Make it have a compartment in front or behind the cockpit.

You're making me want to change change the cockpit now.... I have an idea which I could not do for the wing so will do a few test builds on the cockpit. Depending on how far I get I may post a WIP soon.

Wait did you make a custom cockpit box or are you using someone else's?

So far I have a rough body with the nose complete, a rough placement of the cockpit and the undercarriage complete. I'm using the Jedi starfighter for parts so that's the canopy I have gone for and although I don't have the newest x-wing I have peeked at the instructions for some help on the nose.

Due to the way the wings are (3 levels on each side and 3 on top, 1 in the middle and 3 on the bottom) the body has been dictated by where I need to place hinges.

Here's the top set of wings so far with the back one still a WIP.

It varies. Sometimes it is just plain bricks, but sometimes they have tons of specialty bricks on the wall. Just look at the sheer number of seats my wife grabbed at a PAB wall.

For hinges and wing pieces, the Millenium Falcon is a fantastic source for them. Tons of both type of pieces in it, and a fantastic build to boot.

I'll need to pray that our wall here in Hawaii has useful stuff since I've never actually taken a look at the stuff in the containers. If I ever got it, I'd never want to cannibalize the Millennium Falcon as even back then when I thought I'd never get back into Lego, I still really wanted one of these. I'm definitely going to end up with one of these before the year ends at this point though.

The wings look amazing.

So I finally dug through my massive collection of Lego that I had stored away at my in-laws. I've not put any of them back together, as my 2.5 yr old would want to "help", which would not be good for anyone. Highlights of what was in the box:

X-Wing
Dagobah X-Wing
A-Wing
B-Wing
Cantina
Small Imperial Shuttle
Original Jabba's palace
AT-AT
Snow Speeder
Arc Fighter
LandSpeeder
Sandcrawler

And bags of minifigs.

Thanks, I do value other opinions.

Here it is so far;

To Do List;
Engineer a mount for the engines (temp mount right now).
Finalise canopy mount and possible droid compartment.
Engine buners to go inside engines.
Complete wings.
Mid section behind dark red nose needs finsihing.

Then;

Overall small detailing and greebles where possible.

From there it's plain sailing.

What will the final color scheme be?

really? how many pieces are in it? I would have thought mine being larger would be more expensive than that.

I'll take a picture when all my parts turn up and I've painted the camo ones for you :)

Here's an older one for now, when the parts turn up I'll have double that amount in black and the same in camo (plus my own person black and camo ones)

I'm pretty sure yours would have a decent amount more pieces, wetwired. A quick adding up of his inventory puts it at 154 pieces per Tumbler, so really not all that much.

And thanks! Some pictures would be fantastic.

I'm thinking of selling my Tower Bridge set. Just not sure I have the patience to build that set (with the duplicate towers and hundreds of 1x1 cheese-slopes) when I have many other sets calling my name.

Going to have to ponder this for a bit...

You could build it slowly, perhaps alongside others. Although I know when I start a set I tend to overindulge to get it finished quickly. Anyone here able to stretch a build out over a week or longer?

Longest build for me was Death Star at 3 days. But when I build, I binge. I did Tower Bridge in a day.

So I'm planning on picking up some sets next week, was going to go with Unimog, Fire Brigade, and probably Tower Bridge if Amazon still has it used. However, I decided that I'd like to try collecting the Winter Village sets, and noticed that the Village Bakery and Village Post Office are still available for MSRP. Should I jump on those while I have the chance instead of the Tower Bridge?

Also, on the topic of collecting out of print sets...where do most of you pick them up? Ebay I'm assuming, or is there a better place/way?

I just built the new Spiderman set in about 15 minutes. Not a terrible set at all. I actually like it better than the all too similar Helicarrier Escape. Great minis with the Spiderman set though!

