Fighting Games Weekly | August 6-12

I remember when Remix was talking about that show, he was saying how it was going to be the east coast ghetto version of cross counter.

That really explains why it never went through and why Remix suddenly didn't like Jago when they were like best friends.

I like how Hak is taking the professional route in this situation and just staying silent and just continue to push his brand.

Awesome, will be great to see it get some focus other than the fact that we will have the idiots in the stream spouting stupidity about anime fighters and weeaboo this and that and whare is marvels and random other gems.

It's ok, on the flip side you'll have people talking about how VF is so awesome, deep, balanced, and a real man's game from people that dont really know why they're saying that or none the less even play the game, all the while bashing other games that they don't know how to play either.

Nah. When VF goes on, people just complain about how boring it is and how no one wants to watch or play it.

My problem with VF is that I generally don't like 3d fighters.

TTT1 was the best tekken for me.
SC2 was the best Soul Calibur for me.
And I never really liked playing VF, though I give mad respect with always a stream window just to stream monster it.

Does DOA even count as a competitive fighter? lol

There's a static map, you spawn in the same (or maybe 2-3 different) spots every time.
Your objective is to find 8 notes that spawn in any of like 15-20 predefined locations.
The first time you pick up a note, an ominous noise starts and the slenderman starts following you. He's pretty much always behind you. Every note you pick up increases the speed at which he follows you. Every other note adds another ominous noise in the background.
Using your flashlight also increases the speed with which he follows you, so you pretty much should only use it indoors.

edit: Oh yeah, if you look at him for more than a second or two, you lose, so turning completely around is almost always a horrible idea.

SC is the only 3D fighter I can tolerate because it's the only one without boring characters in it.

Helps growing up with SCII.

VF5 at MLG is a stupid exhibition where everyone competes for the highest win streak and the two best face off in finals. I guess it could lead to a full tournament at Dallas but it'd be even more dead than MLG KOF and Soul Calibur.

Say what? Is that for real? That just sounds so damn terrible.

And once again I'm glad MLG doesn't have rights to Capcom games.

Jesus Christ... these guys keep telling us "oh no we learn from our mistakes we understand what to do now!"

Clearly you still don't, and haven't learned a damn thing.

So... who wants to date Happy Medicine. Its him right?

Hey that shot is from a local tourney I helped run...had no idea it was planned for something so awful. :\

Triforce talks Jago leaving and returning. Expands on the Remix/Jago thing too which all makes sense now.

Hak always seemed like a shady figure.

I may be a bit biased since I really like the stuff Fingercramp puts out (namely their weekly streams) but I wouldn't say Hak is a shady person. I believe he's been in the FGC for quite awhile...he just wasn't well known. After I found out he quit his job to pursue fingercramp and has been unemployed for about year, I really respect him.

In regards to this particular situation, it may be difficult to find out why Jago left when all we have is Triforce's word.

Isn't Arturo responsible?

so... its a game of avoid the killers and luck your way to finals? LOL

That would be a normal tourney and praying to get into an easy bracket. This is more like hope your nemesis' are the end of the queue so you can get a long streak. Everyone is getting to run into a killer eventually it is just a question of how many jobbers they crushed first.

From what I know he just help promote and run shit. There is no way in hell Art would think of this silly ass shit.

Yea, they need to hire him as a adviser or some shit, this is getting ridiculous, but then again maybe this is just a little fun event and nothing serious so they are going with this weird format.

Wasnt that what they did with MK9 last year? I remember they had a MK9 streak exhibition before they added it to the roster. Still kinda silly.

I'm so damn conflicted (and I"m popping off on the Twittas some)

Advantages for MLG:
- driving distance
- esports money
- probably less talented players

Disadvantages
- will be playing tired as hell, getting off a mid
- format sucks balls and may require endurance, which sucks when you're tired, and when you play the shittiest character in the game

Advantages for Summer Jam
- doesn't start till Saturday
- has other games
- maybe some folks I want to see

Disadvantages
- cost of hotel room and food (around $400 max)
- not really digging Persona right now, and won't have time to start digging it if I train VF hard.

This isn't a bad decision to make, this is First World problems and all, but really aggravated at MLG for taking so damn to announce things. Two weeks is not fair to folks who have to plan shit out (aka folks who have jobs that require this- and that is much of the VF comm)

I'm not going to rip into Arturo or Shidosha- it's not their fault, they're trying to do the best they can. I am ripping into MLG though for poor planning and treating VF like an afterthought (which is probably is to them), and for their comments on KOF (which weren't fair)

MLG has to understand that they have to win the FGC over, we're not just going to fall for their flashy wallets. I don't think they get why folks prefer community events to their events.

Not gonna happen.
What youre looking for is not what MLG has to offer. MLG has $$$ not community.
Im not a fan of how the MLG is handling FGs.

With all the raffles/donation, "sponsor"ships, drama and general bullshit in the community, I'm surprised people still haven't ran to the money.

I mean, why not? Shit's already like a goddamn circus. Go all the way and sell out. Shit ain't rocket science.

Try and find some roommates for Summer Jam, that will bring the coast down if you all split it.

I think they want to sell out on their own terms, heh.

MLG events seem to be held in Ohio so I assume getting there is an issue.

MLG has been great to MK even though I had a few issues with Anaheim like laggy monitors(eventually fixed) and way too many hype matches off stream. They have these marquee matches off stream with the logic being they can't stream everything so come to the event to see it live but you can't see it live because it's roped off and a small crowd blocks the view.

The raffles- I blame Mad Catz giving out sticks as prizes for this somewhat- they make awesome sticks, but they gotta realize that giving these sticks out to folks who already have a ton of sticks- they're just gonna raffle them off. Not sure what the solution is here.

"sponsor"ships would happen either way. Same with the drama and bullshit- that shit happened in the OG days as well, before the money came in, so nothing new there. It's just more public now due to it being on streams instead of alt.game.sf2

Also, with MLG you never know if the rules are going to bullshit you out. That VF exhibitions- locals have already figured out a way to game the system if they wished, and it's been gamed before in the exact same way, MLG never learns from its mistakes- they're like SBO in that regard. FGC is such a small part of what MLG wants to be, but it just doesn't get treated properly because it needs to be handled differently.

Been looking- so far no luck, most folks I know won't plan shit until last minute which sticks me in a bind.
