Monster Hunter Vampyre Castle and the Haunted House are two separate sets, correct? What minifigs are duplicates?

Yeah, those are two sets. Not sure on the minifigs, but just glancing at Haunted House it looks like the two main vampires (red dress and black suit) are dupes or near-dupes.

Took about 5 hours for the 4x4 Crawler.

I wonder if I can make a decent Mars Rover using the sets I have with only 1 Mindstorm set. The Lego Curiosity Rover this guy build uses like 1000's of pieces, 7 NXT brick, 13 servos, and 2 power function motors.

Seen this?

http://ldd2povray.lddtools.com/index.php?p=1_8_Gallery

It's called LDD to POV-ray. I havent actually tried it myself, but apparently POV-ray is a renderer and the LDD part is a converter that enables it to render LDD models very realistically. Looks pretty cool if it works, I'll be checking it later.

Here's an example from the gallery:

I was playing with it last night, i did a render and left it overnight, when I left it was at 62% and when I woke it was still the same. It was on the transparent parts so I think that killed it.

I cancelled it this morning and did another with AA and radiosity turned off and it was done in a few minutes. I'll try again tonight with faster radiosity settings and AA on but here's what I got this morning.

How was it?

I wish it was something more interesting than a 4x4. It has 2 PF motor for 4WD and a servo motor to steer. It's not fast, but the 3 part suspension system is pretty good for climbing over things. My next set is the 8110 Unimog with a similar suspension system, so I am thinking they are not that much different compared to each other.

If you asking how difficult it was, then it was about the same as other technic sets. It's pretty straightfoward as far as I can tell, there are lots of redundant instructions because the the front and back suspension system are pretty much a mirror of each other and has to be build separately.

I really want to make the shark model that they have for this month, but there is one piece that isn't available in the Pick-a-Brick store. It's 4509915. Seems kinda silly that they would put out a model that you couldn't buy the bricks to make. That's a pretty important piece too, because it is the snout of the shark!

I've been playing Lego Batman 2 and now I've got the urge to get a Batman set. I can't decide between the Bat plane or Bat mobile set. I'm definitely going to get the Lex Luthor set just for the Superman minifigs.

I'm constantly amazed how by splitting minifigs across sets they trick me into buying more. It's an absolutely brilliant business tactic.

I would go with the Batmobile set. I have them all and that set, given your choices, it is the most bang for your buck IMO. "Flying" sets are hard to display. I also think the Batwing is a little flimsy. I liked the last model that came with a stand/launchpad for display. I'm actually slowly working towards building one for the current Batwing. The Batmobile set also comes with a great little bank that a safe gets torn out of. As an added bonus, the stuff in the batmobile set goes along really well with traditional city sets. Speaking of which, there are several of the city sets that make appearances in Lego Batman 2, which was nice to see!

Anyone able to middleman 2 of the Lego Thor baggies for me? I kinda don't want to wait for retail in Canada, if possible. It takes forever and I can't hunt all the time anymore due to work.

I just finished assembling the Hayabusa model. It's a pretty fantastic looking piece, and the instruction booklet is equally impressive. Lots of cool information about the various components of the satellite. I'm surprised that more people in this thread aren't talking about it.

As I put together some of these Friends sets I have lying around, I was thinking it'd be kind of cool to try and construct a modern version of some of the older Paradisa sets like Poolside Paradise. Just...too bad there aren't any baseplates big enough to account for the bigger minifigs.

Stickers, sadly. Same with the Hayabusa name plate and the Jaxa logo. Still, I love the model. And I love the fact that it comes with a minifig of the satellite's creator.
Funny how that isn't clear in the pdf of instructions, or maybe I missed that part. Seems like they just show the black underside of the panels and then flip it over and the panel details are already there. Got my hopes up that it was printed. Anyway, very nice model despite that.

That's bigger than I thought it was.

I'd love to pick it up but I find that it's too overpriced IMO.

Hayabusa looks great but that calendar caught my eye...never seen that before
I picked that up at the LEGO store a few months back. It's a fun little diversion at the start of each month. I've seen it on the website, too, so you can get it that way.

It works out to about 13.5 cents per piece, which is a tad overpriced, but not too bad. Given the semi-exclusive nature of the set and the excellent instruction booklet, I think it's well worth the price.

Mine is on it's way, I went looking for it at the shop but they didn't have it, I then forgot to order when at the till....... If I remember rightly I would have got free shipping.

I got it at Intertoys :P Which is a local dutch toystore. The box was "damaged". The side was a bit dented. So they put it on special offer.

They also had the sonic boom (5892) for 35 euro. A Tie Defender (8087) for 40 or something...

hmmm.. gonna check my local intertoys too then.
Can you tell which city you got yours?

I picked that up from Walmart a few months back when it was secretly discounted to $29.99, eh... it's an alright set. I'm not a fan of CW stuff, but I couldn't say no for 50% off.

I wanted some lightsabers, and then I liked the design of the ship so I was like, why not? Am I doing it wrong?

This kind of takes away from the Millenium Falcon fund though..

Also, I really want one of those Tie Fighters with the curved wings, if they're still called that or the variant has a completely different name. Too bad the only one I've found is the Collector's one. A Tie Interceptor is cool too though.

Edit: Don't know how but I ended up stumbling on the Heroica RPG thread on eurobricks. I dig majorly (Even more than my want for the iconic Millenium Falcon). Maybe I'll go and make myself a world to play with later on this year.

Just got an email from Amazon.de saying

Which Google translates to

"reason of the refund: At the shipping address can not be delivered"

Normally they tell you at checkout whether or not you can ship it, but looks like it's a no go =[

Looks like there are some small new Friends sets showing up at Toys R Us Canada.

There were a few more, including a neat looking skateboard for Stephanie.

So I picked this up form Walmart today in clearance for 75 bucks.

They had a bunch of other cool stuff too like the log cabin for 20 dollars.
