Moments later...

The mark of a true addict.

:lol I meant to drop that on the physical game and then have to do it online also since I have none of the cards online either.

Indeed. And I wish I could afford to pick yours up, but $35 a piece is just too much to ask haha It's SUCH a good card though. I gotta find myself some cheap Entreats in the meantime.

Ya, and it's so high it really can't go much higher so I guess I'll just avoid it until ravnica and see if it drops at all. It can only lose value at this point but if you play red even in the smallest capacity then you pretty much need it. Or doing yourself a big disservice if you don't.

It's good enough to splash red in for. It's pretty much single-handedly the reason I went Naya Pod instead of just GW pod.

fuck, how come whenever I play with my red/white someone always pulls out a sword of war and peace

can't wait for that card to leave standard

lol. Me too...though I hate Wurmcoil much, much more. How did they ever think that card was fair? Counter or O-Ring is the only way to get rid of it. And now with trading post? GAH

Yea I can't wait for the rotation.

No more Titans, Wurmcoil, Batterskull, Swords.

So sick of all those cards.

I'm excited to have all that Phyrexian stuff rotate out, because this upcoming rotation will finally be all cards that I am familiar with :)

No more random Myrs appearing and making me wonder wtf kind of deck this person is playing.

hopefully they'll reprint Lightning Helix for when they release Boros

That card would make my deck way better

Also, Ive made my r/w hoomie deck way better, and have been testing it in MTGO

Ive pooped on most of the decks I've played, the only time ive lost is when a green mana ramp got a sword of war and peace, or when I got mana screwed

I hate getting mana screwed btw

Also, why didn't anyone make a Myracle Deck around Entreat/Bonfire with the myrs that give mana

The Pun alone is worth the shittiness of the deck

So, ever since we had that days long power outage here in Ohio, my family has gotten back into M:tG. A week or so ago, I was given Venser's planeswalker deck as a gift. And Venser has an ability that creates an Emblem. I was unfamiliar with this kind of card so I looked it up.

Apparently, it's not a permanent, it's pretty much just a floating ability that can't be removed because there are no cards that target emblems. My source is kind of old, but is this still the case?

Also, if Venser is destroyed or leaves play, does the emblem remain?

An update to my earlier question. Is there anything stopping me from using his ability to put an emblem into play twice, assuming I could pay the cost again? So that every time I cast a spell I would exile two permanents?

The only problem is that the game would usually be over far before that point :D

But yes, if you can get two of his emblems out, it would work that way. There's no rule that prevents it.

In magic EVERYTHING STACKS

Yup. I've actually had this happen before, it was a Caw-blade v Mono-Red match and we both flooded on lands, so I had to basically wait him out to kill any creature he played at instant speed. Then I got a Hawk and Geddon'd him.

So what happened to turn Bonfire from a meh mythic miracle to the must have card of AVR?

Just trying it I guess?

That's the thing that intrigues me so much about most competitive games. Meta-game changes are really bizarre. All the cards are still the same as they were when the set was released, but people using the cards in different ways changes the relative value of every other card.

The most epic example of this is Super Turbo where for like 15 years, T.Hawk was the lowest tier character in the game. One technique discovered a decade and a half later and he is top tier.

It was neve a meh mythic. The MGS Forums went NUTS over that one.

I mean, a fireball that hits your opponents board, all his critters, gets around hexproof and has literally no downside for you to use? Also, splashable?

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS.

I'm really interested what first set in ravnica will have. So much good removal rotating out, especially sweepers or ever spot removal. Should be very interesting how you deal with stuff in a couple months.

Was it ever meh? It's a board wipe that only affects the opponent AND deals damage to them directly. I wonder if it will go up in price since slagstorm will be gone... But slagstorm is so rarely used instead now I doubt it should have much effect.

I thought so? It was the XXR cost that was really getting to people from what I remember.

3-5 mana to wipe out a bunch of tokens and dome the opponent while your creatures stay safe is a rock-solid deal. Getting that effect for 3 mana or less is ridiculous.

