Guild Wars 2 Launch Date announced: August 28th, 2012

Oh. Any word if they'll fix this by the launch or should I just wait?

It's nothing game breaking just annoying. This is still one of the best games I've played all year as well as having possibly the most inspired, living and breathing worlds I've been in since. Well WoW back in the day.

I re-created all the characters from BW3. They added extra sliders to a couple of races and fixed some issues with certain template faces. It's nothing big. I just wanted to update my screen caps for my characters two weeks from now.

I can't even seem to log into their website to obtain the client (says my pass is invalid). Are they having trouble along those lines?

Lol, my friends guild Smith's Folly [SmFo] stole Stonemist for guild claiming. And Henge of Denravi finally won a WvW matchup!

Ok, is there something wrong with my installation? Why does the game looks so bad?

That just looks awful. There is no depth to the scene and everything looks stretched and blurry somehow. Everything is at the highest setting. Is something messed up?

Yea this is the reason I've been putting off my pre-order. Game looks ugly as a minotaur's ass. Hopefully it's a bug with the beta.

It's running off of both CPU and GPU cuncorrently. If both are not up to spec then it's going to look bad. Also, even if you have it at the highest setting, if the game cannot handle it, it will not load things properly. Mind telling me your specs?

Its not the same problem that we had during the first few BWE is it? I remember the game performing solely based on your cpu, ignoring gpu power early on. Thats fixed right?

It's not as bad but from what I've seen, it's still not optimized to its prime yet. It's definitely good but you might need a very good comp to run everything on max.

I can't take screens now but this is my specs. I will post later if I get the chance.

CPU: i7-3770k
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 670
RAM: 8GB 1600 G.Skill Ripjaws
Mobo: Z77 Sabertooth
HDD: 1TB
PSU: 750W

i5-2400 3.30 GHz
16 gigs RAM
Nvidia GTX 560 Ti

I really shouldn't have any problem running this game at max settings.

You should be able to run GW2 at max but i think the actual processing that your CPU is supposed to do with GPU isn't going to be prime which might causing it. I could be wrong. There might be a delay or something which is why you're getting scope issues.

Things are working much better today than yesterday. No login hiccups or anything, lets hope the release is just as smooth.

Tried banners for the first time on my Warrior. Didn't realize I could pick them myself, but after some dude took it up from the ground and started bashing Grawl with it, I couldn't stop laughing. Turns out they have 5 use abilities as well.

Good stuff, I think that really nailed the Warrior as my first alt :p

Game gets a pass for me on the art alone which is just gorgeous. In any case, if you are expecting some big graphical leap come release I think you'll be greatly disappointed. In the end it will look very close to what you've seen around.

That said, that screen looks wrong. It currently looks better than that for sure.

Getting awful rubber banding and lag.... stress tested indeed.

Can looks great at times, sometimes it looks very meh. Some really bad textures in spots that ruin the whole thing. In many places it's the art direction that makes the game look fantastic, but on a technical level it's not the best looking of games.

Setting aside any texture issues I may have with the game, I know they're going after a painterly feeling, my biggest issue is the lack of any sharpness or sense of depth. Shadows are all washed out.

I don't know, it looks wrong. The original Guild Wars looked so amazing for it's time it's hard to believe it looks so disappointing currently.

Yeah, that's why I was asking if something is just messed up on my end or if that's how it looks to everyone.

Honestly, I wish I could help you but I can't. I don't have the client updated on the computer and my internet sucks. If I can get it up and time I'll try to see if it really does look like that on max or if it's just you.

I went there and it looks like that for me too, that portion of the area looks bad.

But yeah, don't expect GW2 to be a technical graphics beast, if you don't like the art style and graphics, it won't change.

I think I got something I like.

And people say Charr arent awesome. Now to just decide what profession to roll with, either Warrior, Guardian or Engineer.

Nuu I got work in an hour....Cant really play now with the lag and rubberbanding. Need more stress test!!! I was planning to take a week off when the game officially launch, but might wait a week after the fact to make sure it all smooth over.

I just made a Charr, really impressed with the customization options.

Looks good to me:

Everything has been pretty smooth EU based. Some disappearing texture stuff in the Asura area, but I guess that's gameside.

Mesmer has me intrigued, but I have no idea what I'm doing.

The first shot looks really good, nice and sharp and good sense of the depth.

The second shot not so much, the floor has the weird stretching effect, but it's hard to tell with the flames.

The ground texture in the second shot is low res, but focus on the GIANT AWESOME FIRE ELEMENTAL!

True, but considering it's a huge open world MMO with great art design, I can overlook texture quality.

I'm sure they're other MMO's that look better, but none of those are as fun and rewarding to play as GW2 imo.

Anyways, how's the performance for everyone else? The lag is definitely better this time around than last stress test.

Mesmer has me intrigued.

Mesmer doesn't feel finished to me, skills feel buggy and I don't like illusions/clones they just feel clunky. Engi feels the same to me too. It feels like a great idea but they haven't quite integrated the skills well enough in to the current hotbar layout.

GW2's visual build seems to trade a lot of granular fidelity you'd expect from a top end PC game today, for really huge scope in the artwork and very explorable environments. Plus its real strength is the art direction and visual design.

I'll take its level of graphics if the performance is a bit more optimized by launch. I'm unsure if the builds for the current stress test are using the GPU much.

As far as I can tell, Harmonious Mantras is broken. It does absolutely nothing atm.

Man, I'm starting to really like the Sylvari. I'm (currently) still planning on maining an Asura, but the Sylvari is really a beautiful race with amazing environments. It's tempting to just main one of them (I haven't played as an Asura yet because I was waiting for the actual release).

Also, the storyline (the Green Knight) is pretty awesome, I gotta say. Really interesting twist on a certain game in that particular personal storyline.

Yeah, I agree. Messing around with it and I can't tell if my Illusions are doing anything or not. Fantastic idea and they LOOK cool, but I'm not sure if I'll use a 5 slot on them.

Its got a beat em up element going for it. Try picking up random pipes and planks.
