite having four puzzles with that last lousy piece, I never managed to get it.
Even the new Kirby 20th Anniversary puzzle still managed to get duplicates.

This is why this contraption was created. Took me 1,316 coins to get 124 blue pieces across 8 puzzles. Ain't waiting 5 months for that. :lol

Why wouldn't you just take your 3DS with you wherever you walk? Getting 1,000 steps a day for 10 Play Coins is so easy. Of course, you can't get more than 10 without changing the date like that...but that also screws up your Activity Log and all. I guess some people don't care, though...

What's even easier is just getting puzzle pieces from StreetPass. =P

Why wouldn't you just take your 3DS with you wherever you walk?

I do. Didn't get coins fast enough even with changing the date multiple times a day. Got real tired of checking to see if I was at 1000 steps, yet, throughout the day to change the date, too. If I didn't change the date, it would've taken almost 5 months to get the # of coins needed to get all the Blue puzzle pieces I was missing to say nothing of the thousands of coins needed to get through all the Find Mii quests to get all the hats. And in the meantime, Nintendo probably would've come out with 3 more puzzles bringing down the chances of getting a new piece even further. When faced with the sinking hole that would likely never be gotten out of (without frequent access to StreetPasses, which I don't have), it was either give up on getting all the pieces/hats or take action to get the coins another way. Not big on giving up, without at least giving it a shot, and this worked out great after a few weeks of trying.

Getting 1,000 steps a day for 10 Play Coins is so easy.

On a small scale, yeah, but when you're looking at needing thousands of coins (puzzle pieces and hats), it falls terribly short of being sufficient. :(

Of course, you can't get more than 10 without changing the date like that...but that also screws up your Activity Log and all. I guess some people don't care, though...

I care. Just changed the date going into the future and then would move the date back at the end of the day. Kept repeating over the same 2-3 week period, so it just affected those days. Learned a lot about how the 3DS registers steps/coins for a day, in the process. For example, it doesn't matter what the step counter says when you change it to a new day. It allows 1000 coins from that point. Therefore even if the step counter says 2500 when you change to that day, it'll register coins up to 3500. :lol

What's even easier is just getting puzzle pieces from StreetPass. =P

If I could consistently get puzzle pieces from StreetPass, I would use that instead. I don't, so I can't. :P See this excerpt from the instructions on how to build it saying pretty much that exact thing.

You quickly see where being limited to the normal method of 10 coins per day, you're unlikely to finish the RPGs and Puzzle Questing without having easy access to a lot of regular StreetPass hits.

Doing this with StreetPasses would definitely be nicer, but just not everyone has access to such a situation. Even going to local StreetPass meetups (which I do) doesn't provide the tags nearly fast enough. It's great that you have the situation that you do with four 3DS's in the house together, but just not everyone has that advantage.

Nice Swapnote Youtube vid, by the way. Very clever use of the song. :)

I was at the Zelda Symphony in Philly and I've never gotten so many street passes in my life. It was incredible. It helped me finish 3 puzzles. W0000!

yeah, i rarely get streetpasses too, sadly. im tempted to fuck with the clock, but honestly, movies, cons (got like 20 at the last one) and that zelda show did it for me. i wasted do many coins on dupe puzzle pieces like a chump! now i have them all but the new one, which can wait till the next event.

all daily coins will go towards the beastly goal of find mii 2, if i clear another 150 or so at the next zelda show i think ill have it mostly done anyway.

maybe someone could answer me this please:
after doing the transfer to the 3dsxl i noticed the option "to get unknown miis from games" (dont remember what it was called exactly). What is this and what games are compatible to this ?

Your multiplayer opponents in games such as Mario Kart will show up in your Paza if you select yes. These Miis cannot be used for your streetpass games. They're just for show, for whatever reason.

How often can you streetpass the same person? Once a day, right?

Honestly, I'm not sure at all. From previous experiences I would say it's ~ 5 hours, but sometimes it's about 8 hours. Today it's been 3 hours, so I guess there isn't an exact time limit.

For most people in the world, getting the '3000 Mii's in your Plaza' accomplishment will be impossible without having this option switched on.

So I just got a StreetPass (very rare for me, I have 6 total including Reggie and Moffitt) and it included data for Pokemon Rumble Blast and Super Mario 3D Land, but not StreetPass Mii Plaza... I didn't even know that was possible.

The Mii Plaza data may come later. I've had MK7 StreetPass data show up, and no Mii Plaza after opening the 3DS just after the connection. Later the Mii Plaza data showed up.

That can happen if either you or the person you passed has a full queue in Streetpass Mii Plaza. At Otakon I got tons of Streetpasses that only sent Theatrhythm (which has a queue size of 24) and not Mii Plaza because people weren't clearing their queues fast enough.

For some reason Nintendo didn't even bother adding maps for most countries. The only countries with maps in the American 3DS are the US and Canada.

Ah, didn't know that. My 3DS is Spanish and I've streetpassed people from France and England and they all have maps.

I suppose that's possible but not likely. As I said, this is my 4th StreetPass ever, and I live in a very rural area, so I kind of doubt theirs was full unless they just never check it.

