GAF Persona 4: Arena Friday Online Tournament [ Friday, August 10th ] [ 9PM EST | 6PM PDT ]
  • GAF member FSLink is hosting a week 1 Persona 4: Arena online tournament, who he will stream as well. It will be 2 out of 3 format, on PS3 and will allow the the loser of a previous game in a match to switch characters. Signups are available here. Millionth edit: MLG Summer Fighter Arena added to OP because I felt it wasn't eSports enough.
 
You should add as a special event the 24 hour Persona 4 Arena charity event.
It's being streamed FinestKO.

Has raffles and whatnot, but 100% of everything is going to charity.

It starts at Midnight tonight (PST).

Anybody else been feeling burnt out after EVO i haven't been able to watch any stream at all. I have "gasp" actually been playing more fighting games than watching them

Yea I watch like a total of 1 hour of WNF, Big Two, and TRB combined. Basically GF only.... I semi watched the Austin thing, and I watched Marvel only for SBO. Which is a lot less then normal for a professional stream monster.

What is the over/under on someone showing up to WNF or Big Two cosplaying? It counts as two if they are still dressing as Bridget for some unknown reason.

No way there will just be 15 for big two. Judging by the amount of people that was here all this week playing it and the fact that its a new game I would say about 25 - 30. Also east coast anime players.
 
Next level right now is all P4u setups. Everyones playing it, it'll get a lot more than 15. There was also a P4u tourney at super dojo a week ago that got 41 and it wasn't advertised at all just randomly happened.

I've still been playing the same amount but not watching all that much. I did stay up late for SBO though.

o.0 So... like are you guys expecting this to be a "hot of the month" type of deal or do you guys think it's going to stick and compete with AE for long periods of time.
 
P4u will never get Capcom numbers after the first few months. But if anime players don't go full retard all of a sudden and just decide to stop coming out the game should be pretty big.

It's hard to say right now but I know pretty much all the guys who were playing alternative fighters (meaning non capcom/namco fighters) are picking this up. Whether or not those guys will show up to tournaments remains to be seen.

FGTV's been playing it on stream. Mostly Shady K, I dunno if they're going to pick it up seriously at all. They invited Dacidbro on to stream it tonight though.

Yeah I was watching earlier. I thought I remembered Justin Wong and Combo on twitter talking about how much they enjoyed playing the game.

I hope the rest of the house picks it up. Ricky doesn't seem to like games in the vein of Guilty Gear though
and Dacidbro just sucks

Stuff from like FinestKO and FGTV have been pretty bad.
 
Would people be interested in a streamed P4A tourney for FGCGAF? I'm kind of interested in hosting one. I can't do a Day 1 tourney due to work, but if people wanna do some sets on Friday or Saturday, I'm down for hosting a lobby (most likely PS3 unless 360's online ends up being fine at launch)

This is the first game I've played in a while and I'm a scrub, but I'll get bodied online by GAF, sure.