I think I mentioned this earlier but it bears repeating:

Marvel Sets = shitload of heroes, not enough villians

DC Sets = shitload of villians, not enough heroes

I think that's because the DC sets are still somewhat focused on Batman, so it uses a lot of his rogues gallery. While the Marvel sets are focused on the Avengers movie, so there are too many sets with Loki in it.

MMV is one of the best bargains around, so you done good.

It's more because my job ends on the 10th due to the grant given to where I work ending. I am going to keep "working" by volunteering in the hopes of getting another position when it pops up because I do really little for a decent sum of money for a college student.

MMV is good for the parts you get but IMO the set itself is nothing special. Not very good for display either.

I like the overall aesthetics but will dismantle and redo it later down the line for sure. I haven't actually "played" with LEGO in a long time now too so it'll be fun for a while til I figure out exactly what I want to rebuild it into of the same style.

Heh, I really doubt it is the UCS. I did mail him to ask if minifgs were included and which year the Millenium Falcon was from. Let us see.

Well, the way he described it...

The falcon would pay for the lot itself. Bonus if the manuals are mostly there. I do a lot of buying and selling of Lego lots, and this one has me intrigued. God luck with getting it, if you can grab it and want it.

:O
Where did you get that one?
I'm still looking for that set to go with my other Creator set.

I got it at Intertoys :P Which is a local dutch toystore. The box was "damaged". The side was a bit dented. So they put it on special offer.

They also had the sonic boom (5892) for 35 euro. A Tie Defender (8087) for 40 or something...

You should add one stripe of a completely different color.

I am going for a red stripe as can be seen on the wing but for now I'll build all grey and then add in the colour.

I can sometimes keep it in the box a day or two but once it's open I build till I'm done mostly. Fire Brigade took me 3 days.

Bricklink. Ebay mostly sucks as the prices are sky high. I just got the first Cuusoo set (submarine) for $79 on Bricklink and the cheapest on ebay was over $150.

Has anyone here tried to build something in the Ma.k style?

Googled but found nothing, what is it?

Search for Lego Ma.k on Flickr.

Some great stuff on there but not something I can do, I like large scale too much.

I'm building the Fire Brigade set and it is so much fun.

I think you guys were right with the modular buildings and that they are addicting. Already plan to scoop up a few more. The 1932 numbers were a pain in the butt.

Also, how cool is this!?

The FB is the only modular I have/will ever have so I think that is fantastic.

thats a beaut. I wanted that for the tow truck alternate build. Ended up buying the new creator instead as the transporter went OOP

I like the new as well but the old one is quite massive!
You can still find it rather cheap online...i've seen it for 70 euro in a dutch webshop.

Already sold. Unfortunate. :(

Most Lego craigslist listings in my area tend to only be sealed newer sets selling at a 100% markup. This looked like it could have been fun.

Project: Reassemble got off to a great start last night when my wife decided to put all of the Friends line that we own back together. She built them on green plates and designed them all to work together. Many of the white picket fence pieces are from her pick a brick lot at the Lego store. I think it turned out great. The left side is the tree house, bunny hose, and cat bed. The house itself has been spread out a little bit and a hot tub and lounge chair has been added. There is a lot for a child to play with here and it is arranged great! She has already ordered more green plates from Lego for future builds.

We still have a good deal of Star Wars sets and all of the Alien Conquest line to reassemble. I'll likely get started on the Alien tripods and smaller sets sometime this week. Once assembled, everything is going up onto a book case and our girls can "sign out" whatever they want to play with and put it back when it's done. This way, we can keep the sets together and separate for the most part.

I just got the Grand Emporium for my birthday! Will be building it sometime this week most likely. And so the quest to get all the modulars continues.
Stealth birthday brag what can you do

My birthday is Thursday. Praying for lots of money or giftcards to go Lego crazy myself.

My birthday is in a couple months. I think this year I will bring my son to the LEGO store and let him loose to choose whatever he wants to get me.

And happy early birthday PhoncipleBone!. I am going on vacation for the next week or so, so my involvement here will be limited.