Regardless, the Mii Plaza data never showed up, and since I used the Pokemon Rumble and Mario 3D Land data their Mii is now in my Plaza as an "invited" mii.

While it is true there are many without maps, "only US and Canada" is false.

In my US 3DS I have US, France, Italy, and Japan with maps. Without maps are Anguilla, Australia, Finland, U.A.E.

Well yeah, but I meant American countries. Sorry for not being clear on that.

This is the kind of results I'm hoping for when I go to the Zelda Symphony down in Boston this October. :D

Total aside, but has anyone had an issue where their 3DS will periodically not tag? A friend of mine came over a week or two back and despite them getting a tag from me, I never got one from them. It didn't work until I literally shut down my 3DS and turned it back on.

And no, it wasn't in a game or anything. It was on the home menu.

Thanks. Too bad, it would be so good if these were useable.

Since getting my XL I've had two 3DSes in the house, so I've been having fun abusing streetpass in order to level up at least one Mii and get some puzzle pieces. If I don't check my 3DS for a while, will they still streetpass every 8 hours? Will they "stack"? Also, will using the same Mii in succession (and not using any play coins) mean only one Mii gets counted in the final boss of StreetPass Quest 2? Cos I want that key!

Yep, they'll continuing Streetpassing every 8 hours without you intervening at all.

Will they "stack"?

No unfortunately, at the gate the Mii will say '3 passes' (or however many) but when you go into the Plaza you can still only use it once for Puzzle and Quest, no matter how many passes it has. So all this does is lose turns effectively.

Also, will using the same Mii in succession (and not using any play coins) mean only one Mii gets counted in the final boss of StreetPass Quest 2? Cos I want that key!

Nope, every use will count. You could use the exact same Mii 20 times but it would still count as 20 separate Mii's used.

If you're able to use teams getting the key is actually pretty simple.
The Dark Emperor has 250hp. With no misses a team of two lever 7's will do 48 damage with the level-down gas in effect, 56 with it removed (with the dispelling draft potion) or with orange magic in effect the totals raise to 60 (without removing gas) or 70.
Considering you get the key for using less than 25 Mii's then it should be easy. Using just ten should be pretty simple.

So as long as I check it within the 8 hours, I can use the Mii. Does the streetpass "reset" from when I check the plaza, or from that 8-hour mark?

Lame. So the only way to use two 3DSes to my advantage would be to take one fully levelled up Mii (and another random to use a the resurrection potion) and a shit-load of coins? I suppose another one would help, so that I could team them up. Could I do that with reformatting the other 3DS?

By the way, I appreciate this completely defeats the object of streetpass and arguably takes all the fun out of it. I feel as though I'm disrespecting the likes of Tye, who worked so hard to complete their puzzles and the like.

But seriously, I don't get streetpasses where I live. And the system abuse is easily as fun to me as pursuing a crowd of tourists. :)

You can just send the Mii to the final boss every 8 hours and chip down its health like that. As long as the Mii is max level and you don't miss loads of hits you will get under the limit.

The time doesn't reset on use. So if the pass was a three hours before you actually used the Mii you'd only have to wait another five for the next tag.

This works out well for me as I have multiple 3DS' in the house which pass at gone midnight. I use this when I wake up and only have to wait about half-an-hour for another tag, meaning I get two goes before even heading out the door :)

Ha ha. Nice. I'm currently trying to get those last pokemon forms in the pokedex I will never complete thanks to stupid streetpass requirements. The spotpass deliveries no longer appear to be daily for that though. Although, I'm lucky to have got any at all, seeing as it's being removed soon!

Does any other title require streetpass for completion? Has anyone bothered with the Mario & Sonic Olympics Album? I tried connecting to the Nintendo Zone at my local McDonalds earlier, but couldn't find any cards to download. :/

Anyone ever get partial StreetPasses? I have a friend that lives down the street from me, and when I walked by his house I got his Mario Tennis and MK7 data, but didn't get him to show up at my plaza gate for use in Find Mii/Puzzle Swap.

Today, Japan received a new StreetPass Puzzle: the Big Mac at McDonald's.

As if they weren't blatantly obvious before.

Seriously?!
Is there some Nintendo promotion in McDonalds Japan at the moment? Mario Happy Meals?!

If they can put McDonalds in the Plaza Puzzles then anything is fair game.

I demand a Regular Show puzzle. XD

I wouldn't quite say that just yet. The title of this puzzle is tagged with the "Mac de DS" partnership slogan. There are wi-fi spots in McDonald's across Japan from which you can play online and access Nintendo Zone. Nintendo and McDonald's are pretty much joined at the hip.

I was mostly joking. I imagined there had to be some sort of cross-promotion.

10 hats to go and just the Kirby puzzle to finish off. By the time we go to the Zelda symphony next month, I won't have any need for Streetpasses. :(

I should have brought my 3DS to Dark Knight Rises a few weeks ago, that might have been a missed opportunity for some tags. Anybody here get a decent amount of tags in movie theaters?
