Breaking Bad - Season 5, Part 1 - Sundays on AMC

We probably would have reached the thread limit if it was the full 12 episodes. Probably won't now since Season 5 is divided into 2 parts.

I had hopes.

I think after the part 1 finale where Walt kills Marie, part 2 will get close.

Was anyone else also kinda upset that Walt sold the P.O.S. Pontiac Aztec to the mechanic?

As ugly as of a car it is, it became iconic throughout the seasons. Walt did lotta stupid shit with that car. Bodies landing on it. Chase scenes. Dileberate "accidents" Stalking people, detective work etc. I was really hoping he'll start driving it again, that little Toyota Echo was just looking ridiculous on him.

Walt's dead. And Heisenberg wouldn't be caught dead in that car.

There's definitely going to be some romance between Jesse and Lydia right?
There was some nice chemistry there in the warehouse while getting the cargo of methylamine.

That's almost inevitable. If Walt fucks Marie... He will totally be the biggest TV protagonist come douchebag!

Jesse is getting shafted this season with his development, breaking up with Andrea off screen for example
Based off the fact that they didn't show the break-up scene, I kind of have an inkling that Jesse was lying to Walt about breaking up with her in an attempt to protect her. It just seems like too important of a scene not to show.

Maybe Jessie's concocting a plan of his own like Walt did at the end of season 4.

I'm sure he suspects something is off, and hopefully he pieces it all together before the end of this run. This seems like the most logical way to end Jessie's development, student surpassing the master and all.

You're completely missing the point. Skyler doesn't love Walt anymore, and the reasons why are irrelevant. You can't force someone to be your life partner, yet that is exactly what Walt is doing. She clearly hates him yet he lays beside her every night and cuddles her while she is paralyzed with fear and disgust. It's incredibly creepy and wrong, and I can't fucking believe I have to explain this to another human being.

You think marriage is a bunch of unicorns and daffodils with both partners shitting rainbows? No, marriages have ups and downs. Right now, Walt and Skyler are going through a down. The difference is that Walt is doing everything he can to make it work and keep the family together, while Skyler is displaying absolutely no regard for the emotional well-being of their MS-afflicted son.

Watching the S05E05 promo, it's even more clear who the villain is becoming. You see Walt forced by Skyler to be cold to Walt Jr., the one person who he connects with more than anyone on Earth and probably the only person in his life who loves cooking as much as he does. Do you think for a minute that Walt would want to treat his son that way if not for SkySky?

Also, I have to say, Crazy 8/Tuco, Psycho Jane, Jesse vs gangbangers + everyone vs Tuco's Terminator-esque cousins, and Walt/Jesse vs Gus were all much more compelling storylines than Walt vs Psycho Skyler. Season 5 needs to start stepping it up soon.

[I know it's puddles and all, but I'm just doing it for the lols at this point.]

I've been married for 11 years and I gotta say, if I'd ever experienced downs like these two are I'd change my name and leave the country.

Walt and Skylar are going through a down.

When she forgets he murdered a ton of people and went on living casually with it, they'll be coo again.

I know this happened one episode before, but I found myself cheering at Sky for finally telling Marie to fucking shut the hell up.

Skyler might be a dick or annoying, but Marie is the "you're not helping, shut up" personified. When crippled Hank was an asshole to her, it never crossed my mind that he was being mean for no reason.

Skyler can take the high road all she wants she is also a filthy criminal, as is Walt, as is Jesse, as is Mike, as is everybody but Hank and Walt Jr. Not sure what Holly does on her spare time.

marie is awesome.

From the clip on Conan:

He's killed Skylar. =(

"I'll be whatever kind of partner you want me to be."
so fucking delicious. Like I said, she had a myriad of options.
She WANTS to do this. She can disguise it all she wants. In the end it's all about dat MOOOOOLAAAAAAAa.

marie is awesome.

Skylar has laundered money.

Walt has murdered people, poisoned children, and distributed drugs that that kill people and destroy their lives.

Just for some context.

she is enabling a murderer! So she is a murderer by proxy. All walt did was kill some drug dealers and make the world a slightly better place, and off one junky for the betterment of his good pal.

Murdered. Right. Just like Jeffrey Dahmer or some shit.

By this logic, every single action hero in history is a mass-murderer. Hell, John Matrix was the 1980's Joseph Stalin!

Hey when Al Capone was going around blowing up cafes to kill rival gang leaders, he was making the world a better place too. Damn that Eliot Ness.

for real man. Some people don't appreciate it. You have to let the trash take out the trash.

Wait, these are actual spoilers? I thought it was some semi-spoilerish thing from a Conan interview.
copernicus didn't literally mean
he killed her lol
. The other part is a line she says in the clip, yes.

She only just learned of his murders. They're all shit, but hes the real shitter.

But seriously, is there any good reason to care for Walt this season?

What's his biggest dilemma? keeping his criminal past under wraps and making 600Gs back to "support his family"? I don't care anymore nor do I buy it...his arc is pretty much done.

I think more focus on Jesse would be nice this Season, he is the new Walter...

I'm scared about how Jesse will react when he (if he) discovers who poisoned Brock.

It was kinda awkward to see how he bothered to get Walter a clock for his birthday, "Happy Birthday, Mr. White" and all.

Yeah, it doesn't even make sense that Walt back into the business other than his insatiable ego. He is out the 600k, but so what? Still has the carwash. He can keep living his boring life without going back to meth. Even when he was overflowing with money, he only spent it on medical expenses. Jesse really has no reason to still be in the business though. Doesn't even care about the money, and he gave up his relationship to cook.

Once you break bad you never go back.

Jesse never really cared about the money, infact, he gives them away like candy to whoever.
All he wanted was to be loved by someone (sounds corny but whatever) his parents, Walter, Jane, the dude from the rehabilitation center, Mike, even fucking Gus at some point.
He had the decency to not continue the story with Andrea, given the risks, but all because he's still attached to Walt as a father figure and couldn't cut that tie.
The costume designer even said so in a recent interview, that Jesse isn't interested in street cred anymore, but more about impressing Walt and being considere his equal/buddy, something most adolescents do.
Walt's manipulations are twice as disgusting, for this reason (even though there was a point in the series where Walt's affection for Jesse was sincere).

Also for those obsessed with Skyler fucking Ted, i just remebered: Carmen Molina.

Something new will pop up, and he'll still be the most fascinating protagonist on tv.

Edit: Something had better go down with Madrigal and the Germans soon, because Skyler as the main villain is a piss-poor replacement for Gus. We need some real antagonists back in this series.

He actually can't as shown in that episode where he berates the guy at the store for buying all the meth ingredients at that one store LOL

The shit got the hooks in him.

Do we know where the Madrigal warehouse is Jesse went to get the methylmene? He said it was a 9-hour drive back.

It strongly implied that it's in Texas. The computer that was in the room with the fusebox that Lydia was messing with had a Texas flag as a screensaver, and the van that Jesse was driving looked like it had a Texas license plate. Vince Gilligan said on the podcast that Lydia lives in
Houston
, and it looks like the drive from there to Albuquerque is about 900 miles.

Emotional well-being counts for jack shit without physical well-being. Skyler is worried about the latter, as any decent parent would be. Unfortunately Walt is on a delusional power trip so he doesn't see the potential danger in living with his family as a drug dealer responsible for the death of many other criminals, including a very high level one.
