Stupid Questions |OT| of questions that don't deserve their own threads

What's up with Netflix? I can go an entire episode of Lost without it once pausing to buffer, but it does it every 10 seconds with Arrested Development, and jams half the time when buffering. Makes it pointless to try watching it

Some time in the last several months there was a thread about a monthly membership you can get with a company that will send you a certain number of razors for shaving each month (or something along those lines) which comes out to being a lot cheaper than buying regular razors. Anyone have a link to the thread or website?

Not really a dumb question but I don't really feel like making a thread about it. We just moved into a new place and we have a pretty large wall that we would like to hang something on but we don't really have any ideas, so I'm fielding suggestions.

Also we're looking for a fairly large house plant that is low maintenance and doesn't attract bugs, if such a plant exists.

Anyone else here chew on the inside of your mouth? I've been doing it on and off for a few days, half the time I don't even pay any mind to the fact I'm doing it. My mouth is a bit of a mess right now; it's almost like chewing on your nails or something. Sorta hard to quit doing :S

Did YouTube change the way streaming is handled? DownloadHelper has stopped working for it and a lot of those YT download sites have stopped functioning as well. Been having to resort to Replay Media Catcher, even then mp4s aren't getting picked up.

What would happen if someone like Usain Bolt beat the world record while training before the olympics had officially started, ie during that four year wait for the next olympics? Does it still count or what?

I also think it's kinda weird how it feels like almost every record gets beaten at every other tournament. Are we building a race of super humans? ;)
There's World records and Olympic records.

Scary that somebody can die and that nobody will notice it. :o

What's scary about that? If you're dead, you're dead. It doesn't matter if anyone remembers you once you're waste. That's the beauty of it. If we wouldn't remember Einstein, it wouldn't matter to him at all because he's dead. So there was no reason for him to be scared before his death in that regard. (Or in any regard, once you think about it, but that's a different topic.)

People forget you as soon as your post is a couple of minutes old anyway. There are exceptions to that, but they're really rare.

Don't live through the internet. It's a mistake.

It is a bit weird though. Like, if I died today, my family, friends and colleagues would all know about it by the end of the day. But there's people on here who I communicate with every day, and they'd think I'd just left the forum for whatever reason, or my internet had gone down. And they'd forget about me within 2 days :P

Yep :/

I don't even think about it. It just happens. I've been biting my lip a lot lately too. I should take up smoking as a hobby to stop it.

Tech question:

I want to connect a Mac HD to a PC to try to recover files off the HD (if possible). I believe I need a USB universal drive adapter to do this, but I've also been reading about disk enclosures. Is there a difference, and which would be better for what I want to do? I'm going to use MacDrive to access the files.

1 Remove HDD from Mac.
2 Check which type it is (probably 2.5" SATA)
3 Go to local computer shop and buy a SATA->USB external harddrive enclosure (~$10)
4 Put HDD in enclosure
5 Connect hdd to PC through USB
6 Use the program MacDrive to read data from HDD

That should probably do the trick though I'll advice you to ask your local computer shop for help if your squeamish about using a screwdriver anywhere near your Mac.

edit: Also MacDrive probably isn't free (I used it at a shop I used to work) but I'm sure there are plenty of free alternatives.

A few months ago there was a thread here in GAF about the visualisation of computer bits. It showed videos and images of advanced visual renders of the "inside" of a megabit.

Anyone remember what I'm talking about? I can't find it for the life of me.

Well, what type of thing do you usually hang on walls? 90s band posters? Renaissance art? Clocks?

Add-on question to this.

If orange symbolizes Gaming and grey OT (or vice verse), does that mean the white N-shaped crack symbolize some kind of schism between the two?

Yes. Gaming is the Dark Side. Never go there.

I eat my dinner leftovers for breakfast fairly often.

I do this sometimes too, but usually save leftovers for lunch. Coffee with breakfast is a habit too, so complimentary foods are preferable.

I'll probably give fruit salad a try, and pick up some oatmeal. Trying to stick on the healthy side (though I do love fresh waffles).

Thanks, this is exactly what I needed. I already removed the HD from the Mac, btw.

The city I'm in has all these random houses that and vacant buildings with these various versions of a "sign". Some are just an orange square with a white border, others have a silver/white X over then, etc. What do they signify?

This made me lol. I just pictured a nice, big, new house with random posters on the wall of Spin Doctors, Pearl Jam, Hole, Del Amitri, Wax, etc.

I'm seriously considering having my Discworld maps framed and hanging them around my apartment. They're very nerdy, but ever so compelling :)

I need to get a new electric window regulator for my car (a Mitsubishi Lancer 1991, sold in the US as Mitsubishi Mirage). If I buy a window regulator from the US via eBay, would it function properly in a European car? There won't be any differences in voltage etc. for the motor?

Nice Mata avatar. Go Chelsea! :b

He's a genius!

My Firefox smooth scrolling gets horribly choppy after about 30 minutes of use (in fact, it is never really all that smooth). Is there any known fix for this aside from using regular scrolling? Google is failing me.

Just bought Metro 2033 and Bioshock for the 360, sadly have yet to play both. Which should i play first?

Play whatever sounds fun to you.

What the hell are sharp knees?

I believe it originated from this:
3HUJ

(So a joke, there is really no such distinction.)