It's still not good as Slagstorm/Whipflare in control as you want to hold it for when you really need it or they overextend. But the format is all about aggressive creature decks right now so having it only wipe their side is huge.

I think people were still unsure about how Miracles worked if that was the case. Also keep in mind that most people were glossed up on Temporal Mastery, which wasn't as game-breaking as predicted.

I think Entreat the Angels and Terminus are the only other ones that see regular play. It's my personal opinion that Revenge of the Hunted is criminally underrated.

Entreat only sees play in dedicated Miracle decks. Terminus sees a bit more though.

Revenge is very, very good in U/G infect.

Ah right, I guess it did overshadow all other Miracles.

See, a topdeck fireball everything seems to work in the vast majority of matchups. Unless stuffy doll becomes the new delver, damage be damage and will always be good

It will be even better after rotation, because right now it actually has some competition from Whipflare and Slagstorm in certain types of decks. The red sweepers in Innistrad block are either absurdly bad (Rolling Temblor) or just entirely too situational (Blasphemous Act).

We really have no way of knowing what the format will be like after RTR comes in. Right now everything and everyone is so stupidly aggressive like Delver, Pod, Ramp, etc that a one-sided board wipe is pretty much almost a guaranteed win. If the format shifts towards more spells and interactions then Bonfire loses a lot of its oomph.

I haven't played standard in about two months but it seems like blue mages sideboarding in Redirect would be really funny against decks that run Bonfire.

The problem w/ Redirect is that it only hits 3/4 cards in the entirety of the Naya deck, and is dead otherwise. Delver has to get a T1/2 Delver down and quickly flip it, or they'll be too far behind very quickly.

Bu bu bu ... Murder!?

Ya, but you lose like everything else. Plus murder is a 3 drop which makes it a lot worse too. Black sun, Day of Judgment, doom blade, go for the throat, slagstorm, etc., etc. will all be gone unless they reprint stuff in ravnica. Mutilate came back but is garbage compared to black sun. Creature heavy will see a huge rise again unless they print some crazy stuff for removal in ravnica.

True but that's only because in control you don't actually care about your creatures on the board, you use them because it hurts your opponent many times more than it ever could you.

Revenge seems good in like any green deck. I played 2 mono green decks that had that with dungrove and stuff which could be pretty insane at times especially since it pulls all blockers to it which can just be game if they miracle it. Definitely hard to chose when to hold back attacks if at all if they miracle a revenge.

Turn 1 Glistener Elf
Turn 2 Miracle Revenge

:(

You don't even need that. U/G is infect if you don't have an answer early. I've been T2 blighted agent, T3 rancor + titanic, T4 Just die. Rancor makes it bananas especially with blighted agent or even the myr that pumps itself if blocked. Most people still use GotT more than doomblade too which makes it nicer also.

Edit: I can't believe how boring zombies are. I'm watching a deck tech on zombie pod since I love pod and it's still boring to watch. :/ I've never been so bored by a creature type.

Yeah it's definitely not worth playing right now when blue mages still have access to Mana Leak. I guess it'll be dependent on what kind of counter-magic RTR gives.

I know. I was being sarcastic. Murder sucks...but RTR will bring some creature removal. No way in hell they let Murder and O-Ring be the only removal in STD.

...okay, now we're enemies.

Leak isn't even a good answer either.

The best I've seen is Divine Deflection, imo.

I have Divine Deflection in my G/W Human Path sideboard because someone told me it's a good sideboard card. I was kinda grasping for straws at that point, so I threw it in. But I really don't know when I should be playing it. Usually when I finish game one, I can look at my sideboard and be like:

Okay, this deck likes to be doing a lot of X. That means Y and Z in my deck aren't as effective as A and B would be in my sideboard.

But with Divine Deflection.. I don't really know when is a great time to play that. Damage based removal decks? (bonfire?)

Deflection is good against Bonfire because you can pick and choose where you apply the damage reduction while flinging a fireball at either your opponent at one of their creatures.

It's also not dead at other points in the game like counterspells are (it can redirect combat damage as well.)
