I know nothing about monthly pricing for cell phones. Is $42/ month for unlimited data, text, and talk on Sprint a good deal?

Quite good- my 'unlimited' Verizon plan is $100/month. You should check the fine print for throttling and overage concerns, though- you may get 'unlimited' data but only the first 100MB is at a usable speed or something.

I don't think there should be a throttling concern. Its a thing through my school to be a part of a smart phone research thing. They give you a free nexus S and 1 year of free unlimited service. After that it is $42/month. Only catch is that you have to occasionally participate in experiments.

Try removing and re-attaching the battery, start the controller, plug the kit to the controller.

Also, i think it only has red and green light, not orange. Not that this matters.

Didn't help. I can use the controller with the Play & Charge cable plugged into the Xbox 360 but it's not actually charging. What am I doing wrong?

Now I have tried connecting it to a stationary PC and hoping for it to charge through the computer but that doesn't seem to help, there's no light at all.

What episode is this from?

So I've started working at a Retail store recently, I'm currently going through training. I only get 15 hours per week and work overnight.

I've obviously been looking for a better job during the day, however this is my first job.

If I do get a job offer somewhere else, is it better to give a two weeks notice or just a day/two?

And what would the be minimal time I should be working at one place to use on my resume? 3 months?

It's always best to give two weeks unless it is completely unavoidable.

Do you have spare batteries? It might be that the battery is busted. You can actually use a battery controller as a "wired" controller with the kit without having battery inserted.
Alternatively the kit is busted.

I'm looking for these old videos that were parodies of tech instruction videos about using computers. They were pretty short and hosted by a nerdy likable nice guy. They were meant to look like something from public broadcasting and set in the late 80's/early 90's. They were also filled with misinformation or bad instruction. Anybody remember what the series was called or where I can find them?

YT viewcount:
They don't give a shit up to about 301 views; after that, they check the viewcount more thoroughly because it becomes monetarily relevant. So you won't achieve much by watching the same video from the same IP 10k times, for instance.
Up to about 301 because the viewcount syncing across all those CDNs is sorta broken. So you can get up to 320 or so until the viewcount freezes. But it WILL freeze at that point, they'll do a thorough scheduled check of views up to that point, and repeat checks in bigger intervals before updating the viewcount.

Sounds like Look Around You.

Sounds like Look Around You.

Thanks, guys.

So close... Look Around You is great, but sadly not the ones that I'm looking for. American host and always took place in an office environment (no other actors visible) and the guy would instruct from his cubicle. Guy wore glasses. I know that's not very helpful, but that's all I've got.

I see. Thanks.

Unless you want to burn bridges, always give two weeks when you can.

Any ICBC Autoplan brokers around here?

Going to get insurance for my first car, I got a quote a week ago but forgot to ask what the License fee is. It'll cost me $60. Anyone know what this fee is for exactly? ICBC's site is no help.

Are Apple devices (specifically iPad) region locked? Cause I moved and have been living in Taiwan but would like to access the NA market (purchase apps etc). I have an address (legit one) and bank account there (born citizen here).

Or do I need to buy one in the states?

I am wonder cause I may spring for one here.

You just need to change the location and payment method for your Apple ID. The device itself isn't region locked.

I just bought the kit though, so it shouldn't be busted. =/

This is stupid, but how do you put spoiler tags here on gaf (those black bars)? I have no idea. Also adding an attachment picture. I have no idea how or if it can be done.

For spoilers

And for images you first need to upload it to an image host such as minus.com. Then put the link to the image between the img-tags.

For spoilers, use spoiler tags.

It always seems like everyone smokes in Japan. Is lung cancer a problem there?
Lung cancer is a problem everywhere. You can compare prevalence of smokers and the lung cancer rates here.

Estimated Lung Cancer Mortality Worldwide in 2008
Code:
Country Age-standardised mortality rates per 100,000
Japan - ♂	29.2
USA - ♂ 38.2

Japan - ♀	8.2
USA - ♀ 24.1

Anyone here experienced in the ways of Power Drills?

I used to be a Craftsman devotee, but it's been so long since I've bought a new one, I'm not sure what the good brands are nowadays.

What would happen if someone like Usain Bolt beat the world record while training before the olympics had officially started, ie during that four year wait for the next olympics? Does it still count or what?

I also think it's kinda weird how it feels like almost every record gets beaten at every other tournament. Are we building a race of super humans? ;)

No, we're not. That would require active genetic engineering or selective breeding.
It's just that more effective training+diet with better living standards allows humans to push our limits.
Athletes are admirable for pushing human body to its limits. If there's one thing i'm envious of, it is athletes.

True. I don't suppose equipment has anything to do with it too? :) Like more modern sneakers etc.

Frankly, i doubt equipment has much to do with this. Humans evolved to walk and run without shoes. I seem to be recalling some races (or sub-races, or it might be phenotype) having slightly different leg musculature, even better suited for walking and running.
On proper ground, running without shoes doesn't probably impact records. (EDIT i seem to be recalling that some athlete usually competed without shoes. Not sure if true or allowed, i don't really follow sports so it might be my memories getting mixed).
